First of all, nice work Dingo, im sure many people have waited for this as I have...  ;D

Well this is my question... I tired to delete the external graphic of Samus's Down Bomb... I did exactly as you did in the video... But when i went to test it out it freezes... Any idea Of why?

O a side note.... Swapping Lucarios Graphics to Samus does not work due to the file size limit in samus's PAC..

As for Samus' bomb GFX, I'll have to look for it, and hexing out GFXs can lower the filesize quite a bit.

For example, Ike's normal filesize is 394 KB. When his PtcIkeHunka is removed, his filesize drops to 386 KB.

I was wondering about that, if it drops the file size... Good to know... I'm gonna try adding lucarios graphics again and Deleting everything except his aura ball... Hopefully it drops the file size to were I can work with it.. But I still would like to figure out my previous question just in case this doesn't work..

Wonderful tutorial, I've been waiting for this for a while. I gave Peach Toon Link’s effects. Though I had to swap both miscdata1 and miscdata2 because with only the former the effects looked weird. Everything works wonderfully… except for the bombs. With Toon link loaded Peach’s bombs have the graphic, but without him the bombs explode invisibly... even though she has the blast graphic (on her uptilt)… why? how do I fix?

That's sound file. You only need the MiscData[0].efls and MiscData[1].

Are you sure you replaced the right ones?

hey dingo are you talking suggestions for tutorials? i'd like to see a tutorial on hexing a assit trophies model to work on a character. cuz everytime i try it out it messes up i'm trying to get knuckle joes model onto to kirby but it won't hex proprly :/

Open the FitMario.pac in OpenSA. Find the offset for the SFX of it. Write it down and close OpenSA. Then open that FitMario.pac in PSA, put the copied offset into the sub-routines and find it. Then change it to Nop:

As long as you know PSA and OpenSA it's really simple.

When removing a Graphic.. If the graphic is composed of More little graphics.. Do those need to be removed also?

MiscData[2]?

Are you sure you replaced the right ones?


Sorry about disappearing into the ether... but yes I am 100% certain I had to switch all three files. (MiscData[0].elfs, MiscData[1] AND MiscData[2]) When only swapping the first two, the effects were distorted and looked incomplete (http://i419.photobucket.com/albums/pp273/Benalos33/peachuptilt.jpg) 
It is only after additionally swapping MiscData[2] does Peach have ToonLink's gfx fully... Well... except for his bombs... and her sound effects seem to be unaffected.

No. Only the GFX name in the MiscData[0] and [1].

@Benalos3

I haven't had problems with swapping GFX but I guess this is an exception. When I have more time I'll experiment with MiscData[2].

Is there a way to hex out just a spesific part of a polygon, or can you only hex it out compleatly?

See, the hexing out of parts works realy great, but i ran into a problem. When I hexed out part of Link's Hair (his bangs), it also hexed out his arms and legs. I went to Brawl Box and I saw that they were all on the same polygon.

It is possible to do if you can hex out only the vertex points in a section of a model. It's better to just vertex something out.

xD, the ball does not appear....is replaced depending on the graphic This in place of the hadoudan,xD,  for example the aura of ganon entry, but...This could be because the original graphic "call" somehow,the aura ball?

I noticed that too when I ran the test of Lucario with Ganon's GFX. The Aura Sphere model wasn't noticeable but just a big ball or darkness. You can always see which GFX slot the Hadouden he shoots would be and remove that slot for Ganon's GFX. When you call up that slot only the model should appear.

I'll give it a look over. I have one using Ganon's GFX sitting around. This was how I discovered GFX swapping after all.

It's the same as what I said for dual eyes by making FS eyes always there. Only you have to figure out which bone actually controls which visibility and if you have to use other bone indexes since if it's a body part, the RotN bones aren't the best swaps. It was a pain for me to figure out which bone indexes to swap and which bones made things visible for all the full polygon models I already made.

Ive found a very good way to drop a characters file size down greatly.... Its only good for Custom characters.. If you wanna start from scratch that is... For example Ive been able to drop Samus's file size down to 219KB's from the original 253KB's... All thanks to your swapping method ;D.... Thanks Dingo...

Because most tut threads aren't, and nobody pays much attention (visibly) to any of my tutorials. :P

And I knew about the file size dropping with CoN Naruto. Deleted GFX so his filesize dropped a lot. I just never said anything. :P

Hexed out lines of the Ext. GFX. <.<
That's all. If you look at CoN, he's missing a bunch of Ext. GFX's in his .efls. That was so he would only spawn the models, and not the separate graphics assigned to the Ext. GFX ID.

Well I don't think it's a problem to share what Nuke and I were talking about.

Samus has 12 Ext GFX. I would typically just hex lines off to remove certain ones to lower file size.

Nuke swapped Luigi's efls file over Samus, making Samus only have 5 for Luigi. This counted as removing 7 and dropped the file size just the same.

If you want to swap to simply remove all and don't plan on using the GFX models in a FitName.pac, Jigglypuff's EFLS is the best to swap, it only has 3 GFX.

If anyone wants, I can make a base empty efls file for use with just models and no character GFX.

Okay, I'm trying to change the bone that mario's pump is attatched to, but I have NO idea which one to go to in open SA to find the artical I need D:

Any ideas? I think I can manage it if I knew where the damn thing was DX

Quick question. Instaed of replaceing all the graphics of a character to swap a graphic can you swap one pertiular graphic and keep the rest the same.
