Uhhh I think you guys were included in a large DDos attack that also damaged Smashboards, the Project M site thingy, and All is Brawl. Someone attacking must really dislike smash.
The Apex website too.
What's puzzling me is why we weren't included in the previous attack (back in August), but were for this one. There's been nothing big and new on here lately to motivate such a change, aside from the various Clone Engine shenanigans and I guess the incoming release of P:M 3.0. oô
Yeah, normally, you don't issue punishments like Warns and such for BV-related issues. But in this case, it is pretty obvious the guy was here for nothing but causing trouble.
I've removed his BV Reporting rights, and issued a 2-month ban to let him chill.
Whatever I want to drop this topic since the Vault needs other things added that won't ever get added(like a NSFW category).
You probably shouldn't rebound on the topic like that if you really want to drop the subject...
You asked about a new section just for PMBR's Mewtwo, I answered that there's no reason custom bonesets should each get their own section, no matter how "messy" their ports would end up being. Not to mention, if the boneset is only really working with the Mewtwo P:M moveset, I doubt all that many people will port models on it. At least not enough to justify a distinct section.
It's not even a matter of "don't have time" or "don't want" like a NSFW category. It's that the whole notion is honestly quite silly. Really, that's about it.
Because of this, depending on how popular PM gets, PM Mewtwo will eventually need it's own entry since nothing on the vault currently will work over PM M2.
Uhm... I don't think we're going to add new entries on BV for each model with a custom boneset. Unless I'm horribly misunderstanding something, it's a rather common process and I don't really see why PM's Mewtwo would deserve its own section for that?
Nano kinda just said he'd make a tut on how to fit Lucario models to that boneset, so...
Dunno who did the icy things on Samus's mode change, but he/she gets points for the crafty use of the frozen effects on the Side-Smash. I had to go back and check again because it almost looked like a new effect model.
Minus point for the re-introduction of Samus's glitchy SSBM bomb physics. I'm okay with regular wavedashes, but Samus's thing is kinda random and doesn't really make any sense on the timing.
@ Ultraxwing: I'd love to argue with you all day about who's got the biggest (fanbase), but honestly for once that there is a constructive discussion going on about the CE, I'll pass on derailing it. PM me if you really want to talk about it, but I'll stop discussing that matter on this thread unless really needed.
I think the people here so concerned about the PMBR's feelings should consider that this leak isn't hurting their project in any way. Unless I misunderstood, Dantarion pretty much just explained that he doesn't plan to invest any time into a vBrawl CE at all. So this is basically the only thing we'll get outside of P:M that allows to clone characters.
Maybe it's buggy, and maybe people should wait for the perfect release "some time, not in txt form, and we don't really want to work on it", but a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Especially with such a very spiny bush.
Just a clarification, but we've been hosting ourselves for a year and a half. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure that if Dant was still hosting us, either this leak would be deleted or the website would be down.
from what i've read. the Clone engine is stupid and only sastifies a small niche and would only have 2 people working on it anyway.
I have no idea what exactly you've been reading except Dantarion's posts, but ever since I've been an admin here, a large number of people on the boards have been pretty hyped to get a fully-working Clone Engine. You calling them a "small niche/group" just to appease Dant is honestly kinda insulting. That, or just parroting his "100 people in the entire world".
I'll move that massive derail about ds22's complaints regarding the way this board is moderated into a more well-suited section. Feel free to repost anything related to what is actually important on this thread.
They do? Then how come they haven't explained where cBliss corrupts the save file? Because, if you go read cBliss' first 3 pages, you'd find the PMBR stating it does and explaining several (Not working) ways of how it could be corrupted with it.
Extra Character Slot, I believe. Not cBliss. .w.
Then again, somebody had sabotaged the codes that ASF1nk had initially reposted from OpenSA. No wonder it wasn't working well at first.
We're trying to appeal to the competitive Melee fanbase.
Funny how a lot of people here seem to forget that it's what drives this whole project.
- Ganondorf has had that hilarious Down-Air animation replaced since what, the first iteration of P:M? It wasn't because the animation fitted Ganondorf best (it doesn't; it's Falcon's move), but to appeal to the SSBB FGC community. Because it looks like Melee. - Differenciating Falco so he's more unique? [censored] that. Make it more Melee. - Wanna playtest? I hope you've been playing in tournaments, or playing with famous tournament-players.
And yet people still wonder why there's so much old stuff in Project Melee.
This is an open-source community, always has been. You're an old-timer of this forum, it shouldn't come as a surprise.
Project Melee dveloppers can develop their project in the backroom however they want. But if you come here, don't expect to impose your ideal vision of how people should use their codes without encountering some resistance. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
This has been said more than enough times, but considering how far away and how limited the final product seems like it'll be, you guys should probably understand that a number of users would rather use this version instead of what may (or may not?) be coming "later".
Maybe the PMBR cannot appreciate a code-ridden game if it may crash under very specific circumstances, and would rather wait months, only to get a non-txt version of the code. That doesn't mean everyone shares the same opinion.
