Title: How to put a perfect border around your images WITHOUT hand drawing it? (GIMP) Post by: slayermarth101 on September 11, 2012, 03:38:43 PM 1. Get your image you want your border on.
(http://i.imgur.com/jn9rq.gif) 2. Go to Layer > Layer boundary size. You'll want to have a boundary that is about double the current size, or so. You probably won't need that much, though. Unless you're trying for a really big border. (http://i.imgur.com/8DzBC.png) I usually add 100 to the width and leave the height. Then I ALWAYS make "X" 35 then hit center then hit Resize. (http://i.imgur.com/3TiDL.png) 3. Go to Layer > Transparency > Alpha to selection on your image layer. This will put a selection around your image. Then go to Selct > grow. Depending on the size of your image, and your desired results, you may have to play around with the amount for a bit. I usually start at 2 and add to that if needed. (2 is usually the best looking one.) (http://i.imgur.com/dCe3X.png) 4. Make a new transparent layer, and place it underneath the image layer. Select the color you want your outline to be as the foreground or background color. I chose red. Then go to edit > fill with bg/fg color, whichever has the color you want your outline to be.
