Welcome, in this thread, we'll create, post and compile recolors of the characters in Project M, to fit the mod's theme, hues and layout; the dark purple/blue you can see in menus and artwork.
This could work for those that use cBliss as well, which allows a lot of texture slots.
The recolors will focus on using dark purples and blues, dark brown, cyan, very light yellow, as well as gray and some black and white details; including the use of adding the Project M logo if possible or viable without making it to look forced in some way.
You can join if you like, just show a recolor that fits well with the theme (mentioned above) and receive feedback to know if there's something that can be adjusted.

ANNOTATIONS
Needs Work: means that the character hasn't been taken yet
Needs Update: means that the character requires to be reworked and present a new product
To be updated: means that the character is going through a revamp, then to be revised
TO BE RELEASED: means that the character has been aproved but there's no actual public download

So, someone else finally started a "color" theme project?

I'll keep an eye on this and primarily give feed-back. If I feel like it, I might do an Ike for this, but don't plan on that happening.

But, it would cooler with a sheath with more blue-ish color... and maybe you can add a more dark blue to the Master Sword's edge...

you seem to be catching the tune :D, the colors are well picked, it'd need a little desaturation and some "unique/original" details, such as patterns, stripes or the logo
gradients would work, but don't think in relying to much on them
   when i'm free, i'll post a Mirage Falcon

Is it possible to post some custom characters with recolors? By the way, I've made a Toon Link with another theme, but who also suits your theme... I just have to modify the sword/sheath/shield and the hat, then I'll post a preview here.

stuff like Anime/Manga, out-of-smash characters, Obscure game characters/OCs
will not

Priority characters, are the ones currently released.
One cool thing that might come good as well is to make a Mirage Final Destination
or even the 64 character models

hi there SpiderMad, your Diddy has quite good color choices, but the textures look kinda messy to me, and the legs too, another thing, it would look cool with another tone of fur, like a little more gray-ish, or desaturated purple/blue

bbQ, maybe making the logo bigger, making it a bit transparent, and changing the cape to a similar shade of purple would work out well.

Alright so I followed your suggestions, here is what I came up with:

I like the Marth that purple really does alot more to the texture. The cape logo looks a little too transparent. But dman man I cant wait to get my hands on that hack. 

Im gonna work Snake a little bit more to fixed up the brightness a bit.
I think I'll drop the logo some where  on like his gun holster+ or something. Though, if it looks too weird I may drop the logo idea completely.

If you guys approve of these I'll be glad to toss 'em all into a .zip package and also make SJS styled CSP's for them and put it up on the vault.   :laugh:

Loving the Falcos. Great job! Im so getting these. I cant choose which one. Maybe making his holster more visible by making it purple or blue. And a blue scarf I think will put it all together.
I really think this is all I need I really cant wait to play this, this came out so much better than I expected.

I actually thought about doing that, but I felt like it would be too much unnecessary color and I kept the scarf white because the main post said the colors were white, blue, purple and black. And my Falco was lacking white so I added the white scarf, anyways I'll start making the CSP's and whatnot, you can feel free to change the texture as much as you want after downloading it though.
I'd also like to thank you for the feedback and compliments, you we're the only one who helped me make it better lol

Loving the Marth! Although, like Kramerdorf said, you might want to cut back a little bit with the logo transparency.

I just want to say, I am loving this thread. :3 Purple (kick ass dark aura not teehee bunnies and flowers purple) is like on of my favorite colors. ^_^

Just a suggestion. Since Maritime already covers the blue team slot, I think it would be great if this project focused more on the purple aspect so that people are more likely to use both. As is, most of these seem to be very blue-centric.

Why not just take the singular M from the Project M logo and make it mirror out to complete iself like the original green band? If that's possible

Speaking of which can someone post the Project M logo where it is just the "M". I dont have Just the "M" and I would really like if I could get my hands on it. I assume it exists.

I'm not sure it does, I searched every Project M file in BrawlBox before and it wasn't even in the game files and I've yet to see it anywhere else.

Well I should of assumed. If i couldn't find on on google then there was a good chance that it has not been done.

The plain M would be useful, I'm going to try Ike and any mirrored stuff on it would need just the M.

Pika's yellow and red should be toned down a little to clash with Brawl's art style better.

I've finished one variant of mirage fox.

I will upload some pics soon.
Until then, I will continue to work on other variations of the mirage color

Wow. I didn't even know this was going on. I think minty began well over a year ago. Funny how these projects spawned so much good work. I've pretty much retired from the scene entirely, so I won't be contributing to this one. I have no idea what's going on with the other big 3, apples and Shun_One. I hope those two are stellar. I had a blast working on two of the big projects. Mad props to everyone involved.

I like the bowsers and sheik. One minor suggestion: could you guys recolor their eyes to fit better?
The look a little out of place imo. no offense though.

@NoFun you should try Sheik with a purple cap rather than black. Since the black Sheik already has a black cap it would be better to have a different color of headware.

I'll post Mario after I finish editing him one more time. Im kinda getting stuck on were to go with the overall color layout and may need some assistance. Also I'll fix up the "M" logo whenI can.

Remember that you can use patterns, such as grids or something like PM's official page background, oh, and logos

I think it is good, I especially love the headband.
If I were to make some suggestions, it's a bit too light purple for my taste.  The coat might look cooler if it was tad darker purple. The pants were black. The shirt was white.

The M could go on his back, his tie, or his gloves.

Pretty good although you should probably give it more of a PM feel. Perhaps a grid designed pants or shirt. Maybe even a black shirt with blue stripes.

ShadowLuigi, I think that the dark blue eyes would work well.
The orange eyes would still be an interesting alternate, though.


For Lucas, I suggest darkening the purple stripes, switching the white stripes to black, and making the pants have a grid-like design. Perhaps black hair, and brighter blue eyes would add a finishing touch to him.

No I'm not a member of this project... I was actually doing a purple skin for Lucas for a completely unrelated project but figured I could help both projects by making a Mirage Lucas skin.

Anyways, this is probably the final version I'm doing of Lucas. I think it looks pretty good and seems to fit the Mirage style well. Hope you all like it:

How does one go about making CSP's?

I'm not sure if this question was open to everyone or not, but I'll tell you my method if you're interested. I'm no SJS, but my CSPs aren't half bad I believe. Check out my hacks to see if they are good quality as I've never asked anyone before Lol.

open question is open. as long as I get an answer I don't care who it is. it'll help me make my mods more awesome.

Ok I think of having a thread like this is cool. Feel like it should of been more serious and the one running this tread should really have updates... o.O)? I might be wrong.. just something for sure I would of done if I were running this.

First, I start off with BrawlBox (latest version) and set up my character in any position that I feel that would suit their personality or create a custom pose. Make all of the bones invisible (everything on screen in the model viewer will be caught in the picture), deselect final smash eyes and any extra polygons. The go to the top drop down menu and go to "Options > Take Screenshot > With Transparent Background". For characters like Mario and Luigi who have a transparent cap shadow, it's best to select "With Background" then erase the background with maybe something like Gamemaker. Now to resizing it. I open it up in GIMP 2.0 and highlight the entire picture "Cut" it,  Scale the invisible checkered background to "128x160" then "Paste" the picture. If done correctly the picture is a bit smaller but still not enough to fit the visible frame. The character should be outlined so right-click it and choose scale. Try to keep the main picture in the center of the "128x160" frame as in brawl the Characters name will block the lower-lower part and "Press start" will cover around 10% of the top. You may want to go to "Filter > Sharpen" to clear the picture as it gets blurrier the small it has been scaled. Play around with some of the filters to get a feel for customizing the dull picture and viola. You're done!

Technically, I've already taken Doc, but you're welcome to work on your own version. I plan to upload my revised version (implementing  Generally Epic's pointers) as soon as I can.

Speaking of CSP's, I might just do some for the characters we have so far. Won't be released for a while though. I don't know about you guys, but since I use SJS's Project M common5.pac I prefer his CSP's since they'll blend better, so I'll most likely do that style.

Sure thing, the only thing is that the dress isn't the exact same blue as the shoulders' but, I kinda like it, also at the beginning I was looking at the others' textures, and they had the logo in the back or something, and since Peach's dress uses mirror textures, I said Why not? but if it looks better at the front, then to the front it goes! :3
For the next changes I'll take an in-game picture of Peach for it to be more accurate, thanks for the feedback Rage!

A few suggestions. Add the "M" on the front somewhere, mix the hue of both blue and purple for the lower part of the dress, and lastly perhaps you can add white to the palms of her gloves.

I dont hate this... Obvious fixes are obvious. I would make his fur a tint blue...or maybe a faded dark violet color? The PM logo is sweet, very clever, I like it. Maybe make the logo a bit fatter and the letter closers together? give it that DK look?

I actually like is as is. The purple look very nice on her. I would suggest retexturing all of the embedded designs so she does note look so bland...oh you could make those embedded areas dark blue and make it pop it would also give her a more "Mirage" feel.

I love it so much

One tip, avoid cell shading. Try to keep as much detail as possible. Become acquainted with tools like Hue/Saturation, Black and White, Curves, Levels, etc. Don't be afraid to experiment and take your time as well to get the best result, there's no deadline. That being said, if you can, try and fix the bottom half of that dress to keep the detail.  :D

Yo! I'm new to Project Mirage and this thread basically and I was wondering if the OP can edit all the user submitted recolors to the first post? Would make finding the textures a lot simpler IMO as opposed to manually checking each post or going through each character slot on the Vault.

ShadowLuigi, the gloves work for me. You might want to saturate the fur just a bit, but DK's coming along nicely!

So I saturated both the Skin and fur so he would not appear to be too pale and tried to straighten out the finger tip gloves. I had to change his tie to purple as it began to blend in with the brighter fur.

It seems that we've completed majority of the PM cast. All that is left is Wario(both costumes), Warioman, Giga Bowser, GW, Ganon and D3.

I've begun working on mirage squirtle. It should be done soon, but I'm taking my time to make it as best as possible.

I'm liking the new textures, I do wish that people would use a little more blue, add white details and the PM grid. Look at my Toon Link for example.

Well I fixed the download link (the internet was a troll yesterday). As for the palette, I will make a second version of the stage with a darker base. Then upload it either as an alt, or a choice within the download.

This is as dark as I can texture it, any darker, the stage looses its texture making it look like plastic. It still needs some white lines in the base area, and some blue details here and there, and I'm not sure if I could change the color of the pm logo though, what you guys think?

I tried adding  this shade of violet in the other areas of the stage, but it glitches thanks to the unique lightning of said stage. When I changed said lightning of the stage, even slightly, some textures turned black while others turned white. Leaving the light alone, but recolor the textures does nothing, the colors will be a faded look of blue or black. I experimented alot, but I never sorted out the problem, instead I was greeted with a horrid scene or the lovely buzzing sound.

take the headband, tie, (maybe shoes) and pants from AndIQuote's  doctor mario and put it on RedGamer's undershirt, coat, and gloves (maybe keep the shoes) and that would be a sexy doctor. :3

A lot of it is just copy and pasting. My friend did it on a few textures out there. Like we took white vibrant kongs texture and put super kongs tie on it.

The Mirage Destination is almost complete, only the base area is left for some project m texturing.

So technically, I'll make two versions again, Light and Dark. And just in case, I used one of Mew2k's Melee final destinations as base. (I really like calm and relaxed backgrounds)

Edit: It seems I cannot change the base of the base of the stage (nope there is no typo there), since the colors will always be a shade of grey, the color black causes the animations to look weird and the designs to look textureless. What I haven't tried however is to change the texture pattern, perhaps a grid pattern is in order. I'll have the two stages ready by tonight... I think.

Hmm, Looking good so far. I love the grid idea you came up with.

I went through alot of trial and error for Mirage Squirtle since this is the first time I've ever textured his model, but it's been going better than I thought it would. Before I upload it I'd like yalls opinion and or suggestions though. So here is Mirage Squirtel:

doesnt really fit the theme.

Even if haven't created any character myself to know how this works y saw many examples of what mirage is... (I realized that is not pink, its purple). What I recommend is that you may wanna try darken that white color a lot, try some dark violet or blue violet mix, making the eyes yellow or blue to balance it out, as we know turtles compositions, paint the lower shell somewhat blue so it can rhyme with Squirtle dark violet skin and if its possible, use a project m design found in the OP for its shell (how about the grid texture found in the strap menu?).

Another thing you can do is to use the mirage Bowser palette to get an idea of what mirage recolor is, it may work for Squirtle since, well, turtles.

See how white is used mainly for details but not for the full body?

I like the idea so far, its pretty fresh. Good luck!

Yes, I was thinking I should definately darken it and this isn't official it's just what I've done so far. I tried to go for violet, but I guess it turned out more pinkish. I'll work on it. I'll figure out how to incorprate the Project M logo onto it as well. I'm still kinda new to this, but I'll try my best guys.

Been lurking this thread for a while ever since Mars/Minty/Maritime was finished, and I appreciate you guys for picking up where we left off and continuing what me, Shun, Devicer, Apples, and others started... but as a fellow texture hacker, a lot of the stuff here is very hit/miss for me. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I think colors and color placements should be chosen a bit more carefully, especially on certain characters like Bowser, the Pokemon, and Sonic, who have very few options. I like the directions that the people who made Snake, Pit, and Zelda took. The colors and placements they chose were very spot on. Those 3 look really nice and almost natural, as if they belong in the actual game. Others, well... not so much.

Again, just offering some constructive criticism to help you guys. I love me some good recolors, and were it not for me being so busy with my job, I'd definitely lend you guys a helping hand.

I see, your comment is much appreciated and I'll be weary of that from now on. I was always a bit ffy on my DK and Bowser. I plan to revamp Bowser and Ness. I can see what you mean. Faithful and official.

I was wondering why no one had posted a color guide which make the recolors alot easier.
Most of these textures are good textures. They're just not good for PM I even feel my Mario is a tad shy. :/
I will say that Squirtle and Fox are lacking these key components. As I tend to be an optimist with this project and the others as well, I feel progress is the key to making these better through trial and error and such.

I have noticed that feedback has been completely disregarded these last few pages. Not by all but by some.

Most people should keep in mind these are Recolors not Retexutres. Now, essentially they would mean the same thing but in this case it should go as follows;

A Recolor is recoloring of the characters ORIGINAL texture. Not addition of any outside images,words etc. (Though the putting the "PM" is part of the theme its not a have-to and some characters dont really need it in some cases. Other characters have special conditions such as Snake and Ness or any other character with an Accessory(Pika or Jiggs)

A Retexture is a complete replacement or heavily altering the models natural texture.
(I.E: Putting logos, patterns, words, etc  on the texture.)
A good example of a Retexture is the Diddy Kong and the Foxes and the aforementioned Squirtle.

This is how I see it should work for Project Mirage.
I think the OP should be revised a bit. Put some Do's and Donts
We should keep in mind we're going for Recolors not Retextures.
And as I said, I really want this project to be as prestiges as is predecessors.

You've got every point except for color concept. Recently, including myself, there have been uploads focusing a lot more on a deep purple concept rather than blue. It's true that we are doing Recolors so it is fitting that the characters should have a set set color to use. For example, NoFun's Bowser has the perfect colors for PM as does Zelda and Snake. A grid design is not necessary  but it does fit for quite a few characters somewhere on the Brawl Roster. There should be a perfect balance color. It's not all that hard. It's prett much the best thing, as you stated, through trial and error to find what fits best with who.

Also wanted to point out, things like grids and patterns make sense on some characters like Snake, who would otherwise be stuck with spots, stripes, or nothing. For the UTCP, Apples gave him Minty honeycomb hexagons, I gave him Maritime bubbles, and Kramerdorf gave him Mars squares. There's nothing wrong with going the extra mile and adding things like logos and patterns, like a Project M shirt for Ness or Project M on C. Falcon's back, but there is a limit before it starts to look unnecessary.

I have to agree with Xenozoa, a lot of hit-or-miss ones in here.

I think the main thing I don't like is, by slapping the Project M logo on things, you're going against the character's design. I don't mean to offend anyone, but there are a few textures here that I think would be great if it wasn't for the Project M logo forcefully added on. You wouldn't ever see the SSB logo on a character if it was official, so I don't think the P:M logo works for the same reason.

Another thing is, I think that more studying of the original textures is needed for a lot of these. For example, Mirage Mario, how his gloves were quite dark. Brawl's Mario never has his gloves any colour other than white, so by making them dark, it's a bit too different to be...Mario. Little things like that can make a recolour more "believable" if that makes sense.

This is true I also feel that I should make his hat matches his shirt rather than overalls. Since only the darkbrown/white Mario has his hat match his overalls. The reason I considered the gloves being a different color was due to Luigi's Fire color in Melee. Trying to go for something a bit more unconventional like that. But in the end I never got any feedback when I posted it. But it whatev, I didnt really like it, deep in my gut I thought it was wierd but I thought maybe others would like it. since thats not the case, I have more of a inclination to rework it.


I've been thinking of revamping him for a some time I never gotten around to it.
I think we should restart this project. Or at least have the OP fixed but I think the person who created this thread will MIA for a time. :/

I've already started to revamp my Bowser, the grid on the shell is there but not very distracting nor does it cancel out the original design. The main problem is mostly the fact that I focused too much on purple and the hair is a bit dark. In any case, I'll leave DK as he is until I hear some complaints about him. For the most part, my characters have stayed true to minimal Retexturing and trying to mach the original concepts of the characters.

I'll continue to bang around alternate P:Mario concepts in my head.

I might re-do my Luigi and Toon Link based on the feedback on the thread, the only real reason why I did so much to the original textures is because recoloring characters is sometimes way too simple for me to do. So I said "hey, if we're slapping the PM logo on these I might as well challenge myself a bit to add some designs to this."

Here's Bowser with a few subtle changes. I'll add larger changes depending on the feedback.





I think Toon Link is great but the cap could be left as one solid color.

hmm... I believe I shall wait with my stages until the official color palette is posted here, I find it difficult to decor a stage without knowing the correct coloring. Besides, Characters here are on a higher priority than stages, so I'll wait until there is some progress.

I understood what Xenozoa425 said, I believe I might start recoloring my first character ever. Charizard. I saw and played as Maritime, Minty and Mars Charizard to get the main idea. I don't know how character recolor works, but if the same principle of making stages, I got it covered. And since they mentioned that Zelda was spot on, I will use her as my guide through coloring until the pallet is posted.

As for Bowser, I think that the grid pattern would work well in a grayish color on his spike chains.
(the spikey things on his neck and arms)

I'll try to pop in every now and then to give feedback then, since it seems some people didn't get any.

I'm not sure if I like the grid, it seems like it's so faint it wouldn't make a difference if it wasn't there. I'd say see how it looks without it? I'm also not really a fan of the black tips on the spikes on his shell, they look unfitting to me.

As for the colours themselves, I think the purple could be slightly brighter, as it feels like the whole thing is a bit too dark currently. The white edges on his shell might look better a bit brighter, same thing with the bottom of his shell. The arm ring things I think should be a different colour (white would work) to contrast with his skin, as they blend in a bit too much currently.
I'm basing all this off looking at Bowser's vBrawl 05 costume, since it's got a similar skin tone. Don't be afraid to mess around with adding blues as well!

Bowser definitely needs his shell to be the primary color, since it's his most distinguishing feature and is on screen throughout the entire match, and it could definitely use some saturation and brightening up. I know that BrawlBox makes it look darker than it really is, so be generous and don't go overboard making it too bright. I also think the black tipped spikes are a bit too much.

I've always been picky on skin color, especially on the face since it looks really weird if it isn't done right, but I would try to go for a medium/medium-dark grey. His hair is also really hard to choose imo, but I think a yellow/orange would go nicer than black or white. And like Taiko said, the arm bands should probably be different color so it can contrast the skin better.

 I don't feel like contrubiting because once I start... feel like ill be needing to do the whole entire cast. -_-
But what happened to nofun? He was doing a really good job actually.

I think the original FD is better for project mirage. and change the background.


I only retextured the first purple and black fox.
the white and purple came from the white and blue foxes' fusion.
the purple and white came from the same fusion reversed.
(kind of like the difference between vegito and gogeta)

Thanks for the feedback! I personally believed that I wasn't gonna receive any, I'll delete this mirage tomorrow, since I personally was not satisfied at all with the results... and I'm quite embarrassed of myself of making this abomination. (yes, this is my least favorite hack) and now that it was pointed out that I do not need to plaster the pm textures on the stage, this will be less limited.

However, I received permission to recolor one of Xenozoa425's final destinations into a dark purple. I believe a dark purple sky mixed with the original FD colors and patterns is good enough, and unlike before, I'm going to devote time on this stage, extracting the Zelda colors as base and, for the first time, I'll use Photoshop. I really would like  bit more feedback next time :\

I would personally add a bit of yellow into Sheik so that she doesn't get overpowered with white, black and purple. For ZSS, the first one looks really good, but the cyan for the symbols on her hand, breast, and back kinda throws it off imo.. unless you're trying to go for a pseudo-Gravity Suit vibe, in which case it'll work. Again, I'd go with yellow or maybe orange, but that's just me and is entirely up to you.

Hello. Pardon the intrusion. I'm quietly watching this thread as the whole Mirage theme is working its way into the vault, and I like what's going on here.

I love that dress. The patterns show up beautifully.

But from the waist up, the contrasting colors look really gaudy. The white could probably work if it wasn't right next to black so much. Perhaps the black on the blouse and the gloves could be a lighter grey or purple? I'm not quite sure what will work, but the harsh black/white contrast above the beautifully blended dress doesn't seem to work well together, in my opinion.

Also perhaps have that central jewel on her crown stand out more with a lighter color. It kinda just fades into the metal there and doesn't catch the eye like jewelry, well, should.

I'm rather indifferent on the hair, though if you made the hair black, you could work lighter colors into the bust while having something to tie in the the black of the dress's hip fabric.


It's almost there, though. Keep it up.

I appreciate feedback, I'll give it a try for alternative textures, one with normal blonde hair and more purple on her dress with full gray gloves and colorful jewels on her crown, and one with black hair more blue on her dress 'n stuff and the black gloves with white palms, someone said something about it, and I thought it was an amazing idea, also the one with gray gloves will have fingerless gloves, just for the lulz

I think gray gloves with white palms would be fine, but the direct black/white just doesn't mesh well as it is now. That's my opinion, though. Have fun. (:

I really have no love for the Melee models. Well except for Fox, Bowser and Ganon
I may get around to a Melee Ganon Mirage color. Actually...non of the M projects are favored to Melee Ganon...only Minty and that uses the yucky out of date vertex. :/
Looking at some refs for color ideas. I've decided to go with white gloves.
I think I may swap the shirt. Sadly, the laptop im on does not have BBox so i'll have to do it later.

On a small side note any one love how All of MvC3 recolors are all awesome references?

I'd say you're on the right track with this one, but yes, probably more dark, and maybe a shirt more to purple, away from blue. Maybe a darker brownish/more blueish colour would work for the shoes? For the undershirt, maybe either a white shirt / blue tie, or a white tie and some other colour for the shirt. Just throwing ideas out there, don't feel like you need to use them all.

I guess you can figure I used your Dr. Mario as a base and hm, I'll try to mix up some different tones to match. I wasn't to keen on the red tie. Perhaps changing the shirt too.

Decided to to try my hand at Melee Ganon. I made one more purple dominate and another more blue dominate. Im leaning towards blue but I think I could use some parts from the purple and make it a tad better.

You missed the inner arm texture though, it's still white! (Arms2). The shoes might be better slightly darker, though they look good as they are now. And finally, maybe make the tie the same colour as the shoes? If they're different enough, I think it'll work well. The shirt can stay as white though.

I purposely left the second part white to add a sort of different color. I wanted the shoes to be light as they would resemble AndIQuotes's Dr. Mario if they were darker.

Got a CSP update for you guys. These are the ones I've done so far because these are the only textures I believe are 100% done. I'll add these to the textures on the vault and continue the rest soon. Enjoy guys.

Hello Vaultmen, I'd like to try my hand at this. And i was wondering if there was a list of characters no one has yet to claim. Also, i wanted to know how everyone would feel if i did a alternate take on a character already done.

Well, we've got Dr. Mario covered, that's for sure. But I bet you could do another take on another character if you so desired. That's not my call, though.

Well I took long because I got used to Photoshop but when I lost all my files I had to use Gimp to do this kind of stuff, however, now I only need to get her gloves to look right, the jewels and make the design/pattern on her chest look pink like in the rest of her dress, I'm sorry for taking this much, for a simple texture, but I hope my Peach fits the project Mirage!

Also, any tips or advice on where should I put the M logo ?

Not sure if people are still using the M anymore. Honestly, if you need to ask were to put it then it is not worth using.
Just try to finalize the overall texture, which is coming looking great. However, I would change her top to match her skirt. I do like the white in the middle. Very well done.

I'll finish the details right away, I just edited the crown and added her original hair color just because I felt I needed and alternate version, I'm gonna finish this and upload another pic, in-game to check her out in a better way, so, I'll post my work in a few minutes :D

I did the final changes already, I feel she looks fine now, all I need to know is what you guys and gals think about her, I hope I don't have to fix anything else, but I really feel she's ready to go!
I'll take a few pictures tomorrow and, I'll upload her tomorrow as well, I'm awesomely tired, fixing dem gloves was a pain in my back, and hopefully Peach will join Project Mirage tomorrow :D

I don't see a GW or DDD yet so i might do one of them.

She looks fine to me right now. I like her as is.

Dropping by to say this looks much better than your older one. It looks much less forced, and fits his character much better.

And Peach is looking much better than she did before, though the blacks seem a bit too...different to me. If it isn't too much trouble, how would it look like with the lighter purple where the blacks are?

He'd look better with his regular beak. And he needs a cooler waistline texture (idk even try making the grid bigger and more apparent, because right now from far away the grid isn't visible)

Pretty cool, I have always loved Melee Ganon's voice, model and overall gameplay. He was much better than Brawl's version by far.

Looks better, maybe you could add some white to the belly pattern.

This is better than the first attempt.

- Tone down the white. The way it is now is too bright, and kind of hard on the eyes after a while. It takes some getting used to, but give it a shot.

- I was going to say this before, but I was too late. You may actually want to shift the color of Dedede's skin to a more purple side so it doesn't stand out as much.

- Lastly, I see you removed your grid pattern from his girdle(?). You can try to use it if you like, the trick is to make the grid itself stand out without clashing with the rest of him.

you can, as long as you don't mess with collisions, or prioritary stage animations, like moving platform patterns
and you can make recolors for imports like Melee Ganondorf (and other Melee imports) Shun_One's Awakaning Marth, Other M Zero Suit Samus you name it, what i don't allow are Dragon Ball, Naruto, Final Fantasy, Sonic OCs and stuff like that, or you casn post the model you want to recolor and i'll see if it fits well, you can ask

I tried Shun_One's suggestions and I think it's alright. But, somethings missing (and i don't just mean the logos) Would anyone else say it's going the right direction?

Almost missed this. I assume you want to roll with this design, so here are some tips to help you balance it out and have it look nice.

- Desaturate the jacket sleeves by about 40 points so they look like his jacket is flipped. You have it done in the second picture, however, so match that if you haven't already.

- Brighten up the dark so it's more 80% gray rather than pitch black. This should return the detail to the armor plates and improve the over-all look.

- Darken the white so it's more 40% gray so it isn't so bright on certain stages. Brawl handles white colors oddly, so it's typically safer to go with a darker color than what looks right on your monitor.

- On his shirt, the small v-like portion just underneath his scarf would look nice if it was the same dark-gray as the armor plates, IMO.

- You may want to make the visor violet as well. It looks a tad out of place blue.

- A potential design swap, is to make the boots and gloves black (80% gray), while making the armor plates violet. You can make the boots trim along the bottom violet as well if you go with this type of design.

I think your current design has merit, but hopefully these tips give you a few ideas.


You are headed in the right direction. The patterned coat is an interesting idea. Here's a few more suggestions:

- Consider making the shoes the same color as his coat fur.

- You may want to tone down the brightness of his kimono's white trim. It's a bit hard on the eyes at the moment. Adjusting it by about 20-40 points should do.

- Don't forget to apply the skin color swap to his blink textures. I'm sure you're aware of this though.

- What you deem "missing" is the pattern on his stomach is too simple and makes the entire design uninteresting to look at. Consider copying over-vBrawl-Purple Dedede's girdle pattern, but swapping the gold lines to white.

I don't think anyone's character designs will be COMPLETELY different but if they are, they can always be tweaked.

On the flip-side, if Mario and Luigi's designs are too similar, it becomes difficult to tell them apart.

Not to mention Luigi's Waliugi color makes this really hard to achieve. My First Mirage Mario was a result of trying to avoid a Waluigi Mario. But it depends on the "twin" characters.

Anyway.
I like how DDD is coming along. I would make the eyelids match the fur(unless you already figured you'd fix that)
The robe design. I would suggest a zigzag pattern in dark blue and white.

I think the purple is way too intensely bright in the background. It'd look a lot better if it was toned down in brightness and saturation a bit.

And since I think I'm gonna go back and redo my MP2 Samus recolors and make small adjustments to more accurately depict the official colors, I might as well put dibs on Mirage Samus (and I guess ZSS too, if NoFun hasn't released his version yet). So put me down for her and I'll have previews up soon.

You are absolutely right... lets see then, the thing that makes the background insanely bright is that star in the middle, I'll try removing it and see.

I dunno if I should switch the color of her arm canon with her lower chest and inner thighs. Gave the preview a bit of brightness, contrast, and sharpness so that it looks closer to what it'll look like in-game. Thoughts before I make a few fixes and then release?

Many thanks Xeno! for stepping ahead on samus, and now that you mention it, i'd put some lighter gray in the arm cannon, in places like the tip, OR the round things on its sides, and some other highlight in the left arm, another round thing she has there, it would carry a highlight to be easier to spot, and in the strips on the leg armor, that's all, i can't imagine a spot to put a pattern or the logo

I like.  Assuming the color's comparably saturated in-game, that looks just about perfect.

I don't think the white overall straps work well on him. If you turned them back to black, it'd look a bit better.
Also, what color are the W's on his hands?

You could also try making the W's on his hands the Mirage logo like his hat.
If it doesn't end up looking good then just switch em' back.

well, i had a rain a bit ago, and a blackout, ending in my work with the Mirage wolf erased without a back-up, i have a very early PSD, all i can show is a few changed textures

well, having in mind the theme's colors it's cool and all, but it's missing something wich would make her look a bit excentric, like some other higlights, like putting a lighter color in the tip of the knees or the back, just in case you know, but without braking the balance between darks and lights

I actually don't want to go too crazy with the highlights and decals all over her armor. I want it to be simple and sleek, yet professional and stylish, and I feel I've accomplished just that already. You or anyone else are more than welcome to make an alternate, though.

Also where is NoFun, I want to know if he's gonna release his ZSS or not, cause if not then I'll take her as well.

i'd do the alternate, but the only i'd make, is add more tones to your version, meaning that yours' purple and silver hues will not be changed, but i'll not make it untill it's released obviously, because i need the file you will make, and adding a pattern or logo seems hard for her, i admit
And i'd like to adapt it to an Other M model version as well :3 (including Zamus)

I think Xenozoa's Samus is pretty much perfect, it stays true to the design of the original armor. Adding any more would complicate the design.

Seems odd, but these are the only colors i used ._.
Besides of Monochromatic tones, these colors are the ones used for Mirage Wolf, placed with different opacities and modes in certain parts, a friend told me i should've used used Cobalt Blue, but i need more feedback to be sure

Too many colors everywhere man. Make the hand part of the gloves all one solid color. Scouter lens looks better when it's colored and not black/white. You can also add cyan to the circle in the middle of his reflector back pack thing.

Also the M logo seems really forced, almost to the point where it looks unprofessional.

whatever you do, do not change those boots.

I forgot to get rid of the logo in the hand, but erased it from the scouter, and added color to it

Samus looks very nice. It also matches the same colors styles as Mars and Maritime.

I love it so much.
But I think you miss understood him. He didnt want the glove one solid color as in
"remove the metal plates"
He meant you colored each section of the glove in a different color when it should all be one color
(Finger sleeves,glove,wrist thingy)
Its a little too distracting and makes the glove look like its not a glove, but a jumble of hand accessories.
I think you should make the glove the same color as the wrist part.

ShadowLuigi, I love your Wario. the use of the M was the same idea I had too xD
But I do think its kinda wierd that his overall straps suddenly become white. If you wanna add white accents try doing what his "white/sailor" outfit does
by coloring the brim of his hat and gloves. The straps look too distracting an unreal.
