You consider 18 days a mega necro bump? I'd consider like a year to be one.
Also, people should be allowed to post here no matter how long from the last post is -- it's a help topic.
Technically, the site rules state this: "Necroposting – posting in a thread that’s been dead for over a week." However, I don't believe this applies to stickied threads. Besides, mini-modding is generally frowned upon (Though I don't think it's actually a posted rule here), so you aren't exactly being perfect yourself FlamesuruSen19. I think that posting something completely irrelevant to the topic in order to point out a violation of forum rules is considered spam though.
On a more on topic note: Is there anything (Links, version numbers, information, etc.) that needs to be updated in the guide? It's been a while since I changed anything, so I just want to make sure.
EDIT: I just realized I'm like a day late on this response. Oh well. >_>
ok I'm probably retarded, but I still can't figure out some things. 1. whats the difference between a texture and model? 2. whats the difference between a .pac and .pcs?
what do these files do? fitIke0#.pac fitike0#.pcs fitike.pac
If I understand correctly, the one without a number is supposed to be the moveset. But which one is the thing that makes the sword trace red?
1. A texture is the most basic editable part of Brawl. Textures are generally every visible design, color, or picture found on a character, stage, menu, etc. (For example, on characters, there are generally separate textures for clothes, skin, hair, armor/accessories, eyes, face, etc.) Models are the actual 3D figures that the textures are located on. A character model is usually edited through vertex hacking. (For example, Cloud over Ike has edited hair, an enlarged sword, etc.) Models and textures are both located in the FitCharacter##.pac/.pcs files.
2. A .pcs file is simply a compressed .pac file. The .pac file is used to load the transforming characters and in the single player modes. .pcs files are used in normal matches. For all characters, it's important to have the .pcs file. The .pac file is only needed for transforming characters (listed in the OP) or if you want to have the texture/model visible in other modes besides the normal one.
3. You are correct. The FitIke.pac is the moveset (PSA) file. It also makes the sword trace red, since that is part of the PSA.
Added two new sections near the end detailing how to downgrade your Wii and what to do if a game or channel requires you to update your Wii. I also put some of the reference lists into spoilers to reduce the size of the post.
dont know if anyone has anwered this yet but the download RSBP01 doesnt work lol smiley face looked funny :3 it says invalede or deleted file could i get a link to a file that works?
Reuploaded the file. I don't know why it stopped working, but whatever. It should be fixed now.
:srs:The Parition download is just giving me a bunch of ads when I hit download
That's because you need Mediafire Pro to download the entire folder. Don't worry about doing that. Go into the folder and download only the files that you need.
I tried updating to a new SD card with more space. I am, in fact, running out of space on mine.
I got an 8 GB SD that is, in fact, compatible with Homebrew. The list said so, so I believed that everything Homebrew uses should be compatible as well.
Everything seems fine until it applies SD codes through Gecko. It SAYS it's applying the codes, but nothing is changed when Brawl actually starts.
All I'm asking is the name of an SD card I can simply order online. One that's larger than 2GB that works perfectly fine for Gecko OS. If one exists, that is.
EDIT: Okay, so apparently I can only use Riivolution for cards larger than 2 GB? If true, how exactly do I go about that for Brawl? Sorry in advance if I'm being a pain.
If you want to use an SDHC (more than 2 GB) Card, you'll have to use Riivolution instead of Gecko OS.The instructions for using Riivolution are in the first post. You'd use it just as you would use it for any other SD Card.
Question: I'm moving from Gecko to Riivolution so that I may replace the SSBB intro with Star Wars Alpacas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gZ0x8AVaBI). I read that the some files need to be named differently, and I was just wondering, which files that I have would I have to rename for them to work? Is it just the ones in the menu folders, or do I have to add "_en" to all of my files? I replace stages, fighter .pac's, fighter .pcs's, and music. The usual.
Also: now that I have a program that can replace the cinematics, what folder do I put the files in and what do I rename them? I can't find anything on that. O_o
It's a microcenter, and the only card I have below 2 gigs. :<
You might want to try using Riivolution instead of Gecko OS. You won't have to use the File Patch code, only Riivolution. The guide to setting it up is in the first post. Also, Riivolution will work with SDHC (Bigger than 2 GB) cards, although you won't be able to save replays, snapshots, or stages to your SD card from Brawl while you're using it. (You can just launch Brawl normally if you want to move replays, snapshots, and stages to your SD (not SDHC) card though.)
Okay. I did that and went into training and it worked! So i go to brawl to take some photos and it freezes and whines again. :I any idea now?
What kind (brand) of SD Card are you using? Do you have any other SD Card that you could try, just to see if it's your SD Card that's causing the problem?
Anything less than 2 GB should be fine. Try backing up everything on your SD Card to your computer and then formatting it by following the instructions in the first post of this thread.
I fixed both of those, and it still freezes and whines everytime at the map select. I just can't see what I've done wrong.
What file are you trying to use? Do you have any other hacks besides the character files?
No, it's just that file. I had one for zero suit samus, but that had two files and two files is way too complicated.
It currently resides in F:\private\wii\app\RSBE\pf\Fighter\Ness\FitNess00.pcs
Specifically, what file is it? There might be something wrong with the file that's causing the freezing. Did you download it from BrawlVault? The location of the file is correct, and even if it wasn't, the game wouldn't freeze, it would just not load the file. Does the game freeze without hacks on? What hacks do you have? Just the File Patch code?
