Title: Custom wiimote strap screen
Post by: Drybonesboy on February 06, 2017, 05:08:51 PM
How do I change the "put on your wiimote's wriststrap" screen in my hack pack?
I know I'm a total noob.

It should be menu->strap->StrapEn.pac

system->common5_en.pac/common5.pac
Then, in that file,
sc_selcharacter_en->MiscData[90]->Textures(NW4R)

system->common5_en.pac/common5.pac
Then, in that file,
sc_selcharacter_en->MiscData[90]->Textures(NW4R)
Wait. in common 5, it's a null file. what do I do then? I have a separate sc_selcharacter.pac, but I'm honestly lost. I replaced the stock icons there with the custom ones, but no luck. please help me!

I already did that, but it didn't work.

Are you using regular Brawl, or Project M, and if Project M, which version?

I'm using Legacy XP, a mod of project M 3.6

Ok, so then do as Sirkura said here:

Use sc_secharacter.pac in PF/menu2 its the same file as in common5.

But, use the latest version of BrawlBox. For Project M 3.6, they encoded the .pac file differently, so the latest version of BrawlBox is needed to see anything other than it appearing to be empty. I know, because I actually ran into this before, and then I found out that you just need to use the latest version of BrawlBox and just look at this separate file for 3.6. I dunno. When you say that you replaced the icons, did you replace the CSSs(These will have colored backgrounds; in vanilla Brawl, they're blue backgrounds, in Project M, they're purple backgrounds, etc.), CSPs(They will have transparent backgrounds, which'll look like checkerboards in BrawlBox), and Stock Icons in the sc_selcharacter? If so, you should be fine on all regular icons, with the exception of BP icons, which are in pf->info->portrite, as individual files per portrait. And in case you're wondering what each of these abbreviations is:

CSS: Character Select Screen - This is the miniature icon in the character select screen, where you click on the box to select that particular character
CSP: Character Select Portrait - These are the different "skins" or "palette swaps" you can swap between after selecting a character
Stock Icon: Pretty sure you know what these are
BP: Battle Portrait - These are the portraits of the characters that appear in-game next to your health

I've changed my strap screen, where do you change the message that gets shown after the strap screen though? Before the title screen

If you mean the "4 Ways to Play", that's in the same folder location as the strap screen, but it's the controller_en.brres

If you mean a different screen, then please elaborate which one.

Thank you for the quick reply, I found it in the StrapEn.pac (still noob modder) don't know what it originally said so I'm not sure if it said '4 ways to play' (this guys build says 'Charizard Approves'). If it helps anyone else it's the very first part of the StrapEn.pac if you open it with BrawlBox the one that says MSG MiscData[0]. I was completely looking for an img/texture file that said the words I was looking for *facepalm. Thank you again

Have you tried downloading the original one from the Resources section of kc-mm? And no problem!
