Title: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: AutumnVen on March 14, 2014, 04:37:23 PM BrawlEx + Project M = AMAZING But is it possible?... Alright, so I am starting this thread for people to post anything and everything that they know about the possiblity of BrawlEx working with Project M. I know that a lot of people are wanting this, and that it has been asked before, but everyone seems to say that the answer to this question is no. No, Project M and BrawlEx are not compatible... We are here to prove them wrong!!! For those of you who have no idea what either of these things are... Here are the links! BrawlEx Thread: http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=65113.0 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=65113.0) Project M Official Site: http://projectmgame.com/en/ (http://projectmgame.com/en/) I have heard that apparently the latest version of Project M, 3.02, has built in codes so that cloning and easily editing of things is more difficult... Well thanks to MachWindEX, who has provided us with an older version of Project M, we can attempt to mess with version 2.1! Here is the download link for 2.1: http://www.mediafire.com/download/z6x23d8p7n9ao3b/project+m+2.1.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/download/z6x23d8p7n9ao3b/project+m+2.1.zip) So my goal for this thread is to answer this question! Whether it be that it is a complete dead end and we have all wasted out time... OR!!! We have created another amazing thing for the Brawl hacking community to enjoy!! :af: Please try and keep this thread specifically on the topic of BrawlEx + Project M. If you have questions about BrawlEx or Project M separately, please ask those questions in the actual threads for those. Not here. Thanks! ;) Post Merge: March 14, 2014, 06:44:05 PM Well to start things off... I have messed around with v2.1 a little bit and found that it is not gonna be as easy as just copy and paste. Obviously. :P When you add all of the proper BrawlEx files into the correct folders the game works fine until you get to the CSS. You get a completely blank CSS. The bad news about this is that it isn't working, but the good news is that this means that the BrawlEx data is being read and applied in some way! I think this is because of something in the codes. Post Merge: March 14, 2014, 07:14:33 PM Alright. Well here are all of the codes that are inside of the Project M v2.1 RSBE01.gct I believe that the individual pokemon, CSS gigabowser fix, and zelda icon codes need to be removed somehow, but my code editors don't seem to allow me to enter all 3781 lines of the Project M code. Any help on this would be appreciated. I'm gonna have to split the Project M codes into its own separate posts because it exceeds the maximum allowed characters for a post!! Post Merge: March 14, 2014, 07:16:25 PM Here are the Project M codes! Part 1 Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: Rosetta-Hime on March 14, 2014, 07:40:41 PM Nice work!
Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: AutumnVen on March 14, 2014, 07:41:26 PM Project M codes! Part 2!
This is a lot of codes, so if anyone can get all of the Project M code into a single .gct file, that would be great! Thank you Rosetta-Hime :af: Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: Rosetta-Hime on March 14, 2014, 07:42:55 PM Haha, Anytime! :)
Post Merge: March 14, 2014, 10:12:47 PM Ok, so is there anyway to tell where one code begins and where another ends in the unknown codes section? And to add all the characters that 3.0+ has, minus Mewtwo and Roy, modify the Custom CSS, or use the CSSRoster.dat file. I know one thing, all those unknown codes are going to be a pain in the donkey. Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: SmashKing64 on March 15, 2014, 07:51:40 AM btw pokemaster y dont u use the gct editor from the resource page and the code manager that brawl ex suggested so u can edit the codes

Post by: AutumnVen on March 15, 2014, 07:55:41 AM Haha, Anytime! :) Post Merge: March 14, 2014, 10:12:47 PM Ok, so is there anyway to tell where one code begins and where another ends in the unknown codes section? And to add all the characters that 3.0+ has, minus Mewtwo and Roy, modify the Custom CSS, or use the CSSRoster.dat file. I know one thing, all those unknown codes are going to be a pain in the donkey. My GCT editor that I use searches a database of all known public codes. So the huge unknown codes list is everything that the Project M team created, so they are not on the database. So distinguishing one code from another is almost impossible, and even if we did get them separated we won't know what the codes themselves specifically do. As far as v3.0s codes, I haven't looked into them at all. I would assume that they do include their clone engine and CSS codes. I believe that the codes that I have dissected from 2.1 will be able to be used with BrawlEx. Because 2.1 uses the custom CSS code, if we take that out, then theoretically BrawlEx will work with Project M! At the moment I am trying to put all of the unknown codes into their own RSBE01.gct, but It is a real pain! My GCTeditor and Codemanager don't seem to like me adding 3781 lines of code... Codemanager only allows for 256 and GCTeditor is picky about its input. So right now I am manually going through all 3781 lines of code and deleting all of the spaces and returns so that I can input it into the GCTeditor! This is gonna take a while... :-\ Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: SmashKing64 on March 15, 2014, 08:09:12 AM oh hows the progress so far tho is it going well?
at least we know its reading the code tho Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: Rosetta-Hime on March 15, 2014, 08:12:18 AM Oh, that sucks so much! But I just thought of something. You are trying to make this work on 2.1 correct? If that's the case, then the modules haven't been heavily modified yet, which means .rel ports will work, and using the CSSRoster.dat you could add Yoshi, Kirby, Samus, ICs, all with their PM 3.0 form, if I'm not mistaken. It sucks that GCTEditor always has to make the codes one giant line. It takes forever, and it sometimes doesn't work.
Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: SmashKing64 on March 15, 2014, 08:23:41 AM also since there ends up with a blank css y dont u first get rid of every character and readd them with the movesets we want them at
Post Merge: March 15, 2014, 08:25:32 AM like add the project m 3.0 rels Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: Rosetta-Hime on March 15, 2014, 08:31:18 AM well with the 3.0 rels, we wouldn't be able to actually do this. Those were modified very heavily from the vBrawl ones. That kinda defeats the purpose
Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: SmashKing64 on March 15, 2014, 08:37:58 AM hmm then we just use a rel port
Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: AutumnVen on March 15, 2014, 04:49:09 PM Alright, well I haven't been able to work on it much today. (I went to the zoo!) Anyways, what I did find out is that this is way to big of a task for one man alone. So I have a request for everyone...
I have split the 3781 lines of code into 25 separate txt documents. Would anyone be willing to help format these files so that they can work in the GCT Editor? They need to be turned from this: 3860FFFF 2C03FFFF 48000008 2C00FFFF 60000000 00000000 4A000000 90000000 1619D000 000000B8 To this format: 3860FFFF2C03FFFF480000082C00FFFF60000000000000004 A000000900000001619D000000000B8 No spaces or returns. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/oaivwl9hgos2edd/wCI_gEQjYo (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/oaivwl9hgos2edd/wCI_gEQjYo) Here is a dropbox link to all of the 25 sets of separate code. They are split into 150 line intervals, except for set 25. Set 25 has more like 180. If anyone wants to help me with this task, send me a PM saying which one you want to work on, and I will tell you if that one has been taken or not. Your help is greatly appreciated! Post Merge: March 15, 2014, 05:17:17 PM I just completed Set 25, and that didn't take as long as I thought it would. It went rather fast actually. So that's 1/25 done! If others could help, then this can get done really fast, and after this is done further testing can happen! But at the moment this needs to get done before anything else. Nothing done to them. -The Unknown codes -The Known codes minus the CSS related codes -The combined Unknown and Known codes minus the CSS related ones I haven't gotten a chance to test anything yet, and will probably do so later today. Post Merge: March 17, 2014, 05:47:54 PM Alright everyone... I have some interesting results for you all to see. Here are my results: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3MjCUQJKk4 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3MjCUQJKk4) The second time I used the Unkown codes and the other Known codes that were in the Project M gct. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUdqhlEWeIQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUdqhlEWeIQ) Something tells me that to fix this it will take more time and knowledge than I have... :-\ So any help or ideas would be appreciated! Ya... I might screw around with it a little bit longer, but it really is starting to look like a dead end. I don't normally like to give up on things like this, but because of so many unknown variables that only project m staff knows of, it does almost seem impossible. :( I still might look into it a little longer though... Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! (Help Wanted!) Cause to me it just looks like a bunch of characters all mushed together in sets of 16... Do you think that this code that is preventing CSS addition would look anything like the custom CSS code? Or is there a certain line of code that is in every CSS related code? Cause if so, then one could just go through and find all the codes that start with this and delete them from the list... idk. Just some thoughts. I honestly don't know much about codes, so ya... I'm more into texture and model hacks myself. :P Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! (Help Wanted!) What exactly is the Data Index that is in the list of codes? What does it do? What is it for? Why? Post Merge: March 24, 2014, 06:09:51 PM And do you think that it matters what fpc is used? Whether it is the Project M, or just the normal? Cause if I remember correctly from when I was messing with it before; It is the same fpc that I already had in my gct. You have another duplicate of Ledge Hang Duration/ Ledgedrop/Grab Speedup. And also the Melee Airdodge code that you have does not work. Instead I used this Code: Melee Airdodge 5.1 [Shanus] and it works perfectly! So far I have the animations, shields, and jumps working with both normal characters and clones. I have not tested all clones yet, but the ones I did worked fine. The only problem is that Luigi still doesn't want to wavedash! The other characters, and even the clones can do it, but for some reason Luigi can't! Later on this week in my progress video I will show what is happening. I plan to post that around Wednesday, Thursday at the latest. Post Merge: March 24, 2014, 10:28:05 PM Dash and Ledge related codes are now inputted and working. The only bug that I am having at the moment besides Luigi is that Goku doesn't seem to like the Melee Airdodge. He will either T-stance, or make the game freeze. The other clones that I tested did work though. I know I have had problems with Goku in the past when I replaced Pit in the actual version of Project M. Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Code: RSBE01 None of them cause it to freeze, but there is one problem. The Momentum Capture code causes the characters to propel themselves backwards when they do a forward jump. Whenever he would be in free fall he would land on his head and stall. This caused him to hit his head every time he would go to wavedash. So to fix it all I did was add the FitLuigi.pac and FitLuigiMotionEtc.pac to my Luigi folder, and it fixed the problem. The Project M has a different free fall animation that allows for him to wavedash. :P

To answer armored dragons questions. Currently it isn't actually using Project M directly. We are currently creating a code set that gives vbrawl the mechanics of melee. It isn't really adding brawlex to project m. It is more like adding project m to vbrawl. If that makes any sense? :P So yes any stage or cBLISS codes will work with what we are making. I am currently using the codes with Nebulon's pack and he has stage expansion and other codes applied. Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! (Help Wanted!) Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! (Help Wanted!) Post by: AutumnVen on March 26, 2014, 04:56:44 PM Here is my update video of the latest version that I have working! Sorry about the poor audio at the beginning of the video. :-\
Project M + BrawlEx Codeset test update (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueBSM8qdCkU&feature=youtu.be) (I'm P2 ;)) There are some glitches, which is to be expected. Such as Mewtwo's shadowball not showing up after playing as Lucario. Goku also freezes, as you can see at the end of the video, when he does his melee dodges. Also me and some guys were just playing it, and we have gotten random in-game freezes, but only like 1 within the 3 hours we were playing it! Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! (Help Wanted!) Post by: cbennett2121 on March 26, 2014, 06:54:48 PM Yes it is possible. I recently finished the GCT to get the brawl ex engine to work with the pm engine.
Right now I have it at the point that visually it is vanilla brawl, it has the mechanics of pm, and the character limit of brawl ex. I'm still working on getting everything to work(like special brawl, stages, and characters) but there are some limitations still, mainly not having all o the character rels from PW Project EX (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=67116.0) Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! If it's any assistance, I've tried taking mewtwo's moveset from PM and using him in Vbrawl. That exact same glitch occurred. this leads me to think that their mewtwo's moveset is using something not standard to lucario's files or likely it requires a code we haven't deciphered. My pack uses Project M roy's data files directly from his fighter folder. No glitches. As such (as many of you already know) the codes and the PSA's are 2 halfs of a whole when it comes to the playstyle you get in PM. EDIT: someone should try V-brawl with ALL of project M's files. and just use a file replace code or whatever and see if the glitches in some of the movesets dissappear Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: AutumnVen on April 01, 2014, 05:08:05 PM is there going to be a hackless version of this? the sd card in the wii, load it up on brawl method? just wondering At this point in time not really. I haven't messed with it at all. I'm sure it's possible, but I haven't looked into it. I honestly haven't looked at anything in a while! Life just got full of things to do!!! I won't be able to work on anything for the next week either because I will be on a music tour to St. Louis and won't have time to do anything! Nor do I have my wii and my laptop's Dolphin emulator is really laggy and terrible. My laptop is just not good for games I guess... It doesn't even run Goat Simulator (http://www.goat-simulator.com/) cleanly!!!!! :( (If you don't know what Goat Simulator is, then check it out. I'm not trying to be an advertisement for it, I just think it's awesome and more people should know about it! ;)) Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: AutumnVen on April 11, 2014, 11:17:59 AM Well I think it has finally been done, but not by me. Here are some peoples versions that they have created! (I am actually using one of them at the moment for my game :P)
Project EX (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=67116.0) Project M Unbound (Now Compatible With Brawl EX Clone Engine) (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=67176.0) BrawlEx working with Project M (Testers needed) (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=67178.0) I hope everyone can enjoy using these, and I believe that this case is closed. Yes Project M can work with BrawlEx! :af: Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: TheGamerKidTy on January 16, 2015, 11:48:08 AM Also, I made my own Project M + BrawlEx build, Project M D.I.Y. (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=71445.0)
It is specifically made for people to work off of, so you can add the clones YOU want! Sorry for the shameless plug, I just wanted to throw this out for any people who may still be looking for options Title: Re: Working BrawlEx with Project M! Post by: Keizer Organa on April 27, 2015, 04:52:08 PM Quote I have heard that apparently the latest version of Project M, 3.02, has built in codes so that cloning and easily editing of things is more difficult... Well thanks to MachWindEX, who has provided us with an older version of Project M, we can attempt to mess with version 2.1! Here is the download link for 2.1: http://www.mediafire.com/download/z6x23d8p7n9ao3b/project+m+2.1.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/download/z6x23d8p7n9ao3b/project+m+2.1.zip) Link is dead. |
