Title: 4 years later, still fixed... attempt number 48!
Post by: DUMMY on August 25, 2017, 10:17:56 AM
Well I figured I'd make yet another post for this. I think this is like the 48th time or some [censored]. Anyways I've made a BrawlEx mod pack called "Sonic & Pokemon M Super+ Advanced", and ever since it's inception there have been bugs. I've practically fixed every bug that surfaced, some even solved themselves when I shifted to Dolphin. But there's always been this nasty bug that seems to happen very randomly and for no reason I can pinpoint. The bug causes the game to crash during the character entries at random. I've tried replicating almost every scenario only to come out empty handed.

I know it's NOT the entry files in any way, shape, or form. It's not a file space issue. And it's not a missing file or anything. I'm fairly certain it has something to do with my codelist. I've looked thoroughly through the codes countless times, but I'm just not that familiar with coding.

Not sure if this helps, but a long time ago, using Gecko, my game would (occasionally) freeze in this random way, and I did troubleshoot and find out it was only Gecko, because the same folders worked for Project M

Yes, but Gecko is pretty much all that can properly run my mod. Riivolution breaks many things and BrawlBuilder misses several codes and is rather funky with BrawlEx.

Have you tried using the Project M loader? It uses Gecko as a base, but doesn't have the freezes because it's loaded through the stage builder, so it's loaded in a different way

Just tried it. The PM launcher just soft-locks without even loading the strap screen.

Have you tried the hackless Gecko loader, which is what the PM loader is based off of? Because then the .gct is the same, the only difference is how it loads

Where can I get a hold of that?

Hmm, the link must've been too old; you could try googling that guys name plus the words hackles gecko and see if anything pops up

Got it, but the different boot.elf didn't fix the issue though.

Hmm... I'm wondering, then, what makes the PM version different

I'm going to try the stage launcher method and see what the result is.

It didn't work unfortunately.
