Title: Hacking Starter Pack: Super Smash Bros. Clash: Some Else can take this over. :(
Post by: Not A Frog on October 08, 2010, 07:11:37 PM
Ok so I wana throw together a little starter pack for newbies (like, newer than me) to hacking. I wana have people "donate" their PSA, Textures, Item Textures, Stages, CSS, SSS, CPS, etc. I wana compeatly change the game so that nothing is the same. Things that wouldn't be accepted into this would be PSA like Elematal Marth because it's still a version of Marth. Also random textures won't be acceped only recolors of the original character's texture. Only recolors and actual characters will be accepted. Not something like colorful Marth for example. (Don't know if it's a real texture. If so no offense to the creator) EVERYONE WHO HELP WITH THIS WILL RECEIVE CREDIT.

Update: [December 2, 2010]
Seeing as there hasn't been an update in a long time I'm going to start asking people for their Vertexes and such to be added into the pack.  I am also now accepting items.

This seems like a great idea ^^ What kind of characters do you want?  Balanced ones or Overpowered ones?

Finally a reply! I'm looking for balanced PSA like.... um..... well not Max or just recular Onslougt Falcon cheep (or most of Hollow's PSA. No offence to him, he makes some of the best PSAs ever) and not like LOLimar suckish or my creating S.O.B. which will be released soon.

If it is a vertex it has to have a PSA, a color pack and it can't be anything like the orginal character. Not trying to be picky but the point of this is kind of to make the next Super Smash Bros Game. I also want to decide on a name, like the second had Melee and newest one has Brawl.

So pretty much, you want PSA hacks with textures and complete color sets?
I don't see why you don't simply include some team-color friendly hacks from different creators.
After all, you only get virtually one vertex/texture per character if it's set up this way. I think it would be more fun to have separate and completely different hacks within one character.
Since most hacks don't include a complete color set, it would be hard to do it this way; it also limits yourself from not including creative hacks without color sets.

Regardless, I think a starter packs are a good idea.
You're welcome to use my Police Mario and Tuxedo Metaknight (with top hat) hacks, if you decide to include different and original creations that don't have color sets. Police Mario, for example, goes well with DasDonkey's Mario Mafio. I'm sure there's plenty of other combinations similar to this by other kc-mm members that would be fun to include.

As for the name of the "next" Super Smash Bros game, I've heard of several ideas from other people;
-Super Smash Bros Clash
-Super Smash Bros Warfare
-Super Smash Bros Ultimate
-Super Smash Bros Revolution
-Super Smash Bros ... something.

whatever. I'm sure someone can think of something if these aren't good enough.

u want it to be a new smash bros, but did u forget that ALL of them have MARIO, LUIGI, etc...
it wouldnt be ssb anymore if u replace them with "new" characters...

You are free to use any of my textures, as long as I am credited. ;)

your spelling is terrible OP.  You do know you will not be allowed to upload this pack to brawlvault, right? you'll just have to give a mediafire link, which I see no problem with.  Also, will you make custom SSS with all the appropriate CSPs and such?

Ya, sorry. I'll work on it. Yes There will be a MediaFire link and no I can't make Custom SSS and CPS and stuff yet. But they will be the appropriate ones.

Ya, I considered this. I say we keep like.... 14 or 15 characters from Brawl in the game. 5 from each of the pervious games and the rest newcomers? I don't know. Any suggustions?

I liked the recolor idea because it would be like the next game because all the characters in the actually games (I'm not sure about the N64 version though) have recolors.

Name it Super Smash Bros. Clash because each SSB after the original SSB had a 5-letter word that meant fight and I checked and "clash" means fight...and it's a 5-letter word. So SSBC might be this.

I'm thinking I'll release a second, somewhat different stage pack, since so many new stages have been released. This time, I'll keep it to just Nintendo-related stages (with the exception of Sonic and Metal Gear), and put in as many SSB64 and Melee stages as I can find.
Of course, I'll have to take some stages out. But maybe I can find a way to use the roster expansion system to keep them in there if you'd like.
Here's what I have planned:

Big Blue             Wuhu Island                 Quanno
Brinstar             Brinal Destarnation         StarWaffle
Pokémon Stadium      Saffron City                Mewtwo2000
Honestly, there are enough good hacked stages to replace the original stage roster 2 times over.

Wow. That's not at all like Ness, but its really good! I think I'll add it to my personal hacks! Adding to OP in a few.

@libertyernie: Sorry, didn't feel like making another quote. But whith the stage excpantion code couldn't we add like 39 stages without haveing to replace any? So couldn't we add all of those but like, 4?

cool, I'll get on it. btw, if someone could send me screenshots of the characters in epic stances (one from the side and one from the back for each) as they are added to the roster, that'd be peachy. I'm hoping to get a capture card soon, and after that i won't need anyone to do it for me, but until then i'd appreciate the help.

The only problem with the stage expansion code is that the added stages don't get their own icons. But that might be okay. I'm sure you could just take Mewtwo2000's pack with the code and change what stages are in there.
I might try to figure out the Tracklist Modifier so we can change the added stages' music as well.

There's a program called BCSM-GUI that makes editing songs obnoxiously easy. It works with .mp3's, not just .wav's and it automatically puts the song on your sd card where it needs to be after it converts the song to .brstm.

if you want to try it out, here's a link to a video tutorial with a download link in the description: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIrDSCUXn9o

So how do you choose the stages if they don't have their own icons?

They have icons, but they're exactly the same as the ones for other stages. And we can't add icons until PAT0 support in BrawlBox (which was just added) gets its bug fixed (plus I don't have a clue what PAT0 data actually is.)

OP still has "Drako" misspelled. And BTW my newest download includes a CSP for Sailor Moon, which I got from someone else.  You should update that as well.

You should add Naruto over ike
Zero over link,
grey fox over metanight
scyther over falco
There are A TON, im suprised its so...incomplete...

Have you decided on a menu yet? I suggest the color changing menu.
And the intro could be one of the smash eater onez on the vault...
Im sorry but there are SO many possibilities.

I know! I would do everyting today right now but school is holding me back...  Those are all good Ideas and there is a color changing menu? Also there won't be a riivolution form of the pack because I don't know what to do with the text things... So the movies wouldn't work.

I think the only way those could be entered in if the creator of that Hack is okay with it being here.

Speaking of which, Banjo and Kazooie could replace Mario. The desire for a PSA is so high that it's pretty much guaranteed to be made; however, it does need some color options.
If Aafyre's okay with it then Banjo would be great for Mario.
