I happen to be going on a trip to see my mom and little brother next Wednesday. My little brother only has a Gamecube, and thus I'm bringing my Wii. Naturally, he plays a lot of Melee, and we had a lot of fun last year playing Brawl. I just told him about Texture Hacks and he can't wait to see it. I'd really like to fill my SD card with a wide array of the best Textures for characters. I've already got plenty for Link, Toon Link, Lucario, and Peach, characters I like playing as (or textures that really caught my eye) but there are still so many open spots, and so many to choose from for characters I personally don't play all that often (G+W, the Star Fox Trio, Donkey Kong). So I thought I'd ask for your guys' input. You guys have probably loaded and used more textures while I've just started to scratch the surface. Some textures look to me as if they're better in screenshots than in motion. Or for those with multiple takes (like say, Fierce Diety Link), you guys might provide some insight. I thought maybe while I was at it, I could make an archived pack of popular Textures, with common.pcs all ready to go. A zip file for friends and people who might, say, have little computer access and/or maybe little to no access to things like Photoshop/GIMP, and who just need to extract this to the root of their SD card and they're all set (assuming their Wii is Homebrew ready of course). If you guys could help, I'd greatly appreciate it ^_^ Here's the list of character "slots" if you will listed by color. None being nothing has been chosen yet Note, I'll be using this list (http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Palette_swap_%28SSBB%29) as reference not the actual file listing for putting in in PACs and PCSs. I plan on keeping defaults the same and I also like to keep the team colors (red, green, and blue) as coordinated as possible, for when Team Play is involved, I don't want to have a Silver Samus when she's playing on the "Green Team". Only exception to this is Ash as Pokemon trainer (by Segab) it just works so much better that way. For Bowser I'd say Mario Bowser and Dry Bowser are the coolest. For Captain Falcon I think Kratos, Master Chief and Protoman are the best. Ganondorf - Pinkandorf, The King, Black Shadow and Gears of war Ganon. Snake - Mood Snake, Joker, Pink (Hello Kitty) Snake Lucario - Ditto (trips people out) Wario (Warioware) - Tuxedo, Samurai Gordo Pikachu - Pichu, Falconchu Jigglypuff - Falconpuff, Weegeepuff And for your Midna Zelda/Sheik, I recomend Fireking220's Zelda, and Register/S's Sheik. Anyways, textures i enjoy using are Picano's Harvery Birdman (loved that show), Wall-e Rob by Syntax Erorr, Shadow Queen by Register or his brother or sister :P, and ]EE['s Skeletal Bowser. Those are just a few, i've replaced at least one costume for everyone in brawl, only three of which are mine (excluding stages) :P Title: Re: So what textures does everyone like using? Get the latest version of Shadow Mario from Stack Smash; it's the best I know of.
The gallery is an excellent resource for finding textures, and the new rosters on Stack Smash and Elite Smash Hackers make finding textures for specific characters really easy. You can also go to BrawlHost (the link is on Stack Smash's page) and browse through the multitude of teams there... All in all, we can't tell you what to like. Championing my own team, I'd recommend Peach's Castle and my Dark Castle and/or Tetris Stage Parts. BigShark's Winters texture is very good and definitely check out Das Donkey's stuff.

Post by: Jack H. on July 07, 2009, 09:58:03 PM For lack of a kick-arse Diddy texture, I'm going to have to recommend my own Coconuts Diddy (http://brawlhacks.wikia.com/wiki/Diddy_Kong_-_Character_Textures). I'd like to thank Gazoinks for gesturing my Peach's Castle stage. I'm proud of it.
I'd also recommend Playboy Luigi, but I would be stoned. (Please don't use it, there are a plethora of awesome Luigi's out there). |
