Do you have any PSDs? That'd be the best way to help people out with recoloring! If you set it up the same way Smash 3 does, anyway. Either way, PSDs would be very useful! Also, I'd love to try and set up a render of her if possible, I'd just need a pose that's not the default FE:A artwork pose because that's probably been done a million times, and one that'd fit CSPs.
Actually, the Tharja color for Lucina had an alternate emblem as well, being the three eyes that are present on Robin's coat sleeves, except they matched the cape's color rather than being purple.
As for the alternate emblems, I agree with Nao, most of the people her colors were based on were from Ylisse, with the exception of Cherche (who didn't get an alternate emblem), Tharja, and Tiki.
The muscle definition was something I considered doing, but honestly, I don't know how to pull it off on the model itself, with all its wonky mapping. I had to do some major UV editing to get things looking even remotely correct. As for his leg texture, the texture itself is the same size as the original Mar02 (256 x 256). That's why it doesn't look quite as good as the arms in the render.
The Smash 4 color based off of her had a pretty nice touch to her textures, involving her cape emblem:
It might be a nice touch for yours as well! The thing is, of course, mirrored on the Smash 4 model (and is present on both the Wii U and 3DS variations).
While I'm posting here, I remembered that I had a decent Fire Emblem Brawl thing that I've been working on:
He'll be released when the newest Smash 3 Marth is, for those of you want a good alt of Marth to go alongside his revamped look.
How'd you get the normals on the diffuse like this?
A repost from one I made in the WIP Workshop thread:
For anyone looking to import the Smash U models, I figured out a nice way to get the diffuse textures looking good.
Here's a sample. I'm using Marth's tunic texture:
Original texture:
Edited:
Here is my process (Photoshop only): First off, copy the normal map to the original texture. If the normal map is larger than the texture, adjust the diffuse texture's size to match the dimensions of the normal map, hopefully using the Nearest Neighbor filter under Image Size. Select the normal map's pixels, make a new layer and fill with White. Change the layer to have the Overlay effect, then select the normal map's pixels again. Invert the selection, make a new layer under the white-filled layer, and fill it with black. This one doesn't need a layer effect. Adjust the transparency of the two layers as needed, and there you go! Oh, and don't forget to either delete or hide the normal map. Also keep in mind: THIS DOES NOT WORK WELL WITH SKIN TEXTURES.

so yeah, public anouncement here, it's been a long time since i "discontinued" my work on robin... and i actually feel bad about this, mainly because it wasn't only my project...
so yeah, right now im working on a few fixes our collab needed, namely, giving the inner part of the coat a separate texture, and fixing some minor mapping issues.
Sounds good! I changed up a few things and fixed some mapping already, want me to go ahead and send you everything?
robin looks awesome will you be making his tomes with a bone set and bones for the pages lol it's makes it easier to make a psa for him lol but never the less good job
I don't really think I'll be doing anything with tomes, sorry. Seeing as my motivation for SSBB modding is hanging by a thread anymore (thread being Smash 3, Lucina, and finishing Robin's model). I just want Robin done and over with. Besides, I'll need all the space I can get for Robin, and a likely 256x256 texture for a needless prop that has no function on Marth's default moveset isn't really a priority. I was considering adding spec maps for the robe as well, but at this point, I'll leave anything extra to other people.
Very sorry if I come off as rude; it's not intentional. I only want Robin out of the way at last.
I decided to get back to work on this while I was waiting for things to happen, and thanks to Smash 4's trophy, I was able to do my first 100%(ish) custom hair model! He also now uses the latest Levin Sword model that I made originally for Skyrim, since it looks infinitely better than the crappy other one. The coat, apart from the hood, and the boot cover things were also made by Jokekid. The pants are in need of some serious remapping, and were taken from Skyward Sword Link. I also still need to redo a lot of texture things, namely the size of the eyes on his sleeves and fixing up the hood.
It seems Smash 4 has halted progress after all, haha. I know this was mentioned before, but do you guys still plan to keep Brawl (/P:M) modding now that the next game in the series has been released?
For the team I'm on, yes, and I will continue Lucina with Vert unless he's decided to quit. Other than that, I have no plans to continue, except for maybe personal things.
Also, on that note, I think I'm going to limit Lucina's weapons to be Falchion and then an optional Shield of Seals, who knows if my motivation will hold with all those weapons PLUS her mask versions, haha.
Literally. Some of the stuff that didn't work made no sense. And when it did work, we still didn't know why it was working.
Whoa, sounds kind of like how my V1 of Robin kept turning out, from before he was announced for SSB4... Chrom looks -amazing- though, and three times better than how my older Robin came out. Hopefully you'll be able to fix him up! If I could help in any way, I would, but I'm not sure what I could do.
Awesome work on the Fire Emblem! The falchion overall looks good too, but the handle looks too blocky and low poly. Think you could fix it? And here's more progress from Lucina:
I'll try to finish her this weekend. I'll reshape the arms, remap the belts, make the missing hair pieces, improve a bit the hair texture, lower the amount of polygons on the cape and make the collar of her undershirt.
Sure! Er, what part of it? Would it be the actual handle, or the guard? The guard would be harder to fix (UVs are a nice cause for table flips sometimes), but the handle? That'd be easy. Lucina is looking -very- nice, as well! Hopefully we get to see her ingame before SSB4 hits.
....That is still the best Chrom model I've ever seen. I really hope you're able to get to releasing him, it looks WAY too good to be not-released! Wait, did you do a version of him in his default outfit as well? Memory seems to fail me as to which one I saw in the Workshop... Might I be able to get it sometime, if it goes unreleased? I have a few games that need a Chrom in them.
Regarding the idea of Shadow Dragon Marth using that shield, note that the Shield of Seals looked completely different 2000 years before Awakening. It looks very nice, though. It would be awesome on a hypothetical Master Lord Chrom.
Yup. I just had better references of the Shield in its Awakening style, and I thought it'd be more recognizable to newer Fire Emblem fans. Not to mention, the design on the not-Awakening shield would have been ridiculous to pull off, at least for me.
I admit that it would be really cool! But... Well... You decide, I guess.
All right, all right. I suppose I can see if I can fit her with it. Would you guys rather have it than other sword choices, or both? I think I'll only have her wield it while she has Falchion (both versions), since it looks best with that sword.
Actually, Shadow Dragon Marth in Dissidia, over Warrior of Light. I decided to make him the shield to go alongside Falchion, rather than giving him no shield at all.
