You could say I'm the creative director and Vyse is who I go to when my ideas need something that doesn't involve writing or basic admin panel operations. Making the fake admin panels from last year link to different URLs based on membersgroups was all Vyse, and I'm fairly certain I had to ask for help to insert the "invert images" script into the CSS as well.
The idea for the Family Thread 2013 was all Oizen, though:
Oizen: I think for April Fools we should make a new family thread Miacis: You sir, have the best ideas... (Should I?) Oizen: Yes. Miacis: I created a monster.
I remember there was one year where he turned people's avatars into furry versions. That was funny.
That was my first year and boy, did that take forever to prepare. The avatars are still online, btw, if you want to have a laugh at some of the sillier ones. Like KJP's.
It's not super elaborate in France either, aside from the physical prank aspect of things. But hey, it gives us an excuse to do really silly [censored] with this website, so it's worth it.
Generally at the last possible minute. I believe the last time something was prepared reasonably early was 2011.
Well, you still seem to have a few posts, so probably not a whole lot (Doom Trains reduce posts, not kittens). But staying near the top of the ranking is a good way to get knifed a bunch.
Speaking of, the Dirty Money and Knive of Persuasion+5 items have been restocked, you gangsters.
The proud owners of a Random Award have obtained their Random Award. As advertised, it is random, and will leave after a random amount of time. It's also incredibly difficult to tell the difference between the random award and the real things. I can't tell the difference.
All right, last refills for the night (my night, Europe timezone), as well as a bit of rebalance in prices and effects.
EDIT: A new item (Nice Cream) has been added which should be easy to afford for the poorer ones who want something more useful than a tree but don't post too often. It isn't super great on its own, but makes for a nice present. Anyone with tons of cats should focus on the more efficient Burgers, so that should leave a lot of Nice Creams for everyone else.
Knives were found a tad OP during the intense staff testing where all the Gmods were shanking each other until I ran out of knives 7 times. They are now a bit more rare and pricey. Wooden Signs were moved up in pricetags as well, seeing as they'd be the most bothersome to clean up if abused. Dirty Money is a bit more expensive, but will yield more kittens than before on average, and now there's a ton of them in stock. The Burger and Random Award were also moved up a little, but now the latter will last at least a whole week~
The award will arrive sometime tomorrow. Be sure to play nice and leave some articles to the others while I'm away~
Like the Knife and Train, you need to use the "Registered name" of the user (in their profile), not their display name. The problem with the Markers is that they'll say the change was successful even if you entered the display name (which likely does not belong to anyone). Likewise, the Knife will always fail if you target someone that does not exist.
The Communications Droid was updated with two new informative lines. Users who already purchased it should re-"Use" the item to see the hot new tips. Users who haven't purchased it and aren't sure where to start will find a good long-term investment in the Droid... I think.
It doesn't get deleted after it's used. Neither do the award nor the tree. On that note,
Surprise surprise, it's that time of the year again.
Howdy folks! Just wanted to let you all know that the KC-MM store is now open. There, you will be able to purchase wonderful prizes for the low low price of only a few hundred kittens! What are kittens you might ask? Why, they are charming little creatures that gather round you every time you post on the forums! Don't tell me you've never noticed.
Anyways, these exclusive items will not be available for long, so do make sure to grab a few while you still can! You can also trade valuable items in the Trade Center, or send gifts to others, to share the joy.
Staff members have a bit of a headstart as far as gathering kittens go (that how we become staff, actually), and there's no way for me to increase everyone's initial funds so... post away, and gather more kittens, gentlemen! Or ask kindly to those who have more cats than they have the need for.
Next year we'll set up a whole MMORPG at the rate things are going.
Well, we had a nice discussion with Spex, who voiced legitimate concerns and seemed satisfied by the way we had planned to handle things in general. As for the other active chatroom participants, they're currently part of the BV Staff room and we'll be discussing with them the finer subtleties that were brought up as they come up.
