Title: The Master of Brawl Post by: Ricky (Br3) on September 21, 2014, 04:01:38 PM This is an idea I've had for years now, but never really bothered making a project out of.
What if there was a character, a single character that had the best possible of every possible aspect of Brawl? The best jab. The best jump height. The best body build. The best running speed. The best up-air. The best of everything there is to be, but in one single character. For example. Let's take that Snake's up-tilt is the best up-tilt in the game (just an example). So, this character would have it. Sonic's speed is the best in the game. So that would be this character's speed. So, in a sense, this would be the Master of Brawl, the character that takes the best of all the Brawlers to himself. For this to be possible, there needs to be a little bit of discussion first. Some things, like running speed, for example, are quite obvious, but some, not so much. Here in the OP, inside the spoilers in the end of the post, I'll list the decisions for everything that we discuss. BRAWL ROSTER For the sake of quick checking, here's Brawl's full roster, with the characters we'll choose moves from: (http://splodinator.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Roster.jpg) PICKING MOVES As for picking moves, when seeing which move is best, you have to think: 1- Start Up. Does the move start quickly after input? 2- Hitbox/Range. Is the hitbox big? Does it reach far? 3 - Invincibility/Hurtbox. Does it make you invincible for some frames? Does it make you less vulnerable? 4- Knockback/Damage. Does it send the opponent flying? Does it cause big % increase? 5- Endlag. Does it take too much time before you can perform another action or even move at all? 6- Punishment. Does it leave you too open if you miss or hit the shield? Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: FarAway on September 21, 2014, 04:26:41 PM BASE CHARACTER (http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130625004601/kirby/en/images/d/d4/Meta_Knight_(Super_Smash_Bros._Brawl)_Trophy.jpg) Personally, I think we should start off from Metaknight. Why? Because he has a small body, just like Kirby and Jigglypuff, which allows him to have smaller body to hit. Aside from that, Metaknight has 5 jumps (the most in the game) AND a glide, something only him and Pit share. Last, but not least, Metaknight is possible to be cloned by BrawlEx, which makes him a good choice for a base character. BODY BUILD As I stated above, a smaller body is best. I'm unsure about which character is the smallest (MK, Jiggs or Kirby), so that is something to discuss. :kirby: :jiggly: :mk: No matter which orb we choose, I'd suggest changing his face to a SmashBall, since it's best that it looks like something new, and having a Smashball as his face makes a lot of sense in this case. RUNNING SPEED Everyone else is TOO SLOW :sonic: GLIDE All glides are about the same. Personally, I believe MK's is the best. The glide attack we can discuss whether it's Pit or MK's :pit: :mk: Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: Large Leader on September 21, 2014, 04:32:05 PM Or just leave it at Metaknight. Everyone would be fine with that :P
Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: SonicBrawler on September 21, 2014, 04:46:27 PM interesting. iirc, Squirlte has the best Up smash in brawl. so we could use that. its quick, and powerful (lucas's is also just as strong i believe, but is slower)

Zelda / Mario / Pikachu have also very good up-smashes. For the sake of quick checking, I'll put the roster in the OP EDIT: Man, Toon Link! Toon Link has a quick, strong and hard-to-punish Up Smash! Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: SonicBrawler on September 21, 2014, 04:57:06 PM after doing research, we are both wrong. its ivysaur.
Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: Ricky (Br3) on September 21, 2014, 05:00:19 PM after doing research, we are both wrong. its ivysaur. Ivysaur's is the strongest, but is too slow to consistently use, don't you think? Same with Lucas. Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: SonicBrawler on September 21, 2014, 05:04:26 PM I feel its quicker than lucas's. someone whose better at these things might be able to tell us. from what i can tell, lucas's is slower

However, I'll have to look a bit further to see which one has the hitbox coming out in less frames after input Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: SonicBrawler on September 21, 2014, 05:10:16 PM doing that type of stuff will definitely be helpful.
Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: Ricky (Br3) on September 21, 2014, 05:16:13 PM I'll save some time to look at the files tomorrow. At least it's nice to have someone interested in the idea.
If you want to help, you could look at the character boards in Smashboards. They usually have some frame data gathered by pro players. Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: SonicBrawler on September 21, 2014, 05:18:54 PM yeah. that sounds like a good idea. i really liek this idea, so it would be cool for it to happen
Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: windhunter7 on September 21, 2014, 06:39:57 PM Here would be my ideas:
BODY BUILD: Kirby, because he's the smallest to hit, so the smallest target. RUNNING SPEED: Link, because he's decently fast, but not too fast that you'd end up accidentally running off the screen.(Which would be Sonic's running.) FALLING SPEED / WEIGHT: Ganondorf, because he's the heaviest character in the entire game, so hardest to knock off. 1st JUMP HEIGHT: Samus; he has a high first-jump because of his anti-gravity thing. 2nd JUMP HEIGHT: Yoshi; he definitely has the highest second jump; no doubt about it. 3rd JUMP HEIGHT: Jigglypuff; a high 3rd jump. 4th JUMP HEIGHT: Again Jigglypuff; a high jump again. 5th JUMP HEIGHT: Again Jigglypuff; a high jump again. GLIDE: Pit. GLIDE ATTACK: ??? AERIAL MOBILITY: Jigglypuff; she has ridiculous mobility when in air. JAB: Pikachu. NAIR: Marth; he has a very powerful neutral air. UAIR: Link. DAIR: Link. BAIR: ??? DASH ATTACK: King Dedede has a very powerful dash attack. UTILT: Ganondorf's; one of the strongest moves in the game. FTILT: Sonic. DTILT: Samus. USMASH: Zelda. FSMASH: Ganondorf or Zelda. DSMASH: Pikachu. WALLJUMP: Mario. NEUTRAL SPECIAL: Zelda or Ness. UP SPECIAL: Ganondorf, King Dedede, Wolf, Link, or Marth. DOWN SPECIAL: Pikachu's; it's the most powerful and OP move in the entire game. :P SIDE SPECIAL: Zelda's; it's rediculously OP. P.S. Side Aerial Attack wasn't mentioned, and I think Ganondorf's is the most powerful. Also, I'm just curious(not flaming or anything) why you'd make a thread just to make a superly-overpowered character. Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: Ricky (Br3) on September 21, 2014, 07:04:17 PM I just want to make clear that when seeing which move is best, you have to think:
1- Start Up. (will edit this info into the OP) P.S.: Yeah, I forgot the FAIR. lol P.S.2: SonicBrawler, adding a description of your reasons would really help me understand and decide! P.S.3: Added Crouch and Crawl into the spoilers. Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: SonicBrawler on September 21, 2014, 07:26:06 PM updated my post.
Title: Re: The Master of Brawl Post by: Ricky (Br3) on September 21, 2014, 07:29:23 PM Nice. I'll soon analyse both posts and add my own opinion.
