1  Super Smash Bros. 4 Hacking / Smash 4 (Wii U) Hacking / Re: Smash Wii U Research and Development Thread (Testing possible! Coders needed!) on: August 18, 2016, 11:13:11 AM
Hopefuly, this isn't too late: https://twitter.com/Dead_MK/status/758815715654635521

If we can import animations from Brawl, doesn't that mean we can make custom ones in Brawl THEN import them into Sm4sh?

We're still trying to figure out how to port Brawl animations onto a smash4 skeleton without some rotations ending up being +-360 for no real reason that we can come up with.

3  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Model Imports / Re: [General] Custom made models on: May 30, 2016, 10:26:34 PM
Nice job! I'd like to update with my custom models, but summer classes along with commitments I've made with Smash4 is getting in the way.
Nice job singlehandedly keeping this thread alive.

Anyway, I did check out GameBanana, but some users at GBAtemp.net stated that it wasn't a good place,

Dont know who said that, but gamebanana is fine. At least for now. Even now, aside from smashexplorer, animcmd, param editor (and probably msbteditor) dont have guis. I dont expect modding to grow that large without something that people lacking in knowledge will be able to understand.

It's funny, I was just about to bring this up.
I'd be scared if they add BrawlEx to Smash 4.

Does Smash 4 even really need another BrawlEx? Is there a point where character expansion is forced to stop, not counting simple storage limitations? 100? 255?

Theoretically we could have as many characters as the fan roster pictures that they had for Brawl, and it's no joke. We haven't actually tested the limit. Off the top of my head (because I don't remember) I think the number was in the thousands.

You sure?

I remember Brawl having already a TON of textures and even some neat PSAs just one year after the release...

Considering that, Smash 4 is taking forever.

Tbf we already have cbliss. We haven't looked into animation swaps ATM but that would help open up PSA making a ton. Otherwise all we can do is make more marth and dark pit clones

Finally figured out how to get everything I want. Thanks Nano. For Sm4shExplorer to read the update, you just need to chose the update folder (which will have the three folders). You should also have the two big archive files and the ls file in the content folder for it to be read.

Also, I'll ask here, because I want to make sure I get an answer.

Been having TexID problems (model turns a weird red), so I decided to use that Python script to fix it. Is it supposed to lag the computer hard when running? It's pretty annoying that it slows down my computer to pretty much frozen.

Not in my experience. It usually takes a few seconds at most, which could also be attributed to my laptop itself.

Could you give specific instructions as to how you set up Python and eventually ran the py file?

well 5.4.0 for a long time had kernel and everything like 5.3.2, im still on 5.3.2 and i see no reason to go to 5.5.1 yet since nothing is exclusive to 5.5.1 as off now.

5.4 had kernel? Never mind then lol. I was probably thinking of 5.5.0
9  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: WIP PSA Workshop on: May 06, 2016, 10:38:58 PM
I was wondering, does anyone know if it's possible to make sword trails opaque, like Cloud's in Sm4sh? I need to for my PSA.

This isn't a request thread. This thread is for showcasing what you've done on a mod so far.

Bring back the Poke-Trainer D=

er, I mean... Switch "Rock Smash" with "Flare Blitz" on Zard.. I keep doing the wrong damn moves

Pretty sure that's impossible both in the realm of brawl and in smash4 solely because of float points being a thing.

Is this kernel exploit for FW 5.5.0 and 5.5.1 only, or can it also work for FW 5.4.0?  Either way, this is some great news!

If you're on 5.4.0 there's no reason not to update to 5.5.1
12  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: The Waluigi PSA. Finally Released! on: May 04, 2016, 01:25:19 AM
I don't know if you're aware but Nebulon's pack had a pretty cool final smash where Waluigi would beat up the opponent and then throw a bomb at him. For that reason, I like Nebulon's modification (I think it was his) better than the newest PSA. If the final smash is being worked on I'm glad to hear that!

That was the old one and it was discarded for a good reason.
We're still working on it.

I'll make some tutorials on vertex and texture editing/injecting tomorrow.

so remind me again why it's acceptable for major transformative hacks to be made for Brawl yet not for Sm4sh

oh wait bitter melee hate lol

There's nothing stopping you. Some people around the internet don't like it for various reasons. Some people around the internet love the idea.

That's all there is to it.

This really isn't the place to be asking questions. GBATemp, as difficult as it is, is the best place to ask atm. Or maybe if soneek shows up, but he can't FAQ for everything.

Just to reiterate, wade through GBATemp and you might be able to find an answer there.
