1  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Trying my best to come back to modding on: January 06, 2024, 02:58:30 PM
I want to come back but, I have to break down that wall and get back into the grove of modding again. But then there's that thought of trying to be compatible with ProjectM or whatever massive wacky but useful build that everyone's using and I think I have to get onboard with that when I don't want to. Then there's this annoying issue I may have to keep going through with importing to Brawlbox from Blender.

I've been playing with my brawl mods lately and made a couple adjustments to my old mods for more fun. There's also my main hobby on my DeviantArt page which was greatly inspired by my Brawl modding over the years...

I do have an unfinished brawl mod project that I started some time ago and I need to finish it.
It's hard to keep doing anything when you don't have any words of motivation. So I've been keeping at my Hero's Universe project for years but, still not a lot of people really acknowledges it regardless of how good it looks now. But I still work hard at it to bring out interesting stories but then when it's time to share those images and people that follow my Deviantart, not a lot of them really acknowledge it and makes me unwilling to do anything else because, this is what I'm good at and I want it to work.

I'm not forcing anyone to do anything but, I live for words of feedback and motivation and that will fuel me to do more things. I get that from just one of my followers and it's so depressing after years of working together. I'm grateful for it but, life is flying by and it's time that I want more people to recognize me. (Else I might drop everything that got me started on modding and my Hero's Universe project and never get to move on in that part of my life.)

Anyway, one day I may try to make mods for Smash Ultimate. I just need some partners to work with to test mods. But if anything, I may need to try Sm4sh and get comfortable with it.

If I'm able to upload something to the vault (Whenever the vault issue is fixed) there may be more mods...maybe mods not everyone will download...most of my mods may not be convenient according to certain builds.

Yeah, something is definitely wrong on your end. I've been running BrawlEX just fine since day one on USB Loader.

As for your reasons for the way you rig, they're valid. No need to be on the defensive. I just think it's kind of a waste to use your time to rig a character (it definitely takes a while if you're doing a quality rig) for it to only work with one moveset.

EDIT: Project M also works with USB Loader (but you need to know how to adapt it since the creators meant for it to be played with the disc always). Anyway, you CAN use stuff from it even if you can't play it...

Ya know...I've been doing this for a long time and haven't got any complaints about my imports about it being for one moveset and I know what quality rigging takes. I'm gonna re-rig the dark samus model without any bone edits and see what I come up with. (I don't understand why would anyone would use any older dark samus models though...Ultimate dark samus isn't even high poly)

BrawlEx doesn't work for you on a USB loader? Being in Australia, that's my only option to do Brawl stuff on console, and I'd got it working with BrawlEx, what issue do you have with it?

Probably won't matter because I know I may have file size or memory size issues. So I don't bother. I tried to do CBliss one time, couldn't even get anything to show up or work. I'm just not too wild about stuff like that. I also know there's a memory expansion code somewhere...

Well, YOU can do. But people who download your model won't be able to use with whichever moveset they want.

I'm quite sure that you can change translations on the animation file itself, so there's hardly need to alter the basic skeleton rig, unless of course the model is going to be ONLY specific for that PSA (like Mewtwo has a modified Lucario skeleton to suit the moveset better), in which case if anyone ever wants that model over the basic Lucario skeleton they have, well... to basically re-do the rigging.

Well, I was planning to have it over the top downloaded dark samus PSA anyway since no one really cares right now. I have a certain style in modding and if some people can't deal with it, well shame on me for being different. I just really HATE editing the models to fit the original skeleton. I'm all about high quality mods.

It's like this: I really like what I'm seeing from the Classic Ridley moveset...Too bad it's for BrawlEX. I can't use BrawlEX because I use USBLoader GX to play my custom build since my Wii disc drive is no longer working. I don't complain about not having that moveset for VBrawl. So I keep the old sluggish moveset that's over Pit. A lot of other people don't use or can't use Project M or BrawlEX for certain reasons which I don't know. There's some things I would like to have from BrawlEX or maybe PM...but can't get it because it won't work.

So deal with it...

Why would you do that? Editing the boneset, I mean. Well, sure, whatever floats your boat, but having a modified bone rig only makes it so your model won't work properly for any other PSA, and even the default movesets at vBrawl/PM.

Do you really not know that I can edit whatever animation file for any moveset to keep the bones looking proper? It's not gonna ruin anything...I do it all the time for most of my imports. Have you even downloaded at least one of my imports? Like Smash Ultimate Ridley?

This model's gonna have a few bone translation edits for fluid rigging (Get over it) and I need to know a good Dark Samus PSA to put it over. I'm still using an old one but I forgot who made it.

I'm tempted to make my rigs as fluid as I can.

So, I know this moveset for Ridley is outdated and kinda sucks but, c'mon...


I'm still using the recent Beta that's over pit.
Also having a few issues with ground animations because the T-posed boneset is kinda complicated.

It'd be nice if someone could port the latest ridley moveset over pit for VBrawl/USB Loader users.
This isn't for BrawlEx Ridley by the way...


Edit: Some ground animations ain't gonna do it...

I know very few little of you have downloaded my Kingdom Hearts Cloud port (Originally by Joe.T.E.) a while ago and probably wandering what happened to it.

I don't know why I waited so long to explain this. So true and honest story, I seriously didn't even know Joe had an account on this website since I never ever saw his name anywhere. So I uploaded it and then he noticed that I didn't ask for his permission. BUT! Sometime many months ago I actually did ask for the .DAE of the model on gamebanana.com saying that I would collab them on the mod! I have no proof of that now since I deleted that comment on the mod's page right after I discovered "SMASH FORGE".

I figured that my comment wouldn't get noticed anyway. So...when I aksed for the model to port into Brawl, I waited and waited months for a reply but nothing...I kinda hate when things like this happen. Im srs here When my entry got reported by the owner, I asked him if I was still able to keep the entry up even if I asked for his permission at that time...Still haven't heard from him. >_> Yeah, so I don't think anyone else will be getting this model.

Yeah, it's "JoeT.E.'s model from Smash Wii U. I have the hair a faces from my original import on this model to save a little rigging time there.

I've been unable to do anything modding related the past three and half months. Since about a week ago, I've been going back at it with a new computer. Thing is I don't have my "Resources" from my inaccessible hard drive of my old computer to do anything super advanced.

I mean I can still make some descent movesets occasionally, but if I want to get creative.....anyway!

What do you think of my latest moveset? does it need some more work? Should I do another one from the franchise?

I understand you loud and clear. Sure thing, I kind of wanna change my own background in my personal PM build.

Make sure you don't go overboard when choosing something high res like 512x512. You'll end up lowering other useless texture's resolutions to like...1x1 like I do just to have the background I want to not overwhelm the game. lol
