Title: Peardian's custom models (Collabs wanted!) - Newest: Exor
Post by: Peardian on December 22, 2012, 10:28:40 PM
So, a little over a year ago, I decided I would try and make a custom 3D model the proper way. Making blueprints, extruding and shaping polygons, plotting out UV maps, and painting all of the textures. I decided to use Brawl's style after seeing how well-done the models were, even the enemies. I decided I would try and take it a step further by actually sort-of-planning out how they would fit in Brawl. It's one thing to simply make the character or object, but how will the model be used? If it's a fighter, what attacks would it use? Would it be a background decoration? Or an item? I try to plan out as much as I can about the model.

Unfortunately, I lack any sort of knowledge when it comes to actually implementing them. Sure, I tried mimicking the bone structure used by the official characters and using the same sort of shaders, but that's as far as I can go. That's where I need help. I'm hoping there is a person (or people) here who would be willing to implement these models to the best of their abilities. I may never get to use them myself, but seeing people have fun with them and knowing that my models have made them happy is good enough for me. Also, I'm not good at posing/animations, so it would be great if someone could help out with that, too.

Please note: I do not take requests, sorry.

So, without further ado, here is a list of my models. Please note that this list will be a mixed list, with more than just playable characters. Also, all of these are downloadable on The Models Resource.

Type: Fighter
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Color Sets:  (http://imageshack.us/a/img857/9800/yaridovichalts.png) Normal (R), Machine Made, Geno, Terra Cotta (G), Ice World (B), Golden

Comments: This is my first Brawl-style creation. Looking back, he's a bit basic, but it's a big step up from what I was making before. The design is a compromise between his sprite and official art, since they have different styles for his head. I updated him to add eyelids, fix the hair, and add details in general.

Functionality:  I tried planning out his play style, but didn't get very far. He would be a heavy character with longer-ranged attacks. While he would use his spear for most attacks, he would also throw in punches and kicks for close-range combat. He would also have a mid-range magic attack. I couldn't decide on what his Final Smash would be. One thought I had was Water Blast, where he'd just create a huge magical explosion of water vapor that would push everyone away and stuff. The other option was Mirage, where he would create a computer-controlled clone of himself to fight alongside him. The clone would have the same name tag (if possible) and would have a difficulty based on either the average ability of the user, the average of the CPU opponents, or just be level 7 or something.

Notes: He has a lot of unusual bones, such as for the cuffs of his glove and his mustache. Also, wind-flapping straps on his spear. This guy would need a lot of effort to be implemented. Considering Yarid's signature move is removing his head and placing it on his spear, it might make animation easier if you add duplicates of his head to his hand and spear and mask them as needed.

Released: Jun. 25, 2012
Type: Fighter
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Colors Sets: (large image warning) (http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/8383/bigrenders.png) Normal, Machine Made, Red Team (R), Green Team (G), Blue Team (B)

Comments: These guys were my second project, and certainly quiet ambitious compared to Yarid. I did a lot more planning, and figured out most of the details on how they would play. Unlike with Yaridovich, I'm still satisfied with how they turned out. Well, mostly. Coming up with a set of team colors for them was a pain. I even made a set of "official character portraits" for them (see color set image) but stopped short of making the in-battle portraits or stock icons. I also made props for them to use, such as teleportation effects and Black's bomb. Their designs are very similar to how they look in both the sprites and official art, with extra detail added in for their hands and arms. Why, yes, their ax blades are all different like that in the sprites.

Functionality: As I said, I put a lot more effort into planning out how these guys would play. I tried to make them somewhat unique as fighters while still staying within the realm of what is already possible in Brawl. The Axem Rangers would fight together as a team, very much like the Pokemon Trainer. One Axem fights at a time, and B+Down would cycle between them. They would all have a similar play style, with variations among them. In general, they would be quick and have average weight. Their fighting style is based around quick melee attacks with their axes. Red is the average one of the group, with decent attack power and no real specialties. Black is quicker than the rest, and has bombs he can lob. Pink is a bit light, but has magic that can disorient the other fighters. Green is the lightest and has the weakest physical hits, but he has powerful magic. Yellow is the heaviest and the hardest hitter. Their B+Up/Third Jump attack would be a short-range teleport that could be angled in any direction (like Zelda or Sheik). I even thought up their Final Smash! (See The Blade for more details.)

Notes: Noodle arms are a pain. I tried to set up the bones to maximize the number of bones in the arm while still using the same number as the normal fighters. Their fingers have three segments while fighter fingers normally only have two, so I figure that could be solved by modifying the model to have two of the segments be pre-bent. Also, as I mentioned, I made effects for them to use, but I didn't rig any of them. Effects include ax spin blur, ax blur trace (such as with swords), teleport blur, and a bomb for Black. All of the color-specific blurs have textures for all five color sets. All of them make use of an environment shader masked by a specular map, just like Samus.

By the way, I have a full set of trophies for these guys (http://www.mediafire.com/?4cik0lx1kr4m3h7). The textures aren't included since they are the same as the regular models. Note that you will have to add in the EyeShadow texture on the same mesh as the eyelids (but layered under it).

Breaker Beam Cannon fire! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-c6gcXsDHAI#)

http://The Blade 360 spin. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCXBWOM3MC8#)

Comments: This one took a lot of effort. It took me a couple of months to put it all together. I used some of the textures from the Castle Siege stage as a base and referenced others. The design has elements from the official artwork and the battlefield on which you fight the Axems, all combined with details from real castles and modern details. And yes, I also made the Breaker Beam Cannon to go with it. This was planned to merely be a prop for the Axem Rangers' Final Smash, but I guess it could easily a stage prop.

Functionality: I had two ideas for how the Axem Rangers' Final Smash would go, and I couldn't decide on which one I liked better, so I planned for both. The first idea was to have the Breaker Beam Cannon appear on the stage and have it fire the Breaker Beam sideways like the Zero Beam, but with a wider range and with the ability to turn it around instead of changing the angle. The other option (which I kinda like more) is to have the Blade ominously fly in from above as the Axem currently being used jumps to the background. It would then cut to a brief cutscene showing Axem Red activating the Breaker Beam. It would then cut back to the battle where the player could move a target reticule around to fire a giant beam. (Much like the Combo Cannon.)

Notes: Because of how many polygons the main model has, I made a pre-rendered cutout version that could be used mid-battle without much loading stress. It uses a normal map in order to dynamically be lit as if it was really in the stage, though I'm not sure if Brawl supports it. If not, I also included a version with lighting. I made a separate model of the deck with all of the hidden polygons deleted for use with the cutscene. I still included the full model in case someone wants to make a trophy or something. Note that the Breaker Beam Cannon is a separate model, so make sure not to forget it!

I made a trophy for the Breaker Beam Final Smash. (http://www.mediafire.com/?tbdy1y4e6tv9046) Again, the model will need environment shaders, and Axem's eyes will have to have layered textures for the eye whites, eye shadow, glowing eyes, and eyelids.

Color Sets:  (http://imageshack.us/a/img805/9783/vivianalts.png)Normal (R), Marilyn (G), Beldam (B), Boggly

Comments: This was a bit of a change of pace for me. Not only is it the first organic character I've done so far, but also a different type of character. Since she's from Paper Mario, I had to deal with the different set of proportions, and the fact that the only time we see her is as a flat image from mostly the same angle. I'm a bit disappointed with how her mouth came out, and I might change that some later. Since Brawl likes to try and preserve the style of the various characters, I also included an alternate version of her with a thick outline to be used with the same flattening trick that Mr. Game & Watch uses. The outline isn't all that great, so I prefer the normal look.

Functionality: Unlike the previous models, I figured she would be an Assist Trophy rather than a full-fledged fighter. After all, she's not a hugely important character. The idea I came up with is that she would slink into the shadows and wait for other fighters to come near. When an opponent is near, she would then pop up and sock them with punch that sets them on fire.

Notes: I have no idea how far Assist Trophy hacking has progressed (if at all), but I figured it would be nice to try something other than a fighter. I didn't make any effects for her, since I figure she would just use general fire effects. Her model is rather high-poly and has a lot of joints, so her model should probably be simplified before used as an Assist Trophy.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)5. Bowyer
Released: Jan. 5, 2013
Updated: Apr. 24, 2013 (v1.1)
Type: Boss
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Comments: Unlike with the other SMRPG bosses I have made so far, I designed this one to be a boss of sorts. He's about twice the size of Mario, and comes with a full set of props based on his original boss battle. Designing his new look was a bit of an interesting challenge. Bowyer is the most organic of the Smithy Gang bosses with a very little metal and a lot of hair. I decided to give him a look that combines this organic feel with cloth and metal, resulting in a sort of sewn-together monster.

Functionality: I imagined that, as a boss, Bowyer would focus on long-range attacks. The Aeros he pulls from his head could either hop around free or be fired as projectiles to dizzify the fighters. He would also have electrical field and bolt attacks to keep the player from getting close to him for too long. I even included a special color set for the controller buttons that mimic the buttons on the GameCube controller. By shooting them, Bowyer could prevent the player from either using standard attacks (A), special attacks (B), or jumping (Y). (The original idea was to lock shielding, but I realized that would be kind of dumb.) I imagine some of these ideas could probably translate into a fighter character role, though he would need a whole lot of tweaks to work right.

Notes: Since I doubt boss hacking has made much progress, Bowyer could maybe be a background prop or something. He has a bone for his string, which can be used to make it pull back when he uses an arrow attack. Since it would be annoying to animate if left in the center, I recommend keeping it positioned inside his hair when not in use.

Released: Jan. 5, 2013
Type: Prop
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Comments: A very simple model. Its design came from carefully studying its art and sprites. Did you ever realize how cute it is?

Functionality: Drill Bit was mostly made just to be a background prop or something. It only has one texture and a very simple bone structure. With some effort, I guess it could be made into an enemy or something.

Notes: The intended animation for the two center spinal bones is to have them shift side to side slightly, giving an effect like the one in the original sprites.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)7. Terrapin & Gu Goomba
Released: Jan. 5, 2013
Type: Prop / Enemy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Import by Spex130 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=31504)

Comments: I made this as a prop for one of my upcoming stages. This is my first (released) Brawl model that isn't completely custom. I edited it from the game's Koopa model. Since there is relatively little substance to this creation, I decided to add in texture edits for Gu Goomba as well.

Functionality: This guy is meant to be a background prop, but since it is edited from the SSE enemy model, I suppose you could easily swap it in. The pointy shoes may clip a bit through the ground when it walks, but oh well.

Notes: I deleted the wing and collision models, so you'd have to add them back in (or just use the original skeleton) if you ported him. The Gu Goomba is only textures, so no model modification needed.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)8. Treasure Box
Released: Feb. 12, 2013
Type: Prop
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Comments: This is yet another prop for one of my upcoming stages, the Weapons Factory. Unlike Terrapin, though, this one won't be limited to the background. Most of the textures for this object are based off of textures from Brawl stages. Namely, Rumble Falls for the wood and Frigate Orpheon for the metal.

Functionality: Once hacking becomes advanced enough, I'd like to see this implemented as an interactive object that animates just like the original. Of course, that could be years, if ever.

Notes: The model is rigged in such a way that it can either have the lid pop off or open from one side. If you want the question mark to disappear altogether, though, you'll have to do some extra work.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)9. Bowser's Keep
Released: Apr. 12, 2013
Type: Stage
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Import by DSX8 and I (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=34971)

Comments: While this isn't the first stage idea I've started on, this is the first one I have completed. It is inspired by the fight at the beginning of the game, with Mario facing off against Bowser high atop the chandeliers. While the battle starts out near the floor, this quickly changes as the platforms raise higher and higher. The battle continues on for a bit before the chandeliers suddenly drop, only to be caught seconds before smashing into the ground. The background design is meant to be a mix of the elements seen throughout the castle, with an arcade and Terrapin statues filling out what would otherwise be a boring room. Even though the battle takes place in the center of the room, I made sure to model out the ends as well, including the Bowser statue. I even through in a few modern touches, with the Bowser emblem and statue being from Super Mario Galaxy.

Functionality: Unlike my other stage idea, this one could be mostly implemented with current hacking technology. The size of the platforms is roughly based off of the Norfair stage, with each chandelier being as wide as the center platform, and the gap between them being about the same as the gap in the middle row of platforms. Once hacking is able to change things like objects, a wind effect could be placed in during the falling sequence.

Notes: Due to technical limitations, some compromises in the vision of the stage had to be made.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)10. Mack
Released: Apr. 16, 2013
Type: Boss
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Import by Nanobuds and Spex130 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=32197)

Comments: I was originally going to just make this guy as a quick background prop, but the more I tried to figure out how to design him, the more it built up in my mind. As a result, this is probably my finest redesign of a SMRPG boss to date. Since I was having trouble figuring out how to interpret his sprites and artwork, I decided to try the technique Sakurai mentioned for when they had to redesign Pit. Namely, I imagined what it would have been like if Mack had shown up in more games. The idea behind the design I came up with is that Mack is not just a sword, and he is not just the demon "riding" the sword, nor is he two separate entities stuck together. The whole thing is Mack, and the "demon rider" appearance is to throw off opponents and trick them into attacking a decoy and staying away from his main body.

Functionality: He would have a range of fire attacks and various stomping attacks, like the kind Galleom uses. He is very springy, so I tried to rig the model in such a way that it would animate in a convincing way without wires becoming stretched or flattened. Like my other bosses, I made a Machine Made color set for a possible rematch.

Notes: No, his name is not Mack the Knife.

(http://i.imgur.com/VqkYLT4.png)11. Oktavia von Seckendorff's Barrier
Released: Apr. 29, 2013
Type: Stage Background
Series: Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Download the Model (http://www.mediafire.com/?elkgrw2er9crr1l)

Comments: I made this a while ago, with no intention on bringing it to Brawl, but I figured some people would enjoy it, so here it is. As such, it is meant to be closer to the anime's art style than anything.

Functionality: This is a complete background, and is meant to be a resource more than a complete set piece. I did flatten the chairs, as there are nearly 8000 of them. Even still, there are 32,000 polygons in them, including both hemispheres.

Notes: Since it's meant to be a resource, you're welcome to do stuff like lower the polygon count in parts, cut it in half, or modify the floor for the sake of the stage's design (such as breaking the floor into pieces).

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)12. Mad Mallet
Released: Jun. 03, 2013
Type: Prop
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Comments: I actually made this back before I even started on Bowyer, but I didn't feel like releasing it until now. He is meant purely to be a background prop, and is low-poly to match. I also made textures for the recolors, Pounder and Poundette. Unlike most of the other SMRPG characters I have made, this is one whose design I never misinterpreted.

Functionality: Even though the model is fairly simple, he is rigged enough for basic animation. The model only uses a single 256x256 texture.

Notes: He is meant to be a prop for the Weapons Factory, but I'm releasing him now because it will still be a very long time before that stage is ever finished. As such, there is no model download yet.

Color sets:  (http://imageshack.us/a/img14/2895/qiqj.png) Normal, Shantae (R), Patty (B), Madoka

Comments: What is this!? Well, when I saw WayForward's joke for April Fools' Day this year (http://www.wayforward.com/blog/2013/4/1/get-ready-for-wayforwards-latest-epic-adventure-cat-girl-wit.html), I liked the hilariously absurd design enough that I thought I'd take a crack at it as sort of a joke. I wanted to have it done before April ended, but that didn't happen. Since it was sort of a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing, I didn't even plan out how she would fit in Brawl like I normally do. This is a very special case, so don't expect me to see any more left-field characters like this. Also, while I normally dislike the practice of cutting up parts of other models to create new ones, I used wings from Pit and Meta Knight, because I realized there would be no way for me to create more perfect angel and bat wings to use on her. Everything else is fully custom, though!

Functionality: As I said, I didn't really plan out anything for her. At first, I planned on making her on par with an Assist Trophy, but I realized the low polygon count wouldn't do the design justice. In case it helps, her proportions slightly based on Fox's. Also, I made a vector for a game logo to give her. It's a Fireworks PNG, so it still has its vector data.

Notes: No real green team color.

(http://i.imgur.com/ITuHNfR.png)14. The Flying Krock
Released: Sep. 22, 2013
Type: Stage Prop
Series: Donkey Kong
Game: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

Comments: This is my next big stage project! Or, part of it, at least. I finished the entire model in a single day, but it took me nearly three months to finish texturing it due to me falling ill. The design is very close to the original, thanks to Rare providing a high-resolution image of it in the official Player's Guide for the game. It's difficult to see it, but recreated the [censored]pit area from the showdown with Kaptain K.Rool as a little bonus. Inside the main cargo bay, I put DK's banana hoard, as a reference to the Game Boy Advance port of the game. It also contains large crates and barrels, based on the ones seen in the stage Lockjaw's Locker.

Functionality: Like with Bowser's Keep, I started this model because I was hit with inspiration for a very clear stage idea. The stage itself will probably be my next project, unless I'm hit with inspiration for something else. The Krock's model has a fair number of moving parts, with spotlights, sirens, rotors, and tail sections all rigged for movement.

Notes: I already have a complete idea of a stage using this model. You are welcome to attempt making your own stage with it, but keep in mind that I will still proceed to work on my own idea, no matter how similar to your idea it may be.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)15. Antasma
Released: Apr. 03, 2014
Type: Fighter
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

Color sets:  (http://imageshack.com/a/img716/7689/twx0.png) Normal, Antasma X (B), Screambert (R), Cackletta (G)

Comments: My first modern Mario character model! It's also taken the longest of any of the models I've made. Part of that is due to the fact that it's essentially three different models I had to make. (At least with the Axems, I could modify Red to make the rest.) As with Kebako, I didn't really plan on how he would play as a Brawl fighter. I did, however, make sure that he would have everything he would need to recreate all of his actions from Dream Team.

Functionality: Considering how unusual his body structure is in each form, I really doubt they will fit any sort of character hack. Also, his Nightmare form's cloak gave me a lot of trouble, to the point where I ended up reducing it to the bare minimum. It's not very realistic, limits his animation capabilities, and isn't all that great, but it's the best I can come up with for the time being.

Notes: The Dark Stone and Dream Stone props are in a separate download.

Type: Prop
Series: Donkey Kong
Game: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

Comments: I felt like making a random prop model that wouldn't take more than a day or two, so I made this. Isn't it shiny?

Functionality: I didn't really put any thought to how it could be used, as I just wanted to make something. It could be a stage decoration or a platform or a trophy or something.

Notes: The download contains two versions of the textures: Brawl style and realistic. Please use the Brawl style textures if you intend on importing it, as the realistic textures will clash with Brawl's art style.

(http://i.imgur.com/ReibcCB.png)17. Brycen Jet
Released: Jul. 30, 2014
Type: Prop
Series: Pokémon
Game: Pokémon Black Version 2 / White Version 2

Comments: Heard of it before? No? Well, it's pretty obscure. It's one of the later movie props from PokéStar Studios. It's the personal vehicle of the masked villain Brycen-Man, and the cannon it has can power up Pokémon (or people) using the dark jewel that powers it. Of course, you could easily swap out the crystal for another power source.

Functionality: Since the jet originated as a movie prop, I figured its best use would be as a movie prop. That's why I made the textures at twice the normal resolution so that it can be used in cut-scenes without looking too bad during closeups. All of the jet's movable parts (wings, flaps, pistons, shutters) are rigged. Also, the glass over the [censored]pit can be opened by translating the texture downward. Just make sure you move both parts of the glass and that the textures are clamped.

Notes: I included IK targets in the bone structure in case you want to go the extra mile and animate the pistons when the wings fold.

(http://i.imgur.com/cyKJinx.png)18. Butter Building Deluxe
Released: Sep. 6, 2014
Type: Stage
Series: Kirby
Game: Kirby Fighters Deluxe

Comments: As soon as the game was revealed, I knew I had to try and recreate the newly-added arena based on Kirby's Adventure. The stage mainly used graphics from the original game, though I had to recreate the new parts. Since they have such a fixed camera angle in the game, I had to use my best guess on certain features, such as the extended tower above and below. I made the main model in a single sitting, and the sky box in the next. This is certainly not my usual fare as far as custom models go, but I couldn't resist.

Functionality: Since this is mainly just a recreation, no thought or effort has gone into making this stage ready for Brawl. I included two versions of the tower model: one with shading and one without. For the one with shading, a texture movement animation could be used to imitate the tower rotating, though the columns and windows would have to rotate normally.

Notes: I included sprites for the various characters that show up on the stage, but made no models for them. Also, you may need to make the skybox model wider to compensate for the camera having a narrower field of view.

Comments: Orb User is one of my favorite enemies in SMRPG, so I had to make it. This is actually a remake of an old model I made which used a lot of primitives and intersecting parts. I made three variations of its design to imitate a hypothetical evolution from the original sprite to Super Mario Galaxy to Subspace Emissary enemy.

Functionality: Being a living staff, there's not much for Orb User to do. That said, I rigged it to be able to extend and have the orb bob up and down. The Subspace design also can have its head sections separate to reveal a bright glowing light. All three designs are available in all three colors.

Notes: All of the textures are at least twice as large as what Brawl would normally have. Also, I made the orb in full 3D, but it should always face the camera or the texture will look weird. You're welcome to replace the orb with a flat disc if you want to save on polygons.

Released: Nov. 11, 2014
Type: Item / Prop / Trophy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

Comments: It's the obscure power-up from Super Mario Land 2 that turns Mario into Bunny Mario! I was in a creative mood over the weekend and wanted something quick to model, and this was the result. The item has been redesigned to fit in with the other power-ups from Super Mario 3D World.

Functionality: The amount of detail in this model means that it would only really be suitable for either a trophy or the centerpiece of a stage.

Notes: Also includes cartoony versions of the textures for use outside of Brawl.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)21. Superstar Saga Blocks
Released: Nov. 30, 2014
Type: Prop / Trophy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

Comments: These are all of the blocks that appear in Superstar Saga. Like with the Super Carrot, the design was slightly tweaked to fit the style of modern Mario games.

Functionality: The amount of detail in these models means that they would only really be suitable for either a trophy or the centerpiece of a stage.

Notes: Also includes cartoony versions of the textures for use outside of Brawl.

(http://i.imgur.com/cyKJinx.png)22. Heavy Mole
Released: May 3, 2015
Type: Boss
Series: Kirby
Game: Kirby's Adventure

Comments: Heavy Mole is one of my favorite Kirby bosses, so I had a lot of fun making this model. Even though I prefer the original NES game to the GBA version in many ways, I based much of the design on the sprites and artwork from Nightmare in Dream Land due to the artwork being more detailed and more mechanically feasible. I had to get creative with the underside, since Heavy Mole has only ever been seen from the top or at a high angle.

Functionality: This thing is complicated to animate, especially the teeth.

Notes: Once again, all of the textures are larger than what would be recommended for Brawl. Includes a "DX" version of the model based on Kirby Triple Deluxe. Also includes Dygclops and spin effect.

(http://i.imgur.com/VqkYLT4.png)23. Heart Drive
Released: Jul. 20, 2015
Type: Item
Series: WayForward Games
Game: Mighty Switch Force!

Comments: I really like the MSF games, and I wanted to make something simple and quick, so here it is. The design incorporates details from the games and real life floppy disks. The "sticker" on front is actually a lit screen.

Functionality: I figure it could be an item, like a replacement for the Heart Container or something. I made a very low-poly version for that purpose.

Notes: I didn't bother with bones. Note that the item tilts about 10 degrees to the left in MSF, but I left the model at a right angle.

Released: Sep. 28, 2015
Type: Fighter (DK)
Series: Donkey Kong
Game: Donkey Kong Country (TV Series)

Import by DSX8 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=210215)

Comments: I was bored.

Functionality: The model was built over DK's skeleton and does not modify it in any way.

Notes: sorry, not sorry

(http://i.imgur.com/ITuHNfR.png)25. Crocodile Isle
Released: Jan. 1, 2016
Type: Stage Background
Series: Donkey Kong
Game: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

Comments: Two years of work! This island has a lot of small details on it that reference the original game, including pathways and landmarks. A lot of the textures were taken from Subspace Emissary to help it fit Brawl's style.

Functionality: The level of detail on the island means that it can serve as a good background both up close and far away. However, most of the trees are flat planes, so it does not look good from high angles.

Notes: Needs vertex-based transparency for things like the swamp, fog, and waves.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)26. One-Way Wall
Released: Jan. 29, 2016
Type: Prop
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario Maker

Comments: One of the few brand-new gadgets introduced in Super Mario Maker. If you've ever wanted to have one in a Mario-themed stage, now you can!

Functionality: It has about 1500 polygons, which means you may have to make your own lower-poly version if you want to use it in a stage. Otherwise, it could make a good trophy. The scrolling arrow mesh is designed in such a way that you can use vertex shading to darken the arrows as they scroll under the roller.

Notes: Also made PBR textures for it, though I don't recommend using them for Brawl.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)27. Mokura
Released: Apr. 3, 2016
Type: Enemy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Comments: It's a poison cloud monster. There's not much to it.

Functionality: The model is based off of Spaak, the cloud enemy in SSE. All of the bones are intact, so you should be able to import it easily.

Notes: I don't know if the closed mouth is used but I made a texture for it anyway.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)28. Octolot
Released: Apr. 17, 2016
Type: Enemy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Comments: Another one of my favorite SMRPG enemies. This  strange octopus mage uses powerful elemental magic in addition to blobs of ink. The coloring is somewhat inspired by the Octolings of Splatoon.

Functionality: The mouth has more polygons than usual because it is meant to stretch a great deal. The model overall has about as many polygons as some fighters, but its unusual body structure prevents it from being useful for anything other than props.

Notes: The model also has two little mouths in each staff's shell, which should normally be shrunk down and hidden inside.

(http://i.imgur.com/0kOjusk.png)29. Frog Switch
Released: May 28, 2016
Type: Prop
Series: Wario
Game: Wario Land 4

Comments: My first Wario series model! Comes with Frog Blocks, too.

Functionality: If stage hacking were more advanced, this thing could be used as an interactive stage element. Otherwise, it's probably only good as a background decoration.

Notes: The block's off state looks rather busy. If you want it to look cleaner, or you just want to save polygons, you can hide/remove the "inside" mesh.

(http://i.imgur.com/0kOjusk.png)30. Jewel Piece Box
Released: Jun. 5, 2016
Type: Prop
Series: Wario
Game: Wario Land 4

Comments: Another WL4 model. I tried to keep this one low-poly. More than half of the polygons are in the mask on the front. For the jewels themselves, I made all of the colors used by the game, including the two different colors for Golden Passage.

Functionality: It's a box that can open. Ideally, it would be great for dispensing items in a stage, but it could also serve as a solid object or background decoration.

Notes: The jewel is not rigged, and its axis center is the center of the completed gem, not the individual piece, which means you will have to re-center the model if you want to use the piece individually for something.

(http://i.imgur.com/ITuHNfR.png)31. Kremkoin
Released: Aug. 1, 2016
Type: Prop
Series: Donkey Kong
Game: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

Comments: It's another collectible coin from DKC2, this time with K. Rool's face on it. There are two designs, and even a blank one for anyone who wants to get creative with the design.

Functionality: There's not much to it. Maybe it could be used as a background decoration or something. The high-poly models are around 3700-4000 polygons each, while the low-poly version is around 300-400.

Notes: I made a cheap normal map for the low-poly versions to use. Even if you can't use it directly, you could use it add shading to the otherwise-flat textures.

(http://i.imgur.com/cyKJinx.png)32. Apolo
Released: Sep. 4, 2016
Type: Enemy
Series: Kirby
Game: Kirby's Dream Land 3

Comments: These little guys spin around trees and pillars all day. I imagine that, in Subspace Emissary, these guys would serve as bonuses for players to gain small health boosts in out-of-the-way areas.

Functionality: I know custom enemy hacking isn't really a thing, so these guys could serve as a background decoration in a Kirby-themed forest stage.

Notes: As usual, I made the textures larger than necessary.

(http://i.imgur.com/cyKJinx.png)33. HB-002 & HB-007
Released: Sep. 13, 2016
Type: Prop
Series: Kirby
Game: Kirby's Dream Land 3

Comments: These blocky guys are just about the only friendly characters in KDL3 worth modeling that aren't cameos. I figure they could hang out in the background of a Kirby-themed stage. I recreated all of their faces from the game, including the angry ones.

Functionality: Their rigging and textures aren't good enough for a fighter, but they are good enough for simple idle animations.

Notes: As usual, I made the textures larger than necessary.

(http://i.imgur.com/cyKJinx.png)34. Transformer
Released: Oct. 16, 2016
Type: Enemy
Series: Kirby
Game: Kirby's Dream Course

Comments: This enemy gives Kirby a random ability, and is the only single enemy to do so in the entire Kirby series. Because it is also the only original enemy in Dream Course, I knew I had to make a model of it. I imagine that it would grant random effects, like Metal or Spicy, when defeated in Subspace Emissary.

Functionality: Since enemy hacking isn't possible yet, it would make a nice decoration for a Dream Course stage.

Notes: There are two different ways to animate the slot drum: rotating the bone, or using texture transformation animation. For those that want a challenge, use the "shade" texture as one layer, then multiply the "multiply" texture over it as another layer, and then only animate the multiply layer. This will give the model Brawl-like shading while also having rotating question marks.

(http://i.imgur.com/0kOjusk.png)35. Keyzer
Released: Nov. 10, 2016
Type: Prop
Series: Wario
Game: Wario Land 4

Comments: I just had to make this cute little guy after making the other WL4 models. He's meant to be a background decoration, which is why he is rather low-poly.

Functionality: He has a good amount of face bones and layered eyes.

Notes: The mouth has a backside in case you want to make the ghost body transparent.

Released: Jan. 21, 2017
Type: Item / Prop
Series: Pokémon
Game: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time / Explorers of Darkness

Comments: I know I'm not the first person to make a model of this thing, but I like the design and it is simple enough. After making it, I realized it could make a good replacement for the Timer.

Functionality: I made a low-poly version that should hopefully be small enough to work as an item.

Notes: The models are not rigged and are not to any particular scale.

(http://i.imgur.com/tngpNHR.png)37. Barney Bubble
Released: Mar. 20, 2017
Type: Prop
Series: Yoshi
Game: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Comments: This is one of my favorite enemies from any Yoshi game. The design isn't all that unique, but I couldn't leave him as one of the few Yoshi's Island enemies that haven't received a 3D model.

Functionality: With only about 900 polygons, he could make for a good background decoration.

Notes: The eyes are rigged separately from the body so that they can be moved to the side of the face to resemble the sprite.

(http://i.imgur.com/ReibcCB.png)38. Flying Palace
Released: Jul. 8, 2017
Type: Stage
Series: Pokémon
Game: Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One

Comments: This is a recreation of the airship from the second Pokémon movie. A few of the textures are from Mario Kart 8. Only the exterior is modeled.

Functionality: There propellers and and cannon tower are all fully rigged. The propellers are separate models to keep things simple.

Notes: The only difference between the versions of the main model are the red bars. The mid- and high-poly versions have way too many polygons for Brawl.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)39. Vibe Scepter
Released: Jul. 18, 2017
Type: Item
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Princess Peach

Comments: A magical artifact that controls emotions. I imagine it would be a good fit for an item in Smash Bros., where it remotely inflicts status conditions on opponents. The four Vibes would correspond to spicy, sleep+heal, low gravity, and high speed.

Functionality: The model is just the right size for an item, though the polygons might need to be optimized a bit.

Notes: There are more faces on the rod than there is space for faces, which means UV animations would be needed to show them all.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)40. Pinwheel
Released: Aug. 20, 2017
Type: Enemy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Comments: This floating stone enemy can blow fighters away with strong gusts of wind.

Functionality: It has two faces that it can swap between. Other than that, the only animation it is capable of is spinning its blades. At the very least, it would make for a nice decoration in a stage based on SMRPG.

Notes: There are two alternate texture sets based on unused sprite palettes in the game.

(https://i.imgur.com/kjxqfhQ.png)41. Big Shaker
Released: Sep. 10, 2017
Type: Boss
Series: Sonic the Hedgehog
Game: Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Comments: My first Sonic series custom! The design incorporates elements from Colors and Mania.

Functionality: The only thing this model can do is spin its two pairs of rockets. Otherwise, it could be a decoration for a stage or even a stage hazard.

Notes: The mesh is designed in a way that it would be easy to convert it into the Sonic Mania boss, Laundro Mobile. There is also an alternate texture that uses Mania's colors.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)42. Chikako (Glitter)
Released: Sep. 26, 2017
Type: Enemy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario Land

Comments: An obscure enemy from Super Mario Land that most people probably didn't realize was an actual character. The design is based entirely on the official artwork, since the sprite is so tiny. I made several different color and face variations.

Functionality: It doesn't really have any moving parts, other than a face. It could probably serve as a replacement for Jyk or Glunder, or it could be a background prop or stage hazard.

Notes: Electric effects not included.

Released: Dec. 11, 2017
Type: Item
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Paper Mario: Color Splash

Comments: Three of the unique hammer designs from the newest Paper Mario games.

Functionality: These could be used to create custom new items, or they could be used to simply replace the regular Hammer item model.

Notes: Separate head models not included.

Released: Feb. 5, 2018
Type: Enemy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Super Paper Mario

(https://i.imgur.com/mp7BPcZ.png) (https://i.imgur.com/KbRObFf.png)

Comments: Shield-generating enemies that fire laser rings. The shields they produce are much stronger than regular fighters' shields.

Functionality: They could be used as a background prop. Attack and shield effects are included.

Notes: Their shield effect is mostly a copy of the standard fighter shield, including textures.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)45. Geno
Released: Apr. 1, 2018
Type: Fighter
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Comments: Surprise! It's a Smash 64 version of everyone's favorite possessed doll.

Functionality: Each arm has a hidden cannon and laser beam inside the forearm. The bone proportions are somewhere between Smash 64 Mario and Brawl Mario.

Notes: This was an April Fool's Day joke, but the model is real.

(http://i.imgur.com/jgkVWqx.png)46. Phanto
Released: May 25, 2018
Type: Enemy / Assist Trophy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game: Super Mario Bros. 2

Comments: A spooky mask that chases down anyone that touches its stuff. Comes in four different versions, including the golden version seen in Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario Advance, but I consider the one you see here to be the "definitive" version.

Functionality: It's basically just a mask. I added a bunch of extra textures, so this mask can either be separate, worn by a character, or used as a background prop. A transparency texture allows the eye and mouth of the mask to be see-through. Could be used in Smash 4 as a Blue Shell replacement.

Notes: Included a "curse" marking that can be used as an effect of some kind.

Being one of 7 available partners in 1 out of 4 paper mario titles warrants her a spot as a fighter?

Each of the available partners in TTYD each had an important part of the plot allotted to them in some way, with the exception of Ms.Mowz. They were basically secondary main characters.

-but does it really matter? It's simply my opinion and he doesn't have to change a thing. So why question it?

I'm not really sure, exactly. I guess I'm looking for someone(s?) who is competent enough with model importing and shader creation to bring the model into the game in a way that preserves their design (and not ending up like the Axem Green currently on the site.)

It would be amazing to see the models implemented with the full move sets I originally planned and character animations that fit them, but I know very well the humongous amount of effort that would require. Considering I'm just a random guy that likes to make models, there's no way I could expect anybody to go through all that trouble just because I put the ideas out. What I want most is for people to enjoy my models and enjoy using them, both in how they look and in how they are implemented.

I'll also need people to help playtest the stage I am planning (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=55111.0), since I can't really make the stage model itself unless I know the layout is good.

The models look pretty awesome man!

As for them becoming full playable characters, I'd suggest making more important or iconic characters I guess... I dunno bout you, but I really don't see a random boss from Super Mario RPG as a character compelling enough for a full moveset and what not. The models themselves though are really awesome, and I can't wait to see how they get implemented, even if they just end up as costume imports.

Keep on doing your thing man, and I can't wait to see what else you got in store!

Don't worry, that's why I try to put a lot of thought into the characters. Part of the reason I picked Yaridovich and the Axem Rangers is exactly because they're a bit obscure. Everyone always tries to make Geno, because he's pretty much the main character everyone thinks of. Ignoring the fact they're one-time bosses, they're probably the most capable fighters in the game. (Just watch the boss battle with the Axems again.) I only designed them to be fighters because I knew they could fit the role. This is why I only designed Vivian to be an Assist Trophy. In spite of the fact that she's probably more well-known, I knew she wouldn't have the capability to be a full-fledged fighter.

The dowload links for all of the models are in the first post, near the top.

I figure Brawl has some kind of IK system (for things like Samus grappling to ledges) so I figure Vivian would use something similar.

Can I import Vivian? :D

I would put her over a playable character though, not an assist trophy.

Importing allows us to put the models over the bones of existing characters. Who do you think she would look best on?

I would say to rig Vivian's tail-thingy to either the TopN or TransN but it still wouldn't be stuck to the ground while she jumps. :P
@Nano I'm not sure who she should be over, but maybe Ani could make a custom bone set for her and then rig her to that and use her in the Paper Mario moveset. :af2:

I finished another model! Sorry to disappoint most of you, but this one isn't even close to being a good fighter. Instead, I made a boss! Of course, if boss hacking isn't possible yet, I guess he could be a background prop I guess.

Bowyer is roughly twice as tall as Mario, while Aero is a bit shorter. I also made the switch buttons he uses, because it wouldn't do him justice to leave them out.

I'll have the download link up in a day or so.

Nah, I only just started (properly) making models a little over a year ago. I mean, sure, I've been messing around with models for about five, but I never made anything more than some stuff made of spheres and cubes.

Anyway, I don't know if Nanobuds will be happy or unhappy, but I just updated Vivian. Specifically, I increased the polygon count in her torso, and doubled (quadrupled) the polygons in her hair. Since that's a lot of polygons, the higher-poly version is available as a separate model.

In fact, the update was only a few minutes ago, so the server may not have updated to provide the correct model yet. You'll know you have the right zip if there are two .DAEs inside.

Who would Bowyer go over though?

The only thing I can picture is putting him over an assist trophy, Jeff for example. He could crouch down, fire his arrows that home in on the characters.

For the record, your models are some of the most impressive I've ever seen, and if you're sticking to SMRPG for now, can I suggest Smithy, or 3D versions of Mario, Bowser, and Peach (since Mallow and Geno are already done) to go over their respective characters?

I think it'd be interesting to see these over the actual characters, they're real cutesy and would be fun to have in the game:

long time im looking for a "classic-style" mario O.O
a high and low poly version would be great.

But create the model you want because the result is the best then :)

You should upload your models on "the models resource" web page!

I wish i can do that too!

He does upload them to the Model's Resource, infact that's the only place (that I know of) that we can download these sexy models before the model is rigged over somebody. lol
And I would love to see those SMRPG Mario, Peach, and Bowser, though Bowser would be hard to rig, due to Brawl Bowser's weird animations.

Of the SMRPG characters, Mario, Peach, and Bowser are probably the last characters I'd consider making. After all, they are all in Brawl already. Trying to make those specific versions would just be a matter of deforming the normal models until they're all blobby and weird. (The same goes to the other Mario enemies in the game, like Goomba, Blooper, etc.)

I'm tempted to give a hint as to what my next model will be, but it's probably obvious enough already. :P

Do you do low* poly models at all? I'm sure there would be at least someone who'd be interested in importing these into Mario Kart Wii as well.

*By low poly I mean around 600-1000 faces.

I have no plans to make lower-poly versions of them, and if I did, I'd probably use polygon reduction anyway. :P

Part of my resolution for the new year is the promise to focus on some projects I have been neglecting (mapping OoT:MQ and YI:SMA3), so it could be a while before my next character model.

In the mean time, I'm still trying to get my stage imported for play-testing purposes. I would greatly appreciate some help in this area, as I can't make the stage if I don't know the layout.

I'm no stage expert...

But there's two possibilities for "The Blade".

It could be a Wifi safe mod for Halberd. There's a lack of REALLY amazing Wifi Safe stages in the vault.

Or, it could use Halberd as a base to build on to make a new stage... One or the other. Though either way, it might need some vertices reduced.

...

On a side note. I LOVE your Vivian model. It's my favorite Ness hack now... Gives me a reason to try and get good with Ness. XD

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: Bowyer

Someone is welcome to make a stage out of the Blade, but I'm not going to be the one who makes it. I'm not sure how well the Wi-Fi-safe Halberd mod would work, considering it would likely need to have the same physical structure for the playfield the entire time (and I imagine the decks don't match), though I'm just guessing.

On the subject of stages, I've uploaded a third version of my stage layout.

Hm... Yeah... I think I had a derp moment there... A Wifi safe version PROBABLY wouldn't work out...

But still. If someone makes the stage. It could be built from the Halberd's coding. Since that would let the ship attack every now and then... Which would work well for the Breaker Beam.

Though I'm not sure what would replace the claw attack, or the canon ball...

Eh, I don't know. Whoever takes up the stage can figure out that stuff.

Besides lowering the saturation in his colors to match the game's style, I added a lot of little details, such as embroidery on his cape and a belt that actually looks like a belt. Oh, and I made a little buddy for him, too!

Two things:

First, why the [censored] are the Axem Rangers over Ness anyway? Who said they were 4"8?

Mario, Peach, Geno, and etc were all that height too. Most characters were that height on that Super Nintendo RPG. Use your imagination here.

Most importantly, the rig is... Not good at all least to say. They're not even holding the damn axe/bat for God's sake!

Second, is Yaidovich going over Ike? Feel like its the best fit.

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: Yaridovich Update
Post by: Peardian on January 18, 2013, 04:12:02 PM
Yeah, the Axems currently in the vault are rather unsatisfactory. Not only do they look weird, but Pink wasn't done at all. Of all the fighters, I think Toon Link might be the best base to use. (After all, he's the only short, non-puffball sword user.)

Unless there's an easy way to graft Ike's flapping headband onto Marth's mesh to use for the spear, Ike might be the best bet. Sure, Marth is lighter and has generally quick attacks, but his stabbing moves are more suitable for a spear than Ike's big swings.

Anyways ItalianStallion has a point on all the SMRPG characters being teh same height, so the Axems may or may not be that short.

I don't know what height they would be if SMRPG didn't have weird proportions/scale going on, but I did design my Axem models to have specific sizes, with Red being a tad shorter than Mario, and the rest edited from there. For instance, did you know that Black is a tiny bit shorter than Red?

Red - Mario
Green - Luigi
Black - Wolf
Pink - Peach
Yellow - King Dedede

If you look at the models, you'll see that Yellow is the same height as Red, just fatter. This makes him look stubbier.

@ItalianStallion: Well, my Axem models aren't influenced by any fan art, and they aren't meant to be redesigns or radical interpretations. I stayed very faithful to their sprite designs, which has them at roughly Mario's size. (And they do in fact have subtle height differences.) Sorry they're not tall or humanoid like you prefer to imagine them to be, but that's just how they are.

I'd only make it if I could come up with a fun and interesting concept to go with it. I'm not a big fan of those stages where they are completely static and only have a flashy background as their main feature. As iconic as it might be to some, it would be a relatively bland place to fight.

Hm...

Well, for a touny banned as hell stage.

You COULD make it based on that part where you can go down the tree trunks. And can fight underground, as well as above ground...

...

But... Hm... That would have some SERIOUS "cave of life" issues... But eh, do what you want.

And, if you want to see these stages come about sooner, the best thing you can do for me right now is simply download and play-test the stage prototype I have. (See my signature.) I want to make stages that look really nice, sure, but I want them to be really fun, too. So please, please help out!

What stages do you like then?

Stages like Icicle Mountain? Mushroomy Kingdom?

If you don't mind explaining cause you can't have a serious match on stages like those. I know plenty of Brawlers who will back me up on this statement.

Just curious that's all.

I like all the stages. I have some favorites, of course, but I enjoy stages like Smashville as much as I enjoy stages like Mushroomy Kingdom. That's why I leave all stages on in the stage selection list.

When I say "fun and interesting", I don't mean "packed with gimmicks and danger". Let's take Smashville for instance. The layout, while very simple, is also unique, and the moving platform allows for some interesting fights. But, if that's all there was to the stage, it wouldn't be very appealing. Having the stage change its lighting to match the internal clock and having different random characters from the game spectating in the background each time the stage is played on helps make it fun to play on and to look at, and really gives it that Animal Crossing vibe. That's the kind of feeling I want to give to my stages.

I can handle the visual design of the stages fine, but I can't effectively design the layout of the stage alone. This is why I am asking for as many people as possible to play-test my stage prototype.

I wouldn't mind putting that in the SSE, if you'd be willing.

I actually have some experience putting enemies in the SSE. Even though they're done, I never uploaded them (out of sheer laziness, really. Lol!)

Sure, go for it!

(Also, I'm kind of surprised there hasn't already been a Gu Goomba edit before.)

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot to mention! Assuming you do implement the masked reflection shader I designed it with, I recommend using ~70%-80% for the strength of the reflection on both materials.

Of course. They were fully functional.

The first was never released because I got lazy (And now someone's gone and done the same thing, so now I can't, lol). The second wasn't because I found a better model. I butchered that one T-Posing and retexturing it the first runthrough.

What? What do you mean the box looks suspicious (http://imageshack.us/a/img18/5995/pandoritebrawl.png)? Nah, it's just you-- oh! (http://imageshack.us/a/img690/7371/treasureboxmimicbrawl.png)

...any differnce in the GBA remake?
Also I'd either love to see any of them bosses, since Bowser Jr (Giant) has been made, I think maybe you could make your own version with custom models, also the fully animated one needs to loop anyway, or make it so everyone dies when BJ crushes the last platforms like in YI.

Huh. Why haven't I wandered into this thread sooner? This work is amazing. Why aren't you working for NCL, Peardian?

I know I said Vivian wasn't designed to be a fighter, but I couldn't let a perfectly good import of her go without a set of official alternate colors!
([url]http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/9783/vivianalts.png[/url])
(Sorry, Green Team, you get stuck with Marilyn.)
Discovering this made me laugh, because I made a set of Vivian recolors a few weeks ago that I never uploaded. They aren't quite the same because I didn't reference the other two sirens' colors, but I made a yellow, blue, green, cotton candy, and black/dark purple one. And here we had official recolors all this time.

I suppose I should upload the Vivian recolors I did sometime. Just need to get around to putting the textures on the lineless and 2d versions, make CSPs/BPs, and set it all up for download. I don't like leaving anything out.

I could just add those in with my recolors when I upload them, since I'll be collabing both of you anyway. Still might be a few days, though, with school starting up.

Alrighty. I'll see when I can get around to uploading those.

Although, concerning adding the Marilyn/Beldam/Boggly to make it a single submission, I noticed there were "paper" versions of those recolors and a texture meant for shading them to I guess produce a certain effect? I'm not experienced enough with shaders and not quite sure what you were aiming for with those ones. I'm guessing it was for the radial-gradient-style shading that Paper Mario 2 uses.

If you're terribly fond of getting that PM2 effect, It'd probably be better to leave it to Nano to upload your M/B/B recolors with both the brawl-style textures and the paper effect, while I upload my recolors separately.

Or, I can upload my recolors with your M/B/B recolors, all just in Brawl-style, as a single submission, while collabing you and crediting Nano for the import.

...I am also not against learning whatever this paper-shader technique is, though.

All my imports are free to be edited. Just credit me, no need for collab.
Noted.

I don't suppose you've looked at the recolors he posted in your thread and know what to do with that papershader texture and the flat colors? I'm rather new to editing materials and shaders.

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: SMRPG Treasure Box
Post by: Peardian on March 27, 2013, 05:59:18 AM
The paper shader isn't really important at all. It's just a little something I came up with to go with the flatness effect, and admittedly I'm not even sure how the shader would be put together. In fact, I probably didn't even design it right for what my idea was.

Ah, okay then. Well, the Brawl-esque textures seem to go fine with the 2-D effect anyway, so I guess I'll just ignore the flat ones, then.

A lot fo the paper imports's outline look funny at times, which I know how they're made. I would love to figure out how G&W's outline works because it isn't done the same as most people make their outlines, and his look better to me in my oppion.

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: SMRPG Treasure Box
Post by: Peardian on March 27, 2013, 04:34:06 PM
Being solid-colored means Mr. Game & Watch can get away with visual tricks that regularly-textured models can't. This means things like always having the outline render behind the main body. The outline is otherwise done the same way as the usual method, except they were able to make it thicker than usual due to said trick. Try opening up his model and see for yourself.

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: SMRPG Treasure Box
Post by: Kage Ryu on March 27, 2013, 05:04:43 PM
He also seems to have two outlines instead of one for every object in his body. There's a difference in how their materials work, and I think one of them is for the 2-D flattening effect, since the material has "ZOff" in the name. They also use Light Set -1 instead of 20...not sure of the significance, but I'll be testing this out.

...Probably not on Vivian, but I do have another character I'm importing that has an outline, so I will be experimenting with this.

[EDIT]
...Aaaaand, finished setting up every version of all of Viv's recolors.
Now I just need to test them...all. Gonna hold off until tomorrow for that. *runs off to school*

[EDIT2]

I would probably attempt rigging these guys over characters and making a PSA for them if the transition wasn't smooth, but the fact that it's been several years since I've played a borrowed copy of Super Mario RPG hasn't left me with the inspiration to do so.

Though Maybe someday I'll put the Axems over Ice Climbers for kicks. Unless someone else does it first.

I second this. Smithy, while a kinda bland villain, would make an excellent Dedede hack.

Mack... Well, outside of maybe a stage background element (or if someone would bother figuring out how SSE bosses are coded, and can recode it). I highly doubt he could be made into anything usable in Brawl.

Nope. Not at all as of yet.

It's kinda funny... After all this time. You'd think Assist Trophies, and SSE related stuff could be hacked by now. Though I guess it's because not many people care for items. At least not big name hackers. And most people don't seem to care for SSE... Even though I think new stages would give me a reason to play it again.

Even though the hack for it is it not finished yet, I decided to put up an entry in the first post for my first complete stage, Bowser's Keep.

The model is finished, but the person making it into a full-fledged stage (DSX8) is going to be taking a lengthy break. This is where I need your help. Since it could be a very long time before he returns, he is willing to let someone else take over from where he left off. With it up in the air like this, there's a chance it could never be finished unless someone steps in to finish it. All of the pieces are ready, they just need to be put together.

Read more info here. (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=56553.msg1125644#msg1125644)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For a while, I have wondered what it would be like if some of the models I have made were in Subspace Emissary. With help from DinnerSonic, I was able to put these together using assets from various SSE levels. Just as Subspace Emissary never needed words to convey the message, I will let the images speak for themselves. They were rendered in Cinema 4D and composited in Fireworks.

These models look amazing. I was thinking about how some of these models could be used in Brawl, as some of them wouldn't really make good characters, and I did think of one; if a Forest Maze stage was created, the Bowyer could be used in the background. He could appear after about 30 seconds of a match, and begin to shoot arrows straight up into the air. The arrows would go out of the screen, and come down at random spots in the battle area, making it possible to be hit by them.

Not very original, but I thought that'd be a cool use for Bowyer.

I'm still not done with my next model yet (almost!), but here is something to play with until then:

The Axems and Blade have been ported to Garry's Mod & Source Film Maker (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=153629003) by none other than Random Talking Bush. It seems he's planning on adding my other models to the pack soon, so keep the page bookmarked just in case!

Actually, one of my friends did show someone at WayForward, and they said they were impressed. :D It was quite a complement, considering who it came from.

And wow, I didn't expect anyone to want to attempt it! Good luck on it, as you'll probably need to do some heavy-duty bone/animation editing to get her to animate properly.

Really impressive stuff, all of your work is incredible. Pit seems like a good fit to put her over but it would be an interesting character to have over Samus to.

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: ?!?!?!?
Post by: BlueBrain on July 02, 2013, 05:12:16 PM
yah, i think samus could be an option, but it wouldn't be one-slot, so she'd need a full set of recolors, another option would be a simple fox import, and make the blaster invisible, so she shoots out of her arm gun...

then there's pit, but the wings are way too low, so it would also need some bone edits.

so yeah here's what each option has and lacks:

-SAMUS: has epic cannon arm, lacks posibility of one-slot (maybe it's possible butit would need some weird editting)
-FOX: has similar proportions, thus easily made, has a rapid-fire attack that fits the gun, has animated tail, doesnt really lack anything...
-PIT: has wings, lacks a logical purpose, since well, she has a giant gun, and pit uses two swords/a bow...

so yeah, i'd go for samus or fox, what do you people think?

Yeah, I didn't really put any thought into HOW they would be used. I kinda figured the Calamarites would be part of a Final Smash or something, with them floating around and shooting lasers.

Oh, did I mention she also has a sword? It's the one in the mock screenshot.

Funny how on the Fox you forget to mention that Fox has no wings, which I'm sure is going to be noticeable with the wings being still, but might looks decent. I honestly have no f-ing idea who that girl is, unless you took some character and made major modifications to make this interesting creation. :af:

Post by: Spex130 on July 02, 2013, 05:32:24 PM
At the moment, Fox and Pit seem like a good fit. A little special rigging could get the wings working on Fox, maybe.

Pit seems the most viable to be able to use all of the props though. With a little bit of magic I might even be able to make it all one-slot.

We can split up and  modify the sword to fit all of Pit's stages, and if we wanted to we could even make the swords full-sized. The Gatling cannon can itself can take the place of the bow article and stage.

The Calamarites also could take over Pit's FS, unlike Fox. Unless you want a giant squid tank or something.

well, if you make the bone edits and send me a .max file with them in it, i'll start the rigging soon i guess, im not entirely sure how pit's stuff is set up though...

It does define material placement (I just checked), the program you're using just isn't importing it properly. Anyway, it uses the eye white texture.

Er, that works too, I guess. But when I said eye white texture, I meant "KebakoEyeWhite".

Also, the matchup between the different ref/env textures used might not be immediately apparent. You can usually figure it out by looking at the filenames/render, but let me know if there are any you're not sure of.

I'm still working on my next big model, so in the meantime, I figured I would try something out. With much help from DinnerSonic, I was able to translate Brawl's stage lighting parameters to what I use. These screenshots are the result.

Before anyone asks, no, these are not model imports. I used real screenshots as a base and added in some of my models with the help of the recreated light data. Pardon the poses, I'm not very good at that. I don't plan on making any more fake screenshots like this, as this was merely a test. The main reason for doing this is so that I can make more accurate Subspace Emissary mockups, as well as test my model textures in something close to the game's actual lighting.

Know what else?
Ganondorf, Lucas, the Cracker Launcher, and R.O.B. were all added in as well.

Thanks, guys. I guess I may as well show this, too. It's Ganondorf with Bridge of Eldin's lighting, shadowing, and a little bloom.

For those of you interested in learning how to translate the lighting on your own, I'll put a little tutorial below.
It's really quite simple. In fact, a number of you regular stage-makers have probably already figured it out.

First off, lights in Brawl have about 200% power compared to what they do in regular modeling programs, or at least as far as characters are concerned. Some other objects may differ in terms of lighting, such as the Pitfall item, which only receives 75% of the light, leading to an appearance of 150%. To set up your light, simply enter the same RGB value that Brawl shows and double the light's strength.

Positioning the lights is easy, but a bit tricky in some places. Brawl's coordinates are Y-up, whereas some modeling programs are Z-up. This means that when it comes time to copy in the coordinates, you may have to put the Y value in your Z coordinate and vice-versa. Also, Brawl's Z-axis is inverted compared to what modeling programs use, so you will have to flip the sign when copying the Z-values.

Aiming the light is easy. First, place the light in the coordinates indicated by the Start XYZ. Then, put a null/empty object at the End XYZ coordinates. Then, simply make the light object aim at/target the null object.

And that's it. With this knowledge, you can now test how your character model will look before you finish texturing it, or you can easily translate the lighting you set up for your stage to Brawl.

You could say that about most classic games ever; I only played so many as a kid, and even though I've touched on DKC2, I certainly never played any portion that involved a gigantic crocodile airship. Were my school loans and standard-of-living costs not consuming each paycheck at every opportunity, I would have already dowloaded every VC game available on the eShop and instead of being here, I'd be holed up with a fancy TV and soft sofa engrossed in them.

But I probably should have looked at the OP. Completely forgot that you keep everything there with whatever it comes from.

(For the record, though, the first thing I thought of was a Kremlin when I saw it. But I also thought it looked too badass to have come from Donkey Kong.)

Importing of any kind. As I mention in the first post, I only create the models, and have no means or know-how (yet) to import them into Brawl. The importing is also not for my sake, since I don't use Brawl hacks at all, but for the sake of the people who like my creations and want to see them in the game.

Why, is that an offer?

Oh, so that's the case.

It is almost an offer. I'm not able to do model imports as of yet, since I've gotten errors on my 3DSMAX. So unless it has to do with stage building (which is what I focus on, hacking-wise) or texturing, I can't be of much help.

I would offer to make some stages for you, but I don't have that much experience with stage hacking, and I am totally not worthy enough to make a stage out of your epic models. O_O

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: The Flying Krock
Post by: Peardian on September 25, 2013, 10:03:11 PM
Well, when I make stages, I put together everything on my own, so the only help with stages I'd need would be importing and copying over all the animation details I provide. Without model importing or your 3DS Max working (for vertex coloring) I'm afraid you won't be able to do much on that end.

That all said, DSX8 is still working on Bowser's Keep, and has all of the importing taken care of already. I can't say I know how he prefers to work, but I bet he would probably like some assistance in getting the thing animated. If you think you're up to entering a bunch of keyframe numbers, send me a PM and I'll get you details and such.

I got a new computer! It's really snazzy.

So what does this mean for this thread? Probably nothing, but now I can finally run Dolphin and BrawlBox. However, this does not mean I won't need collaborators anymore. I still won't be able to import my creations by myself.

I'm learning how to model... When I finish my first custom one that's NOT classwork, can I have you evaluate it and get your thoughts?

@Velen: There are probably a lot of places my meshes, UVs, and textures could be improved, but I guess what makes my models appealing is what I always strive for accuracy and attention to detail. (For example, I drew out every single one of Kebako's hairs, and made sure they all lined up across UV seams.) Also, studying the source really helps.

@Albafika: Thanks! I'm kinda surprised you haven't seen my stuff before, but I guess I'm not very active. You know, if you're ever looking for something to do, I could always use more collaborators. ;D

Thing is, a combination of talent like yours is a rarity here on KC:MM. Made even more so by the fact you can not only make good custom models, but very good textures too. I'm namely very good at textures, and other people like Nanobuds and GBC are good at models. The only people who match your skill are either no longer active, or are, but sparingly. The only other person I can think of who matches your combination of skills off the top of my head is Starwaffle.

I kind of stopped searching through this section as soon as Beyond and Waffle stopped updating their threads, there was just nobody else to surprise me with awesome custom made models.

And Starwaffle has recently just been collabing with Nano, which of course isn't a bad thing Nano is a boss at rigging, but yah we need more people like Peardian who can make awesome models and textures.

what has that to do with anything?

My point was that Starwaffle is great at making models and textures, like Peardian, and has been collaborating with Nano, like how Peardian has been collabing with others to get his models in Brawl. :P

I'd say Vaanrose qualifies in that awesome level of modeling and texturing. I haven't seen him around lately, but while he was here, he brought an explosion of skill.
Not to mention he rigs and imports everything on his own.

What I like about your stuff though, Peardian, is the presentation. You're patient enough to wait until all the modeling and texturing is completely finished, rig the model into a fitting pose, and present us with a finished, usable model with a fantastic render, lighting, and special effects where applicable. And you have a literal collection of trophies to show for it. I see the occasional WIP from you, but most of the time, just BAM, a well-presented model.

I have to say, It's quite satisfying to reveal a model like that. The main reason I do that, though, is related to my motivation. If I publicly release a preview of a WIP, there's some of the same surprise and joy reactions, though to a much lesser degree. Still, a part of me feels satisfied by it, and I start to lose interest in completing it. This is why if I ever show a WIP, I keep it really low-profile so most people will still be surprised. This is also why I don't post any of my ideas for future projects before working on them. By simply showing an interest in attempting something, I already get reactions that drain away my motivation to complete or even attempt it.

After you do that, could you do Cackletta and her Bat form? I forsee someone making a PSA for one of them, and the two are pretty similar, infact they were so similar I was expecting either for it to be Cackletta using a new name and form, or for them to be related...maybe they were going to be related in an earlier form of the game, similar to how Rosalina was going to be related to Peach in an earlier form of Galaxy.

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: Halloween Treat!

@Segtendo: It's probably not much of a spoiler to say yes, I hope to. I had originally hoped to have his normal form as part of the Halloween image, but due to the time constraint, I instead focused on making the Dark Stone and preparing the render. It could still be weeks before they're both done, however.

@StupidMarioFan1: As I have said before, I do not do requests. Maybe I will some time in the future if I feel like it, but right now I have enough ideas planned to last me over a year.

And that is all I will say right now regarding future plans.

Good news and bad news. The bad news is that Antasma is currently on the backburner. The good news is the reason why: I'm working on animating Bowser's Keep! Yes, waiting on DSX8 was taking too long, so I went and got BrawlBox and tried a hand at animating myself. I'm only doing the animation, though, so I still have to rely on DSX8 for the other parts. Still, this means major progress on the stage for the first time in months, and as long as things go smoothly, the stage may even be done before the end of the month!

so instead, I'm going to finally release this:

Bowser's Keep Stage Animation Plan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dAMU761bjI#)

This is the rough animation plan I am using. Pardon the wall colors, that's for my own use. Please note that we'll only be doing the shiny effect on the floor if there is enough file space left when the rest is done.

Could you possible send these models to Nintendo to use as bases for Smash bros 4? I mean I know you get told this a lot and I've said it before but we just can't get over how amazing your models are because you make them in the style of Brawl while keeping them true to their actual appearances and they fit.

@RAWRzilla: What I'd do is two things: first, I'd get an env with lots of sharp, highly contrasting bits, such as the one used by Dialga's gem, and add in some rainbow sprinkles. Next, I'd make a mask for the shell that is very close to, if not entirely, high-contrast noise. With these things together, you're bound to get lots of little sparkles of light as he moves. If the effect isn't great enough, I'd try increasing the shader strength. All that said, this really isn't the place for something like that, so if you have any further questions about it, please make your own thread to discuss it.

@Gnorcteen: Huh?

@Gnorcteen: Huh?
on half of the 4-player matches I play (and few 3-player matches), it lags to half-frames-per-second. I use my modded brawl to entertain, and my friends loved the design, but just couldn't play on it without quitting mid-match due to match-lengths. I would ask for something to be done, but you guys are busy enough as it is. plus it's likely im the only one on this thread experiencing it.

Ah, that is bad. I suppose we could make a minimalist version that completely gets ride of the left- and right-hand walls, so long as people don't mind the completely jarring end of scenery when rotating the camera around. Of course, that depends on if DSX8 is up to it.

actually, i think heavy lag should always be taken care of, specially in a stage.
havent looked at it yet, but i bet you guys are so perfectionists you even kept models that aren't visible when fighting...

also, another option would be to get rid of some height levels, and just animate it in a way you dont see the lack of walls, like, if you get up a certain height, the lower wall would go up and viceversa when going down...

I guess now I can mention that it lags a lot on Dolphin, with just original Mario & my Dark Bowser which has practically the same detail as Brawl Bowser, so I know it's not them. There's a lot of polygons that are being loaded here, idk maybe swapping the Koopa's multiple bodies into bones that rotate will help? I just know that there's a lot of models and possibly the only way to reduce lag is to reduce the detail of the models, I know reducing textures reduces file size, but I don't remember it messing with lag. I do agree with finding out why it lags because the stage is amazing and lots of people will want to play it without tons of lag with their friends. :-/

I agree. While I want my stage to look the best it can, I know there's no point to it if it is unplayable. I only put in what would be visible from Brawl's normal, unhacked pause camera so that players would not have their immersion disturbed. That said, due to an oversight in the animation process, five floors one floor worth of unnecessary polygons were left in.

cool; however I have taken a liking to the Bowser's Castle stage I downloaded. i'll just get rid of the stormy Delfino Plaza stage. it's not very popular among the community I entertain (even if I do like it). I also have enough Mario stages, coming to a total of 5. i'll have to leave it that way, since I need a Mario kart stage (Twilight House), Peach's Castle (Melee), Bowser's Castle, and 2 others. if the snipped version of Bowser's Keep is a success, then I shall use that over Delfino Plaza, and finally, xxWutzMercyxx has been working on the Mario Galaxy stage replica of the one for the Wii U. if that all works out, it's goodbye Luigi's Mansion revamp.

now if we could just get a custom Crash Bandicoot stage. my mind has been buzzing on an idea for one for quite a while

If you're tired of having to replace stages, this topic might be of interest to you if you haven't seen it.

http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=51912.0 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=51912.0)

It adds another folder which doubles the amount of stages you can have. With the amount of great stages that have been made this is almost necessary to use in my opinion.

although this is cool... like REALLY cool, I currently run cBliss with Brawl Minus. having all of my characters, and the stages and music I currently have, takes up 2/3 to 3/4 of my SD card. I wouldn't have enough room, and I am NOT running Riivolution anytime soon. it requires more to work with when placing certain downloads.

Due to an oversight in my assessment of the oversight in the animation, we'll only be able to trim one floor (~2100 polygons) off of the full version. Still, we'll be able to shave over 10,000 polygons for the minimized version.

the original version had 99154 poly's..
the minimized version (which i just finished), has 86726 poly's... thats a 12.6k poly deletion..

i'll try to see if there's like anything else that could be deleted, but we'll see. at least atm 3p matches dont have to worry about lag much now unless they use high poly mods.

There are less than 100 polygons that would be completely hidden in the skybox model. The rest of it you can see during the course of the battle if the pause camera is rotated by any (normal) amount. The whole skybox has less polygons than a single one of those Terrapin statues. We're looking at the stage right now to see what can be chopped.

The problem isn't so much with the stage... many imports nowadays are so high poly that they lag even in simpler stages if it's a FFA :-\

I approve of both, keeping a complete version for the screenshot and stuffs and a new, more simplified version that allows avoiding the lag.

Either way, great stage, it has caught my eye as one of the best stages in a LONG time

Yeah, but when the stage lags with non-hacked characters like something as simple as Shiek vs. Yoshi, that becomes a problem. Fortunately, we're finding enough extra polygons in the outer regions of the stage that we've been able to reduce the polycount significantly. Just... don't move the pause cam around too much. Or zoom out too much. :P

for any1 who'd like a lagless version of the stage (or less lag), please redownload the pack!! enjoy!

note: we tried to lower the poly's as LOW as we could!

@kadapunny: DSX8 was the one who handled the stage import, not me. Ask him instead.

@Gnorc: The reason I don't have anything to show right now is that I diverted all my attention to getting the stage hack finished. And with the release of the new BrawlBox, I've been busy exporting all stage models to the Models Resource because I can. I've also had a lot of work at... work, so that hasn't helped either. I haven't given up on any of my model plans, but there's no guarantee I will have anything finished by 2014.

You know if you can, what if there was a PSA for mario RPG mario? I could explain some changes...
Things like, Side special would chuck a shell by kicking it, or up special would be similar in terms of movement to ike's aether, since he'd hop up and then down with a crash. What if also Mario's final smash would either be chucking literally a WAVE of shells (or if wii's cannot hold this much memory) he'd go into a SMBZ styled frenzy, but like link's final smash... except he'd just beat them up with fiery hands.

I'm assuming that you mean that if a PSA was made, Peardian would have a reason to make a RPG Mario, since he's have major body differences, a PSA would allow for Mario to be resized.

that's a shame man; not on your limitations as a hacker, but the fact you aren't interested in a collab. your models are the definition of refurbishing. you made models from games that didn't even have them as models: the flying krock (SOMEONE MAKE THIS A STAGE), kebako, the axem rangers, the blade, and SO MANY more! i know someone who put those axem rangers and blade ship to good use in a gmod movie he made. the blade was led by Wart, who commanded the rangers to attack pacman, orson the gray ghost, little mac, parappa the rapper, jersey devil, lucas, and death jr. boy, in a way you helped with that movie.

It'd be cool for his final smash to be something like turning into his true form and moving to the back of the stage, then holding up a bunch of antasmunchies, throwing them after moving around a bit, and causing them to explode like when he does it in the fight with him. Kind of like Snake's final smash...except more rage-inducing. hehehe...

I'm still not done with Antasma yet, but I did want to mention that I made a slight update to the salad-less cat girl, Kebako. Specifically, I forgot to add the stripe on her skirt, so I added that. Oh, and I also added a closed mouth for her so that she doesn't always have the gaping, fanged smile. Oh and also maybe a bonus color set maybe.

That's totally necessary

...for 3D film animation and/or posing. Just not so much for games.

But I salute you, sir, for your ability to rig such things. I assume there are going to be IK handles everywhere.

Also I'm steadily getting back the urge to model/rig/animate/PSA things again now that I'm done with school. I think I may even finally get around to taking on Mack.

Post by: Peardian on March 09, 2014, 12:25:35 AM
I finished all the rigging! Yay! I started on the textured, and already finished the ones for the bat form.

I'm not entirely satisfied with how the nightmare form's cape turned out, but right now it's the best I can make it. The reason it has 200 bones is because of its unique structure, and how it animates in-game. It's made of multiple layers of separate cloth bits that all dangle downwards and move independently, which necessitates numerous bones. Even if I replace the current mesh with a much simpler, single plane mesh, the bone structure would probably stay the same.

That's good to know, won't have to worry about having too many bones when making certain scenes for GoldenMushroom, it'll be the amount of textures and polygons that'll be the problem. :srs:

Ideally, they'd be handled by dynamics/IK, like with other character's capes. Probably not doable with current hacking tools, but it's within Brawl's capabilities.

Of course, the the bare minimum, you could get away with using just 8 bones for the whole cape, provided you only wanted it to dangle directly down and never flow in any kind of realistic manner or turn upside-down.

but I can put your name in Special Thanks sections everytime I using one of your models if you still want to be credit by name ;w;

speaking of models, whats your next project? I see you love doing non-3D existing to Mario RPG games.

@pikazz: If that's how you want to credit people, I'm fine with it. Just don't go making videos and not crediting the people who made the custom models when at least one of them has explicitly asked for it.

I'm lightly working on several projects right now, but haven't really decided which one to focus on yet. I don't want to show any previews of them, because (as you saw with Antasma) it does deal a blow to my inspiration.

Though lately, I've been feeling creative, and yet restrained by those multi-month production times, so I went ahead and made a random quick model for fun:

It's the DK Coin from Donkey Kong Country 2! I picked it because it's simple, distinct, shiny, and hasn't showed up in any 3D DK games. The aimed for a level of detail somewhere between "stage foreground prop" and "Wii game import trophy", so hopefully someone will find use in it.

I also decided to make a more realistic version, based on the style used by Sonic Generations:

With added bevel for the sake of prettiness:

I'm not dead! I've been busy with things. I still don't have my next model done, but just today I rigged it. It's already UV'd, so it should be done soon.

In the meantime, I released an update to Kebako. It probably isn't very useful here, since it fixes flaws in the rigging that get redone in the importing process anyway. It also adds two new eyes and a bunch of new mouth frames intended for better expressiveness and basic lip-syncing, as seen here:

Huh, probably would have to be a stage prob or something....then again it could be used as part of an absurd character import. xD

My latest model is finally complete!

It's the Brycen-Jet from Pokémon Black 2 / White 2. Never heard of it? It's pretty obscure, since it's one of the later movie props in PokéStar Studios. I actually started this shortly after starting on Antasma, working on it sporadically. Maybe that's part of why Antasma took so long...

So, Kirby Fighters Deluxe came out, and I couldn't resist trying to recreate one of its new stages:

This is not one of my usual creations, nor was it even really planned. Because this is mainly a recreation, it is not specifically designed for use in Brawl, so it may require adjustments. I'm posting it here anyway since I figure someone here will want it.

The model is up on The Models Resource already. (http://www.models-resource.com/custom_edited/kirbyseries/model/7944/)

Well shoot, because I kind of already started sizing it and everything.

That said, I also found out that the model in KFD is very likely squashed on the Z-axis. The upper platform allows far more room in the game than it would if it were perfectly cylindrical, like your model is. I'm kinda stuck between going for realism and keeping your model the way it is, or squashing your model to closer mimic how the stage works in KFD. What's your opinion on that, Peardian?
Also, one-star CPUs in KFD are dumb, because I just sit on the upper platform in Butter Building and the CPU Sword Kirby has not been able to touch me since.

You know, that's something I didn't actually look into. When the camera moves, it shows the tower  is definitely round to some amount. I have a feeling you might need to squish it by about half and tightly manage the camera (a la Flat Zone) in order to help maintain the illusion of depth. The camera's viewing angle will be important. My suggestion would be to try and match the game's camera view as close as possible.

I think Peardian just makes them for the sake of making them. They could probably be made into a silly stage, though.

Yah Peardian doesn't have much experience with getting his models into Brawl, he just makes them because he's awesome like that, and for people to use them as they like.
Anyways SuperStar Saga is my favorite of the series, so many unique features were removed in the later games like swapping the order of the bros which was esciental for most of those blocks there. I guess these models could be used in animations and fan games but yah not much we can do with them in Brawl besides stage work. The Super Carrot however could be used in a Mario moveset, be placed over Fludd like Mariodk did in his SMBZ Mario v3 and v3.5 movesets.

I'm not dead! Really! I've just been very busy with real life stuff. I have a big model still in the works, but I've put it off to work on a new model I started recently, and I'm currently texturing it. Still, I have two things to show.

First, remember the last time I made some mock Subspace Emissary screenshots (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=55080.msg1135198#msg1135198)? Well, I made some more. This time, it's all one scene.

If only...

Now, the second thing I wanted to show is this little clip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDnIDyoEo2E

I recreated the logo of PokeStar Studios in a sort of Hollywood style. My question is: does anybody actually want it? I'll post the model if there's any interest in it, but otherwise I might not bother. It has several distinct shapes in it, so I figure maybe someone will want to make a stage out of it or something.

Anyone interested?

I worked on setting up the whole sequence sporadically over the course of a few months, but I couldn't tell you how long I actually spent on it. The finished-up renders, however, were all done in a single day. (I wanted to have them ready for April 1st.)

Actually, that's not Jigglypuff or a real Poke Ball. That's Jigglypuff's trainer, and she wears headphones that look like Poke Balls and a sun hat (take from Jigglypuff's blue costume) over her pink hair. You can get a better view of her in the bonus pic. Who could this mysterious trainer be...?

What do you think needs to be updated about it? I'm curious.

Sorry, I don't take requests, and I have already said several times before why I do not plan on making Geno. Also, it appears I forgot to put a "no requests" message in the main post, so I have rectified this mistake.

I'm almost done with my next big model! Well, technically the model itself is done, but I want to finish the recolors for it first before I reveal it.

In the meantime, I've uploaded most of my models to Sketchfab (https://sketchfab.com/Peardian/models)! It's a neat little site that lets you view models in 3D right in your browser, including some really fancy ones. If you've ever wanted to explore the deck of the Blade (https://sketchfab.com/models/88862af5a49a4bcdb68f4eacca2e16ec) or the interior of the Flying Krock (https://sketchfab.com/models/7c37a8ab66434ce886580e4096b31c41), now is your chance!

My next model is done!

I want to finish a recolor first before I make the model available for download, so look forward to it sometime in the next few days.

Introducing...

Heavy Mole DX!

It's based on the upgraded bosses in Kirby Triple Deluxe. As you can see, it's more than just a mere recolor.

Now that I've revealed this, I can finally upload it to The Models Resource.

Edit: The model is now up!

I have been playing lots of Super Mario Maker lately, but I managed to fit in some time to make a new model.

I just have three words to say about it first:

"sorry, not sorry"

Metal-head DK

Origin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9-g7zRpayw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9-g7zRpayw)

Unlike my usual stuff, this one is made specifically for the sake of being a Brawl hack, built over the character's skeleton. I'm going to put it up for download on TMR soon, but first...

anyone want to claim importing it?

The model is now up on TMR! (http://www.models-resource.com/custom_edited/donkeykongseries/model/11291/)

Just as a note for anyone who would consider importing it, it's not 100% Brawl-ready out of the box. I wasn't sure how to do the eyelids, so I didn't try creating UVs for them and simply included the eyelid textures. Also, the DAE probably won't import straight into BrawlBox.

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: DK? Is that you?
Post by: StupidMarioFan1 on October 01, 2015, 05:46:07 PM
Because DK's eyelids aren't modeled, they're just part of his eye materials, the eyelid & eye models would have to be deleted and use DK's eyes, though because his aren't modeled completely (why bother leaving the backside if you should never be able to see it), you'd have to edit the eyes to have more to them without messing with the UV so the materials can be used to have the eyelid and eye movement.

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: DK? Is that you?
Post by: Peardian on October 02, 2015, 05:08:32 PM
I know how the eyes work, and the inclusion of modeled eyelids is intentional. I figured it was better to have double-eyelids than making him wide-eyed all the time.

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: Crocodile Isle
Post by: Peardian on January 01, 2016, 08:49:14 PM
The level of detail isn't quite high enough for fighters to be directly on it, but it could work as a backdrop.

Also, the whole thing is only 11,900 polygons.

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: Crocodile Isle
Post by: StupidMarioFan1 on January 01, 2016, 09:34:40 PM
Maybe be like that one level in SSE where where DK, Diddy, Captain Falcon and Olimar are fighting Primads on that ship that's flying towards the floating island, have some ship circling the island, maybe get closer/farther away at some points? It looks amazing, though I don't think you need us to tell you that...then again maybe you do. A lot of artists need second opinions as the main artist can get too caught up on little details.

Title: Re: Peardian's custom models (Collaborators wanted!) - Newest: Crocodile Isle
Post by: Bad Box Art Mega Man on January 01, 2016, 11:33:50 PM
my thoughts exactly.
maybe shrink the flying krock, lower the texture resolution, do the same with crocodile isle (the texture thing, that is), use that as a backdrop, use the flying krock as the stage platform, then have it fly around crocodile isle. maybe add some smoke from Crocodile Cauldron, and have the sign from Krazy Kremland flickering? and of course, still the water so that animations wont increase file size as much. finally, remove DK Island, or at least make it a texture.

DK Island uses a very small number of polygons to help it conform to the sea level, but otherwise it is a giant sprite. Of course, the model is available to download, so you could check it out yourself.

Time for another Super Mario RPG model!

This one is an edit of Spaak, that cloud enemy from SSE. I left all of the bones intact, so it should be trivial to import it in case anyone feels like doing so.

Personally, I think Mokura would be much more suited for an Assist Trophy role, creating a large area of poisonous gas.

@Kage Ryu: Thank you!

Anyone tired of random SMRPG characters yet? No? Well, here's another one.

I've heard some people say that they used to interpret the sprite for this enemy as the winged shells holding up the octopus. Maybe it's because of how the lines never bend, or how the shells seem to go higher/lower, but I've always interpreted the whitish lines as being metal poles. It certainly makes for a more interesting enemy.

Looks pretty sweet. I am now interpreting those poles as antennae so that the octopus gets proper reception for its built-in radio.

Thanks! After posting it, I've heard some people say that they interpreted the enemy's sprite as it holding onto strings attached to the beetles. Looking back at it, I can totally see that, but I think the staff design makes it more interesting.

The high-poly versions aren't really suitable for a stage prop, so I also made a low-poly version to go with it. For those of you who like to analyze details, I made both designs of the coin from both the in-game sprite and the official artwork.

Delfino Plaza Repainted! (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=216356)

I got the textures from the Super Mario Sunshine Repainted (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-jdP0ymYKY) texture pack and reworked them to fit Brawl. This meant editing textures and rendering some stuff to match how Brawl did the same for Brawl's textures. Just by looking at it, you wouldn't realize how much extra effort it took to keep the same appearance.
