Let's see if somebody joins this. Let's list all the current character imports so it's easy to see which are the available ones, by character, and characteristics.

List YOUR imports this way:

The imported characters would be listed in the OP afterwards by character, so people can see imports only by character, and a quick definition of how they're working in their game. Easy and simple. A good way to advertise your work too, I guess. Also, the name of who makes the hack is not listed, so people don't get interest by creator, but by the character name itself.

Please don't post characters made by others, neither recolors of them. If somebody wants a recolor of a certain character, he can search the vault. Also, keep the format to make it easy to me to list.

I'll include them in the OP now. Please tell me the right shader options when you're able to.

It would include that, but also the ones like my Ganondorf, which looks like metal but doesn't change with the angle. Perfect metal is just perfect metal, for all the parts of the character, as if it was a legit character in brawl.

Wi-Fi safe because the bones aren't changed, doesn't lag from my knowledge (polygon count a little bit over ZSS's original, didn't lag with 4 people in a busy stage), and the metal is glitchy (works for the eyes, doesn't for the body).

People have been slacking on marking the Wifi option on their BrawlVault submissions. There's no point in having that feature if people don't use it... This thread should help me (and everyone) sort out the safe models from the unsafe or laggy ones.

Ummm I wasn't quite sure what the shaders thing meant. All my models have that thing where if they go offscreen into that little bubble their model becomes a little brighter. So i just marked issues.

The shaders descryption tells if the character works well in terms of lighting, if the normals are correct (it shows the lighting coming from the same side as the other characters) or if there's a strange coloration in stages like luigi's mansion (glitchy models are usually yellow there).

I'm not really considering the cases with wrong light directions, which exist, cause it doesn't matter to most people.

Unfortunately, people do not always see their own glitches or shading problems, and I cannot go testing the hacks posted here, but trusting what people post.

If anybody finds some of the entries to be innacurate, please report me via PM (or here if you don't mind your report to be seen)

Hi guys, I want to use this thread to make an advice.

I'm gonna ask you for some personal work. Get all of your non-nulled-normal imports, and open them with brawlbox 0.65b (stable, not beta). For each, delete the textures folder and preview your model.

If it looks like this:

Then, export it as .dae, and import that .dae back to brawlbox. Do it with the newer one, not older versions. Those shadows should be fixed when doing this.

Just do this for all your imports, and update them in the vault. Let's try to keep the vault full of quality imports, cause those shader problems should be something in the past now.

- PS: In some cases like ds22's Melee Fox, in which the normals were manually fixed, there will be only a few glitchy parts, but there will be (manual fixes are never perfect). Importing again won't solve them, so if you want to fix, you'll need to export it to 3dsmax (normals get resetted here) and import it back to brawlbox.

-PS2: If your model doesn't even look similarily to the Fox picture, and it's dark, or the light comes from another direction, you need the 3dsmax fix too. Follow this tutorial (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=39586.0) to understand.

I'd be willing to comply, but I need one issue to be solved first - Why is it that when I try to import .dae files into 3dsmax 2010 made from BB, I get lots of errors upon importing and it's like the skin modifier no longer exists..........

Anyone know why? Or rather, is anyone with a functional 3DS Max 2010 Autodesk Collada importer willing to PM me their plugin?

Gonna use the thread again to showcase something important xD

You character importers should know about the metal textures. They're something to be added to the imported character once it's in brawlbox, and ready to go, so when that character gets a metal box, it gets metallic, just like standard characters.

Some of you (like me) have enabled manually some fake metal textures by changing some values in the extra materials you manually added and such. Some of you have never tried to include metal textures to your characters. Blackjax96 implemented some button in brawlbox 0.65b beta in order to automate this. Some people reported this to cause model glitches, explosions or whatever.

I personally didn't test this feature until a few days ago, just cause I didn't know where it was. So, the first step is knowing it. Here's the feature:

Now, if it makes models explode and such, why telling you this?

Well, just because the 'model exploding' isn't random. It happens under some conditions.

I'll explain. Blackjax is a very clever guy, and when the importer was released, it automatically wrote the UV, normal and vertex values in a format or another, depending of the values themselves, in order to save space. This means that big models can fit the brawl because some values can be written shortly, resulting in a smaller file. Anyway, he programmed that 'please wait' thing in 0.65b beta and 0.65b. I bet many of you just ignore it, and you should know more about it.

What do they mean? Instead of looking for the shorter possible format for the values, the UV, normals and vertices are forced to be in the 'float' format.

Well, Blackjax96 said that the automatic metal materials feature did work well in some brawl models he tested, but people reported those exploding issues that made him remove the feature in 0.65b. So the model has to be from brawl or something?

Well, I suppose that you know what I mean at this point:

IF YOU FORCE THE FLOAT FORMAT FOR UV, NORMALS AND VERTICES, THE AUTOMATIC METAL MATERIAL FEATURE WORKS FLAWLESSLY.

This sentence is exactly as is. If any of them isn't forced, the model will have issues, in vertices, in normals, or in UVs. It may be fixed from now on, now that this fact is known, but in the meanwhile, this is the solution.

Also, if you force floats, the coordinates will be more exact for sure. If some values was, for example, 1.6321 in 3dsmax, not forcing float values may result in having 1.63 in brawlbox, losing the 0.0021. If two vertices that are supposed to be in the same place, but from different objects, lose precission like this, they may get separated and a small hole would appear in the character. So, unless forcing results in a too big file, I highly recommend to use those boxes before importing.

Well, with this said... Get your imports and fix your metal materials nao!! xD

Mmm... when your model is too big with the buttons selected, and you don't matter if metals are perfect or not.

I personally use them since they exist. I even asked for them the day before they were released, only that Blackjax96 had already planned them before I told him. He read my mind, basically xD

I rigged Fox's shadow to Fox. One came out pretty trippy because I forgot to add the shader. I haven't tested out the other one I added the shader to yet. Do you want them?

(Basically, the Skyward Sword shader plus the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom rimlight texture. Need to figure out why only the rimlight flickers and sticks during smash attacks, but other than that it's good.)

(EDIT: Seems that "ColorSelectionC" has something to do with it. Changing that value in the Stage2 for Kirby's default shader from "KonstantColorSelection" to "None" disabled the colour changes for Kirby's smash attacks. That might not be just it, though.

That was related to... I can't use brawlbox here right now, but it's some value near to the 'C0Enums0' in the materials. The Alpha in the next one to this. I got some trouble when I first made my Young Ganon hack (it got all purple after the first warlock punch for dodges and smashes), and that was the problem. My material tool changed that value to be 1, but it usually needs to be 3. That was the cause of the glitch in my case.

Also, I think KonstantColorSelection is what Brawl manipulates from an outside source.
Notice that practically all character shaders in Brawl have 3 stages at the end that are mostly always the same. Those three stages control the light flickering when you charge, respawn or do a certain special.

That could be it too. I haven't looked into those values much, but they do deal with lighting.

Brawlbox converts the values to float now if the object has a texture matrix, so it doesn't really matter if you force float values or not when importing now.

Float values are just the raw 4-byte value written to the model.
Other values take up only 2 or 1 byte and are multiplied by a common multiplier to get the real value.
