I'm not saying that the good folks that run and maintenance BrawlVault to go in THEMSELVES and determine what version of Brawl each and every minute hack can/can't manage, but a simpler solution like maybe in a future update to BrawlVault..whether its a cosmetic update or a routine maintenance, add an area in the options for a user when they upload their hack that designated what version the hack is/isn't compatible with.
It would then be up to the previous hack uploaders themselves to determine if they want to go in and update their posts or not, but at least the new guys can come in and place their hack in whatever category since it will already be built into the uploading interface
PM has character specific codes, codes that require certain extra cosmetics in certain areas and files, and has a slightly different variable usage system meaning anything that would rock the boat(Specifically certain character PSAs, Costume Hacks and Models that disable bones and Cosmetic Assets that don't use PM's version of said asset as a base ) is almost guaranteed to malfunction and/or crash.
This guy gets it. I made the post because I fell victim to exactly what he's talking about. I downloaded a Sonic vertex hack that's supposed to have him look like the Smash U version and it gave me a silent freeze, amongst other hacks that I tried and failed.
Perhaps in the area where Link, Profile, RSS Feed and so on, maybe a stamp or designation letting everyone know that the accompanying hack is fully compatible with Project M?
Or hell, to make it even more efficient, a stamp letting us know what "version" of Brawl it was created on and all the different versions the hack should be compatible with?
I'm slightly confused...how does this work exactly? Does it expand the color selection of each character? On the character select screen will the additional slots show up if you go to them and will it be compatible with Project M?
Yo South, quick question...can you take the Attack Dash for Wario and turn it into his actual Run animation? Its just a request...I tried replacing it with the Attack Dash but in game it looks choppy and doesn't loop like its supposed to. Could you do this request for me or tell me how to do it myself?
Oh god I approve of that Wario you're tinkering on....a few questions my good man...
1.) At 0:27 that run animation would be perfect for his actual dash. I also love the fact you changed his weird walk to his actual jog from the Wario Land games
2.) Will you be changing the Down B special? It looks like you're going for the Wario Land style so im guessing you will get rid of the fart?
3.) Are you planning to resize him and lengthen his arms and legs a little to have him closer to the WL games?
Hey Aether you should get the Project M guys to help you with this, they made a perfect Side B, Down Smash and changed some of his normals to make him more Wario Land-like..it seems like their version is somewhat what you're aiming for?
Walk animation 0:03, 2:30 mark can be a new dash animation, 3:00, Down B special replacement. Works the exact same as Waft. Fiery explosion on the ground (Think Roy fully powered Flare Blade gfx) following by devastating jumping headbutt
Is there a way to take the character movesets and play with them in your own Brawl? Im using Beyond You's Riivolution and I tried using movesets from some of the Project M characters but the physics would seem a little off and their moves wouldn't work well, some would enter T-stance or the PSA animation would play the original move animation with effects of the PSA, like for example Bowser's Koopa Klaw would still play the Flying Slam animation but he wouldn't jump in the air with them....anyone know anything?
Will you guys alter the original CPU A.I to match new moves for some of the characters that had those changes? I play alone a lot in free for alls and it would suck to have the CPU kill itself because of a new move replacing one they originally had, that they aren't programmed to use efficiently?
Hey SDoOM, did you guys make any extra changes to the characters that you all haven't listed on the P:M website? Also did you or any of the mods have the chance to check my post for Wario? As I stated in it, its just an idea..I don't know anything about PSA'ing but the concept seems simple, its just a animation change with accompanying sfx and such but the original move properties and such remain the same, I was just looking on some feedback to see if it would be a good idea or not
In defense of Project M and its team, I like the fact that these guys came together to craft something for the Melee fanatics, the transition from Melee to Brawl was a pretty harsh one, character balancing-wise so I get that. On the other hand, I kinda agree with Velen...I kinda envisioned it to be like a Melee atmosphere but with character balancing all across the board, not just remaking certain characters into their former selves while everyone else tweaked to match up with them.
One thing that resonated strongly with me was how some characters got buffs and moveset tweaks that were very much needed without the atmosphere of Melee...seeing Wario take on his Wario Land style and Ike gaining much needed tweaks like the many uses of Quickdraw, Ness getting his PK Thunders a much needed boost...stuff like that, is awesome and I actually wish that I could use these fixes in all the different types of Brawl we have released without the physics being tied specifically to Melee.
I don't wanna sound like im complaining because an individual can take that and feel unappreciated and step away from releasing hacks publicly, I can't do what these guys did and its dope that they are attempting to make something new or different. But anyways, that just my two cents.
