Thanks. That's actually a lot of my inspiration now. Just looking back at the old days when all we could do was texture hack, I want to remind folks you can still do awesome hacks with textures alone.

Are you still working on Vibrants Shun? Or did you already finish Vibrants for every character?
Just having trouble getting time to take screens and upload. Wario is literally the only one not done (and by "not done", I mean I have one or two costumes left to adjust). I just have to upload the remaining folks and I'm done.

Honestly, been working on some new stuff. Textures for characters who don't normally get textures, new texture ideas, and some other stuff. Hang tight. I should be putting stuff out this week-end for sure.

I actually hadn't expected any discussion on my comment. I was really just reflecting on what we had done and thinking on some of the things we shouldn't have done. Hind-sight is 20/20 they say.

That said,  this project is all but finished now and it is what it is. I doubt my saying this will change anything (and I'm not too concerned on if it does or not). I'm proud of what we did, but I like to heavily reflect on what we did and what we could have done better. The alts situation, is one of them.

My biggest concern is when two people do their own versions of "twin" characters. For example, when one does Marioband the other does Luigi. If their is design is extremely different I feel as though it seems less official. This is my opinion, I'm sorry if it may have offended anyone.
On the flip-side, if Mario and Luigi's designs are too similar, it becomes difficult to tell them apart.

this is the fox I'm happiest about.
Almost missed this. I assume you want to roll with this design, so here are some tips to help you balance it out and have it look nice.

- Desaturate the jacket sleeves by about 40 points so they look like his jacket is flipped. You have it done in the second picture, however, so match that if you haven't already.

- Brighten up the dark so it's more 80% gray rather than pitch black. This should return the detail to the armor plates and improve the over-all look.

- Darken the white so it's more 40% gray so it isn't so bright on certain stages. Brawl handles white colors oddly, so it's typically safer to go with a darker color than what looks right on your monitor.

- On his shirt, the small v-like portion just underneath his scarf would look nice if it was the same dark-gray as the armor plates, IMO.

- You may want to make the visor violet as well. It looks a tad out of place blue.

- A potential design swap, is to make the boots and gloves black (80% gray), while making the armor plates violet. You can make the boots trim along the bottom violet as well if you go with this type of design.

I think your current design has merit, but hopefully these tips give you a few ideas.

I tried Shun_One's suggestions and I think it's alright. But, somethings missing (and i don't just mean the logos) Would anyone else say it's going the right direction?

You are headed in the right direction. The patterned coat is an interesting idea. Here's a few more suggestions:

- Consider making the shoes the same color as his coat fur.

- You may want to tone down the brightness of his kimono's white trim. It's a bit hard on the eyes at the moment. Adjusting it by about 20-40 points should do.

- Don't forget to apply the skin color swap to his blink textures. I'm sure you're aware of this though.

- What you deem "missing" is the pattern on his stomach is too simple and makes the entire design uninteresting to look at. Consider copying over-vBrawl-Purple Dedede's girdle pattern, but swapping the gold lines to white.

I don't think we need any more alternates, and I'm itching to remove as many of them from the project as possible. What we should've done, is instead of offering a myriad of choices, just pick one design to use and if someone had another, just release it stand-alone and mention it was made for this project but didn't make it into the pack.

The amount of alternates we have in here is probably one of the things I regret the most.


And as for next projects, well, I'm already on another one aside from the one I'm about to wrap up, but if I see one of these that strikes a cord with me, I'll hop in.

Man, non of you pull any punches huh.
This is better than the first attempt.

- Tone down the white. The way it is now is too bright, and kind of hard on the eyes after a while. It takes some getting used to, but give it a shot.

- I was going to say this before, but I was too late. You may actually want to shift the color of Dedede's skin to a more purple side so it doesn't stand out as much.

- Lastly, I see you removed your grid pattern from his girdle(?). You can try to use it if you like, the trick is to make the grid itself stand out without clashing with the rest of him.

Welcome hungry folk! I'm Shun_One, but feel free to call me Shun. In here you'll find plenty of pancakes to sate your appetite.

...Actually, you'll just find a bunch of textures and stuff that I've put together for my own personal use. I'll be constantly updating as I make stuff for myself, so keep an eye out. I'm on the road to imrpovement so if you've got some feed-back, spill it!

For the most part, I'm solely a texture guy, but I dabble into sfx, HUDs, and menu edits on occasion. Got an interesting idea? Drop it by me. No guarantee's I'll use it, but it's always good to hear what other folks are thinking about.

I do have some plans to revamp some of my old stuff, so keep a sharp eye. I'll mention it when I do, but for the most part I'll just do things stealthily at my own pace. If you see something you like, have a concern, or just want to chat a bit, do drop a comment off.

Or don't comment. That's fine too.

It's smaller, meaning a faster download and people who use common5 can simply replace the file with BrawlBox.
