1  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Brawl Vault Problems, Updates, and Suggestions on: January 10, 2013, 10:13:15 AM
What I meant to say was that this is not the section to ask that stuff. The forum is organized with a section for requests, one for help, one for showcasing mods, etc. Nothing you can really do about it if people's not interested in your Request thread.
Ok.  Thanks then.

BNuge, requests are requests. Nothing you can do about it if no one's willing to do it. This, though, isn't a Problem of the Brawl Vault, so it does not belong here.
My bad.  Where is the best place to ask if not the site that hosts the mods?  I don't mean to sound rude by that.  I just can't think of an overly polite way to phrase it.
3  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Project Mewtwo - The Official KC-MM Thread! on: January 09, 2013, 10:58:46 AM
that uses a marth .rel. and was a luigi hack. im currently working with PhantomWings to make a lucario .rel

Sounds good.  Pretty much everything with the one I have is good in my opinion except the Side B could be better and the neutral B can't be fully charged and ignores reflectors.  The Final is the same as the one pictured in this hack in the middle picture-

Only difference is the Mewtwo one is more purplish than bluish.

Can someone make a rel file so I can have it over Ness?  A file does already exist, but it's for an outdated PSA, so I don't know if the same rel file will work.

5  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: Ran into an issue on: December 06, 2012, 10:34:27 AM
Do you have a menu hack? That could be the cause of what's freezing...

I do, but I've had it since I first started and it's never caused an issue.

That happened to me when the hacks first started working. After a while I gave up and later tried again and it loaded. Does your Wii get really hot quickly, when mine gets hot it freezes like that, when the hacks are used.

It sometimes gets hot fast.  I'm thinking of using a previous backup to try to get it to work.
6  Help & Tutorials / Help / Ran into an issue on: December 05, 2012, 06:31:10 PM
On monday I was playing hacked Brawl at my college.  Today when we went to play, it wouldn't work.  I didn't even take the memory card out between monday and today, so I don't know what went wrong.

BootMii ran normally.  Homebrew opened normally.  Gecko launched normally.  The strap menu was changed to a buffer menu a while ago.  That worked fine.  The opening movie started.  The screen that displays at the end of the movie appeared as it always does.  As soon as you press Start during the movie the screen turns black (it's supposed to) and the game just freezes.  We also tried letting the movie run and then press A at the title screen.  The screen turns white (supposed to), then freezes.

We ended up trying to run Smash Bros without mods by just using the Wii Menu and running the game.  Everything worked perfectly, so it's definitely related to the hacking.  I just have no idea what could have caused it.  Any ideas at all?
7  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: SD Card Question on: November 23, 2012, 12:46:49 PM
Well, how SmashStack runs is by pretty much running whatever Boot.elf is in the root of the SD card.

What SmashStack does for Brawl Hacking is by causing the Boot.elf to be Gecko OS or Riivolution, which allows the hacks to run but installs nothing.

If you're asking if you can run Brawl hacks on a Wii without installing anything, yes, that's very possible. My and my friends run Project M off our school's unmodded Wii all the time using SmashStack.

If you want to actually install the Homebrew Channel, its as simple as changing the boot.elf to be that of the Homebrew Channel installer.

Did that answer your questions? I don't know if I understood them fully.

Not really.  He wants Homebrew and hacked Brawl.  I want to know if it's possible to have the SmashStack files and hacked Brawl files together on the same SD card and have everything work.  Meaning the hacked Brawl files will be on the SD card while Homebrew is installed using SmashStack and hacked Brawl will run while the SmashStack files are still on the SD card.  It would be so much easier if I only had to give him one of my SD cards since anything less than 4GB is kind of a pain to find nowadays.
8  Help & Tutorials / Help / SD Card Question on: November 23, 2012, 12:20:13 PM
I asked about this on the SmashStack forums, but I figure I can also check here.

My friend goes to college a few hours away from me and doesn't really know enough to run hacked Brawl himself. Coincidentally, the Wii he plans to use is at his college and currently does not have Homebrew on it.

Is it possible to have SmashStack and the Brawl hacking files on the SD card at the same time and have everything work?

Ex. Homebrew installs while the Brawl hacking files (from Kitty Corp) are on the SD card.
Ex. After Homebrew is installed, the hacked Brawl will run normally while SmashStack is still on the SD card.

Are those two examples true?
9  Help & Tutorials / Help / monitor.exe? on: September 21, 2012, 10:08:50 AM
I tried to install the Autodesk 3DS Max free version for students.  During the installation process, a box popped up that told me I needed to close something.  It said monitor.exe was running and it must be closed to complete the installation.

I have no clue what that is or how to close it.  My professor isn't familiar with this issue.  Any ideas?

P.S. I'm also posting this on the Vizzed forum.

I Get the same problem every time you try to edit common3.pac it just freezes O_o
I Have asked like 2-4 time but i still don't know Shocked

I've edited common3 before (just replacing brres files with other ones from Brawl Vault).  The issue I ran into was I tried to just wing it and see what happens.  I didn't expect it to lock up at the strap menu.

I have a basic idea of how to fix my issue though.  I think I have to play with the bones.  Joy.

What have you tried to edit?

Not sure how often these are read..i need some help with some questions
1)As far as i could tell theres 2 main types of hacks skins and psa, from my reading it seems like u cant play online with psas and certain skins does that mean you cant play at all if someone on ur roster has those skins or u cant chose a char with a modded skin.
2)I have seen a few different mod setups which is the best I just want to be able to play with friends online.
3)Do the skins that dont disconect you show then?
4)It seemed like a PSA replaces a character because i saw things like naruto/scizor over X im assuming that means you can no longer play that character its over?
I think thats all for now thanks im brand new hopefully I can buy my sd card tomorrow to start trying it out

Edit/What size sd card X) thanks again

PSAs are alternate movesets.  Textures just make the character look different.  Some PSAs just modify a character's attacks like making Samus's fire attacks do Ice damage instead.  Others completely change the character such as turning Toon Link into Skull Kid with a completely different moveset.  A texture is something like making Marth look exactly like Lyndis without changing his attacks.  The only difference is appearance.

Just so you know, you can mix them.  If you put a PSA on Marth that changes a few of his moves (such as making them a bit stronger), then you could still put a Lyn texture over Marth.

1. I don't use wifi, so I can't help you much there.  I do know that some mods say they are wifi tested and safe, so you can look for those.  The ones that don't say it are usually "maybes" as far as I know.

2. I use Brawl Plus with Gecko and it runs nicely.  Again, I can't help much with wifi issues.

3. Can't help you.

4. As I said before, some PSAs just alter a few attacks, while others change the character completely.  If Toon Link is changed to Skull Kid, then that means Toon Link was completely replaced with Skull Kid.  As long as Skull Kid is in the game, it's impossible to play as Toon Link.

There is one exception to that rule.  rel files.  Mewtwo is a good example.

Mewtwo is designed to go over Lucario.  But some people liked Lucario, so they decided to put Mewtwo with his new moveset over Ness.  This can only work if they also make something called a rel file.  Without that file, the game locks up as soon as it tries to spawn Mewtwo in a match.  I don't know enough people here to recommend anyone, but if you really want to replace a character with a character other than the default (Mewtwo over Ness instead of Lucario), you'd need to get someone to make a rel file for it.  Just a fun fact.

I believe the best size is 2GB.  I've heard that more than that can crash the game.

Two questions.

I tried to change the WarpStar to the Triforce.  One thing led to another and I finally figured out that I need to change it to a triangular shape instead of a star.  Any idea how to do that?

Also, I wanted to put a Pokémon over Mr. Saturn.  I expanded the ItmCommonBrres in the common3 file in BrawlBox, expanded ItmDoseisanBrres, and replaced ModelData0 and TextureData0 with files I took directly from a Pokémon PAC file.  By my uneducated logic, it should have worked.  Instead of working, the game froze at the Strap Menu.  I went back and restored the common3 backup that I had made right before switching Saturn out for a Pokémon and the game worked.  Any idea what I can do to make this work?

Done.  Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Thanks.

One other thing I just noticed.  This PSA was reported for being PAL only-

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=24685

Even if it was made for PAL it still works on my US version.  It's just kinda glitchy and missing a lot of attacks.  I'm not sure if that's a side effect of it being a different region or if it's just in beta stage.

I just wanted to bring up an inaccurate report of a WarioMan texture.  I PM'd Vyse and he told me to post here.  Here's a slightly modified version of the message I sent him.

This WarioMan skin was mistakenly reported-

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=7030

The user who created it hasn't been active for over two years, so he's obviously not going to argue it.

The thing about WarioMan is that his skins need to go in a "warioman" folder rather than the regular "wario" folder.  If it gets put in the "wario" folder, it will cause all of the described glitches.  I tested it in the "warioman" folder with Gecko and it worked perfectly.

It's just a shame to see an inaccurate report on a good texture.  Any chance someone could remove that report?
14  Help & Tutorials / Programming Tutorials / Re: How to get Alloys on your wii (not over a character) on: July 27, 2012, 08:52:39 PM
Last post was in September, so that's necro-posting, but I'll bump the thread so you don't get warned

*bump*

And thanks, glad it could help Smiley

Yeah I questioned it, but I thought it might be okay rather than starting a new topic to respond to this one.  Any idea how complicated it would be to add the Alloys (see my previous post)?
15  Help & Tutorials / Programming Tutorials / Re: How to get Alloys on your wii (not over a character) on: July 27, 2012, 04:08:29 PM
I already have a CSS with Zelda/Sheik separated, Samus/ZSS separated, Pokémon Trainer and each of his Pokémon separated (so there are 4 total slots- normal trainer, squirtle alone, ivysaur alone, charizard alone).... I think that's it.  I got the file from one of my friends, so I don't know what exactly he did.

Point is I want to add the alloys to the stuff I already have.  I've been looking around trying to figure out how to do this.
