This seems like an interesting project.
Posting to subscribe.

Just a question, Shouldn't the project have other goals?
What I mean is: the goals you listed have been already completed so why even have them when you're just starting this project?

I hope to see more updates on this on the future

Yes I can! Do you prefer custom or vanilla? (referring to CSS elements)

And for that one gameplay I'll need a copy (preferrably 7z, but zip works as well) of the project's contents. (preferrably on a dropbox. saves me a trip to my other computer)

For those wondering, the build's looking great. all the menu's have the PM look and the gameplay is just like PM and glitch free. We just gotta begin improving by building the best brawlEX pack for this.

Might I suggest we start considering the list of character's we're gunna ultimately have?

Title: Re: Project M Unbound
Post by: SmashKing64 on March 31, 2014, 01:16:07 PM
Melee master we don't have a list we take character requests from the community

Title: Re: Project M Unbound
Post by: MeleeMaster500 on March 31, 2014, 02:12:10 PM
cosmetics fixed, anyone on the team who can do CSS stuff should replace the portraits and stuff with better than what i've done. but at least that'll fix all the freezes.

heres a patch over any builds anyone on the team might already have:

EDIT:http://www.mediafire.com/download/fgssy328gw5s13h/PMUnbound_linked_CSS.zip

(it's extracted from my pack and modified for the current characters- the 1st pichu cosmetics are the correct ones for the pack)

for only those that really care:

slots 39 and 27 are not included because brawlex doesn't need to override other cosmetics to work. (PM used these for roy and mewtwo's cosmetics, which i moved to their own slots)

therefore, you can also have an original Pokemon trainer slot if you wanted

tell me if you find any glitches

How come every time I go into the Clone Engine an error popup about Microsoft .NET Framework pops up? Should I just press continue and proceed to add clones or what?

I'm running off Windows XP btw

Yes, just continue. This is an error that I have ran into plenty of times.  It is caused by the method we currently use to replace all of the original characters since they lack all of the needed BrawlEX files.  This leads the program to be unable to read the folder properly.  You can still add new clones you just will not see all of the old clones appear.

so, the error occurs when the program is trying to find brawlex files for the original roster? that seems like something easy and necessary to fix.

Okay, thank you. I did proceed to do so, but I noticed that there was a portrait I didn't even add on my clone, I hovered over the clone and it froze the game.. Weird.

Bugs: Pichu: Pichu's head tends to get big and that healing animation when he does his up taunt occasionally surrounds him when he's moving. His aerial neutral B has the chance of freezing an opponent for a long time.

Megaman: He doesn't have directional airdodge. Also, he has vbrawl physics.
Roy doesn't have his own SFX (he's silent)

It's good to notice all bugs, so good job.

fixes for these:

use the pichu model import and delete the motion file, this will fix resizing and known freezes with the file.

as for megaman, his moveset might not be "suited" for PM, as are all clone characters besides roy and mewtwo. I think, but am not sure, that the airdodge isn't correct because of his moveset.

and yeah, someone with the knowledge should add sfx for characters

Oh wow I didn't know this was a thing already. I've been working on a perfect BrawlEX beta and its working like a charm so far. I'd love to playtest and see the potential of this project.

EDIT: I've got almost all the guys mentioned in your poll working like on mine except HOW ARE YOU GETTING SKULL KID???!?!?!?!?!?! I thought Toon Link didn't have a BrawlEX compatible .rel- that's the ONLY reason I don't have him! I RLY want him tho. However, my friends love them some P:M Toon Link  :notimp:

someone try out this css edit on the existing build: http://www.mediafire.com/download/27rkck24kvb6g4f/PMUnbound+CSS+fix2b.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/download/27rkck24kvb6g4f/PMUnbound+CSS+fix2b.zip)

you should be able to notice that mewtwo and roy have PM costume portraits. (not that this was the major change but the others shouldn't be noticeable compared to the previous- namely the the files are restructured to be in the correct order)

I would love to help your project in finding bugs and giving out necessary advise. I don't have a capture card at the moment (my last one broke recently), but i DO have a hi def 1080p 60Fps Camera. Which is all i can do on recording. Again it would make me feel happy if i can help your project in anyway i can.

Oh! I almost forgot. I also do custom logos on my free time. So...yeah...thought that was something you might want :D

New update beta 2 coming out wednesday
Just found this thread and I have to say, I can't wait for that. Scott Pilgrim is one of my favorite mods and I am excited to use him in the Project M environment.
I might become a beta tester as well. I play Project M with my friends almost every weekday inbetween our classes at college.

Also, subscribed.

Edit:
I've yet to actually try the pack out yet but, do any of the added characters have any real changes made to them like gravity or moveset rebalences?

This Project seems very interesting, not exactly the same as Project M Official, but seems very fun about having Smash 4 characters, is there a Especific list of characters that are in game?

So I have been using this, and it's great. Congrats on getting it to work! (I sort of just stopped working on this project altogether...  :()

But I have one little problem with it...   Turbo Mode.

I was playing normal Project M 3.02 with some guys the other night, and we had gotten some awesome combos going on in turbo mode. We then decided to switch to my SD card that had your pack on it. We played turbo mode again, but it wasn't the same... We could not achieve the same combos as we did before. For example my friend had figured out a good chain of Ganon's up-b and side-b where he could go continuously switching between the two attacks. When he tried it in Unbound he was unable to do it.
So I guess the point of this is to ask: Are you sure turbo mode works EXACTLY the same? I don't think it does... Are all the necessary codes there, or are there some that might have been left out? Has anyone else noticed this difference?

From what I remember playing with this mod, I think this technique isn't avialable/doesn't work in PM Unbound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjpvlB8pMPQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjpvlB8pMPQ)

Every time I try to use the C-Stick to perform the moonwalk, the character turns in the opposite direction. Anyway this could be implemented back into PM Unbound?

Also, if you want a reference, this GCT has the trick working: http://www.mediafire.com/download/4sujyr16rrzb4yd/RSBE01+PM+Brawl+Ex.gct (http://www.mediafire.com/download/4sujyr16rrzb4yd/RSBE01+PM+Brawl+Ex.gct)

Not exactly sure who made the .gct, but credit to him for actually getting it to work.

Post by: AutumnVen on April 18, 2014, 03:41:45 PM
Ok, so idk if this has anything to do with Unbound or if it is just me doing something stupid.

So I am trying to replace Rainbow Cruise with Mango Destination. (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Moderated=All&Reported=All&Wifi=0&Featured=All&Name=Mango+Destination&ByUser=&Credit=&Info=&AudioSource=&MainType=-1) Mango Destination is meant to go over regular Final Destination, so I am using this website (http://www.lakora.us/rel/) to convert a module for base of FD to replace RC. I put both that module file, and the renamed STG.pac into their proper folders, replacing any existing files. But then when I go to try and enter a battle it freezes after I select the stage... What gives? I did nothing different than what I have done before. I have replaced stages in regular ProjM before in the same manner. Is there something in the codes that might have to do with this, or am I just forgetting something? Or something with the module files?

That's fine. There are just some stages that annoy me that I want to replace, but for some odd reason it is not working. I also tried replacing Peach's Castle, and that one had the exact same error. So maybe I am doing something wrong... I also asked the same question in the stage help forum area... so far it has 1 view!  :-\

Just tried this out with almost all the new characters. I gotta say, the preview video you linked to before doesn't do it justice. These characters fit so well with Project M, and they are even more fun to play as, especially Ridley (Side-B = Win).

Kudos to everyone that made this possible. This really does add a lot to Project M.

Finally got this working on Dolphin. Gecko hooks annoy me.

Where do we post bugs we've found? I suppose I'll post any here until otherwise specified.

Visual Bug: Pichu T-Pose In Idle Stance (Powered Up)
Priority: Low
- Once Pichu reaches 100% damage and goes into a "powered up" state, whenever you stand completely still, Pichu goes into a T-Pose. Its pretty unnoticeable though.

Just downloaded the beta....  :patrick:

This is a lot better than the last update! Good work on getting turbo mode to function properly.

I see that in your sc_selcharacter you have Cloud, Tails, Scott P, Tabuu, and Megaman. Are you planning on adding them eventually?

You also have seemed to skip config numbers for 47-53... Is there a reason behind that as well?

I'm just curious because I might add my own clones to the pack.

Hey, with you using the PM Launcher, the Hackless version can't properly utizlize clones. The config file doesn't do anything, so what files do I need to replace to get rid of the PM Launcher?

I just tested that, and I can see your point. The normal characters are easy, but the clones are rather difficult. I was able to do it decently with just their regular landing out of jumping, but out of attacks was more difficult. By far the easiest to do it with was Pichu, and I couldn't even do it once with Mewtwo, and Waluigi was a little odd as well. I think it is still possible with clones, but that it is just extremely difficult.

SmashKing64 has a link to the beta version of this in his signature. Just click that link, download the files, then drop it onto a blank SD card. I believe he does have the SDHC extension code in the gct so you can use whatever sd card you have.

Here's how i can help. Please open the spoiler to find out.
\/  \/  \/
If you mean your want to start with a pack and are familiar with Project M, but want some extra characters? Then i highly recommend SmashKing64's "Project M Unbound pack".

Its still on beta so please be aware of this if you happen to encounter a glitch or a bug, but has a few new characters with thier own movesets (yes shadow is included.)

There are two versions of the pack.

One is for hacked Wiis:
http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=203342 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=203342)

The other is for hackless Wiis:
http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=203342 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=203342)

Both packs are premade and ready to use. All you have to do is open the zip and drag all the files contents into the root of the Sd card. From then on, either use gecko or the project M launcher to make it work.

I assume you already know other steps to customize brawl and all it's glory, so I'll just redirect you to answer your next question.

There are three hacks that might satisfy you.

[WARNING] THESE TWO HACKS ARE SPECIFICALLY FOR PROJECT M MEWTWO ONLY. DO NOT USE ON LUCARIO (even if you find a hack that turns Lucario into mewtwo, dont.)

The first one is mega Mewtwo (Y version) :
http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=35253 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=35253)

The second one is mega Mewtwo (X version):
http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=35419 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=35419)

(This one is for Lucario.)
\/                                 \/
Lastly, we have Lucario (mega evolution.):

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=34100 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=34100)

These hacks are named over a certain color. If you just want them in there, just dragged them into there fighter folder and replace the one that is trying to put itself as. If you need any assistance, please feel free to contact me by PM or wait for SmashKing64 to help you.

Hoped this helped.

Hero of Termina~ http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=35251 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=35251)

It's a Toon Link PSA though, so you won't be able to add it without removing Toon Link.

So Toon Link can't be cloned and then replaced for the Young Link Hero of Termina moveset?

Also a couple of questions.

1. In project M Roy and Mewtwo are both called by name when they are selected will that be added in to Unbound?

2. I was able to hack melee fox, melee Gannondorf and Roger craig smith Sonic voice files in project M and I couldn't in Project M unbound? Is there something I'm doing wrong or are the character sounds in the game unable to be changed?

In sc_selcharacter.pac, the .brres files in char_bust_tex_lz77 that contain the CSPs aren't editable. In fact, when I extract them, they don't have a file extension.

Are they supposed to be like that, or am I doing something wrong?

I just tried out the pack. Wavedashing feels really... off. I can't do it for crap, even with Mario(who is my main). I tried it with input assist both on and off and I could still barely do it. I thought maybe I was just out of practice, but the moment I loaded the Official Project M back up, I could wavedash perfectly again.
Is this a glitch or something that will be fixed in the next update?

I was actually noticing that same thing the other day when I used it. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now that you mention it there is something off with it. Honestly at this point I would suggest that the focus should be more getting the mechanics to work properly. We have already proved that clones work, so instead of adding more clones, focus on the mechanics.

You can add brawlex clones to the game like you normally would, but there is no guarantee that they will work. Because the PSA has not been edited for Project M Unbound specifically they may not be compatible. The codes may cause the characters to freeze. You can try and add your own, but you should expect the game to freeze. If it doesn't freeze, then you are lucky. :P

Well I think it really depends on the clone. Did you ever add Goku? Because I know for me he always froze. Most do work, but there never is a guarantee that they will work with the codes.

You add them in the same way as you would any BrawlEx character. If you have questions about that check out this thread (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=65113.0) for how to add clones.

Hey, your codeset txt file is for the wifi safe version. I think this is what's causing people to mess up their wave dashes, since light presses are registered as full presses. Do you plan on making a codeset txt file for the non wifi?

That depends... SmashKing64! Have you been working on this lately or not?
I know I have been working on other projects lately, so I haven't been really working on this one.

2 Ideas.

1: Authentic Kirby, Kirby hats should all be hats from the Kirby franchise what I purpose is that upon 'eating' characters like Ike, Mario, Bowser, Charizard and any other fire users Kirby always becomes fire Kirby with a set attack, same with sword Kirby ect. I am suggesting this because I think it just needs to be in this, it would fit so well.

2: Alloys with unique movesets. Alloys, own slots, have smash attacks, why not.

Cool idea, and I would love to see it, but that isn't really related to Project M Unbound... That's more of a general topic. But yes I do agree that that would be cool. Maybe you can make a statement in another thread with that idea. ;) or better yet, create a thread!

2: Alloys with unique movesets. Alloys, own slots, have smash attacks, why not.
Um... What I said in the first one. :P
But I guess adding alloys to this could be a possibility. But currently I think the main goal at the moment is the mechanics. Not necessarily that heavy of an push on characters at the moment.

That depends... SmashKing64! Have you been working on this lately or not?

You could talk about kirby in the Model Import section. Either in discussion or maybe even request if you want.

And I feel like there is probably a thread about the Alloys out there already somewhere... Idk where, but I'm sure there is one if you dig for it. :P

I know some want the alloys and all, but why? They have the movesets of the other characters. If its just for the sake of having them, for two of them, couldn't you just have a model import over Mario & Jigglypuff and make them EX slots?

Great job on this project; my friends and I have really enjoyed playing it. I hope you keep the quality of the new Chars Up; I'm sure there's a great temptation to just shove a bunch of vault PSAs in to boost count.

That said, if you are trying to boost character count, I have an interesting idea. As I understand it, the inability to add new sound effects is stopping us from adding a ton of new characters. With that in mind, I propose adding Shiek and Zelda with new down B's as two new characters.

Since separating those two is so heavily debated, it would be interesting to test out the best of both worlds. You can do the same thing with Pokemon Trainer, granted no one really liked the stamina mechanic.

Anyway, keep up the good work. I'm about to be all over that new beta release

Vanguard from the PMBR said, "BrawlEX is not 'feature complete' yet. Aside from the fact that it wasn't compatible with the heavily modded code and fileset that is Project M out of the gate, it didn't support cloning certain things like soundbanks; essential to crafting the polished experience we want to deliver."

http://www.reddit.com/r/SSBPM/comments/2645f1/how_brawlex_can_have_100_new_characters_yet_the/ (http://www.reddit.com/r/SSBPM/comments/2645f1/how_brawlex_can_have_100_new_characters_yet_the/)

I assume it has to do with Brawl getting upset if the filesize is changed. I'm sure we'll circumvent this problem sooner or later.

Interestingly enough though, Project M put in sounds for Mewtwo and Roy the same way you can in BrawlEx; you can replace the soundbacks for Boss characters and load them for the clones. I suppose they figured that since BrawlEx didn't have a way of ADDING sounds as opposed to replacing them, it isn't worth using Ex over the clone engine they already use.

Also I have a request for an alternate codeset. I use my own custom build, and would like to use Project M movesets. However, some movesets are buggy without the codes to go with them. I think it would be a good idea to release a GCT with only the codes that make the movesets work properly, and allow people to use the GCT fusionizer to combine their custom pack with this one.
Now for that GCT would you want it to have both the Project M movesets and mechanics, or just Project M movesets with vBrawl mechanics? Because I am pretty sure that different codes are used to edit the movesets compared to the mechanics.

Play Tester

What region do you live in? - I live in the U.S., up north.
Do you play Smash with others or mostly with CPU’s? - Mostly others, sometimes CPU's, but even Lvl. 9's can't touch me. ^.^
What are you running on? Nintendo Wii? Nintendo Wii U? Dolphin? - Nintendo Wii, Heavily Modified.
How much time do you have available? - I have a lot of time, but not on the weekends.
Can you share videos, such as streaming and/or upload youtube videos? We Want To Spread The Word! - YES, I can! My YT channel is MegaGEN50!
Have you played hacks before? Whats your method of loading(Hacked/Hackless)? - I load Hacked. I have indeed played other hacks before.

Post by: AutumnVen on June 23, 2014, 02:49:25 PM
I tried fusing that with my GCT and the CSS didn't even show up properly.  Thanks, though.
Yeah I had no idea what that would do, so it's good to know that that doesn't work!
Actually now that I think about it, I think that set had the old Custom CSS code in it that was used before the CSSRoster.dat. That would explain why that didn't work. :P

I managed to find out what was causing the error with a few of my characters. It was the "Character ID Fix 2.1" code. Not sure if this code is in the Project: M Unbound codeset, but the codeset I found in SmashKing64 had it.
If my memory serves me correctly, I don't remember seeing that code in the Ubound codeset.

Have you had any trouble with clones and their air dodge? I know I have had some troubles in the past with Goku freezing after performing an air dodge.

Do you play Smash with others or mostly with CPU’s? - Others

What are you running on? Nintendo Wii? Nintendo Wii U? Dolphin? - Wii U

How much time do you have available? - Tons.

Can you share videos, such as streaming and/or upload youtube videos? We Want To Spread The Word! - I don't have a capture card, but I can record videos.

Have you played hacks before? Whats your method of loading(Hacked/Hackless)? - I've played hacks tons, but use Hackless so I don't risk bricking my new Wii U.

They should be still connected through the final smash. I haven't really played it recently and haven't checked, but I believe they still are because PM is based around competitive play which doesn't include smash balls, then there is no need to make samus and zss separate. :P

I had PM 3.02 working and wanted to try this one. I replaced the folders from PM 3.02 with the Unbound ones and try to boot. Gecko boots and I choose axnextframe as my hook but it only loads vanilla brawl and then crashes shortly after charselect. I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Title: Re: Project M Unbound (Beta 2 Is Out)

Did you make sure to use the codes provided with Unbound? Do you have the right kind of sd card? Are you sure you copied all of the correct files? Am I asking to many questions? :P

I would try deleting everything from the sd card, and then put the Unbound ones onto it. If that doesn't work, then there is a bigger issue.

I have a 16gb SD card. I know that can cause problems. yea i used the codes that came with it. I'll try clearing the card. Also is it possible to add characters to this myself with the BrawlEX utilities?

Title: Re: Project M Unbound (Beta 2 Is Out)
Post by: AutumnVen on August 08, 2014, 02:53:49 PM
Yes you should be able to add characters like normal BrawlEX packs. My only caution is that occasionally some PSAs will freeze in game. The one example that I constantly had was Goku not being able to air dodge. He would dodge and then freeze. :P

Title: Re: Project M Unbound (Beta 2 Is Out)
Post by: allfearbaggz on August 08, 2014, 04:25:01 PM
Ok awesome thanks. Does my SD card work or do I need to add the SDHC stuff to the gct supplied with Unbound?. Yea I added Goku to PM and that would happen. It only happened when air dodging backwards while just making contact with the ground for me. Upsetting cause that is one of my favorite PSAs. Does not having all the FitXxxDark.pcs and the spy stuff matter? most of the packs i want to install dont have those files and the install guides written for BrawlEx didn't go to much into detail about them.

Title: Re: Project M Unbound (Beta 2 Is Out)
Post by: AutumnVen on August 08, 2014, 04:40:21 PM
I'm not sure about the SDHC extension in the Unbound pack, but I would copy the gct to make sure you have an original, and then add the sdhc to the copy and use that as the set of codes. I have seen, like in Nebulon's pack, people not have all of the files for a character, but I generally add them anyway just to be safe. No harm done in extra precautions. :P

Title: Re: Project M Unbound (Beta 2 Is Out)
Post by: allfearbaggz on August 08, 2014, 04:54:28 PM

I'd like to be a play tester.

I live in the NTSC region.
I have a YouTube account and I have an HDPVR that I can use to record my games, Adobe premiere elements 11 to edit footage in post. I use homebrew setups on a 4.3U Wii console and an SDHC with 8 gigs.
Note: I can also try testing on Dolphin and Wii U but I don't have a method of loading hacks on either of those at the moment.

I mostly play with CPU's.
