31  Help & Tutorials / Help / Is it safe to hack a Wii U for SSBB? on: August 04, 2013, 12:56:18 AM
Please someone please respond. I really miss hacking SSBB. Is there a high risk of crashing my Wii U by hacking SSBB? My Wii stopped reading game discs after 4 months of hacking Brawl, but I think it was just that the laser that reads the discs burned out and not the hacking... I think so cuz my Wii still turned on, and I'd had that Wii for 3 years. So what I'm saying is, is there a way to install RiiVolution or the Homebrew channel on my Wii U's Wii menu so I can hack Brawl again? I only want to hack Brawl not anything else.
Please, helpful advice is greatly appreciated.

Ok, thank you all for the tips! But I think i really should just get another Wii. I mean, even if I did all this my Wii would probly just stop working again later on. I've done my research, so I think that's what's best.
But really, thank you all for taking the time to reply. Thank you. Smiley

How do you know if the disc is dual layered though? But yes, I've tried multiple discs and the error still occurs Sad. I even took my Wii apart the other night, and those prongs inside the Wii that I read about tend to slack over time and cause the wii to make weird noises and cause disc read errors was perfectly normal when I looked at them. But I did straighten them a little bit with small pliars like a tutorial I found said. Then I air compressed as many places I could get to in the Wii,; I tried to load the game with it open so I could see the disc, and it was spinning fine, but still had the weird noises. After the black loading screen the screen right after that is where it froze and the Wii kept clicking and the error message came up... I've heard updating the wii can sometimes fix it, but I've also heard that updating causes you to not be able to hack anymore on that Wii. It couldn't be the hacking itself could it? I was hacking for like 3 or 4 months prior to the malfunction.
Where should I get a usb loader (are they expensive?) and what is the risk in the "risky settup"?
Thanks for the reply too, I need all the help I can get!

If I ever get my Wii to read discs again I was thinking of getting into moveset making; however I have no clue how to do it. Is it really hard? I wanted to make a moveset to go with my Princess Amaterasu texture over Peach, but I also don't want to crash my computer or something. Can someone please tell me how it's done? Or at least a summary?
    Thanks in advance.  Smiley

What do you mean by a USB loader and DVD drive payment? And also, I was thinking of taking apart my wii and making some adjustments; I had found a site that had a tutorial for fixing your wii in that way... or just cleaning it some more before I try that.
Sorry I'm a real noob at this Tongue, but thanks for the tips!

Ok, so my wii stopped reading discs about five months ago. My wii will turn on but it will not read discs; any time I put a disc in the Wii's disc slot it will glow blue like usual, but it won't make the noise it would usually make when it reads discs. Also, when I go to the chanel that you go to to load the game, it just says something like "unable to read disc". Riivolution doesn't work to load the game either... I don't know what to do.
I've used a cleaning kit. You know, the kind that you put a couple drops on, slide it in the disc slot, then slide it up and down?(Mind you, right after it stopped reading discs I just unplugged it and put it in a bag so it sat there for quite a while.) Although a couple days ago before trying to clean it, I put Brawl in, and it read the disc. (And I know it's not the disc, 'cuz I've tried different ones.) I started the game, but after the black loading screen right when it goes white (and alot of excitement), the Wii made a clicking noise as if the disc just kept stopping or something. Then, a green screen came up with it saying something like "disc read error. Remove the Disc and turn off the Wii". (This screen popped up a couple times while I was playing Brawl online a month or so prior to the incident, but it would restart then as usual.) So I did, but when I restarted it it read the disc again but did the same thing just as it did before. The Wii wouldn't read it at all after that.
What do I do? I know Wiis' are cheap now (and about the same price for getting it repaired), but I really don't want to have to get another one because of having to go through the process again to be able to hack. And one last thing, I don't see how it could be my SD card. Please if you know anything, please respond. Maybe some advice on a good but not so expensive repair site? I don't know; anything will help. And I put this post here because it seemed to be the most reasonable place to put it; so no disrespect to the vault if I made a mistake by asking for help here; I'm a hacker, but haven't ever put a post up.
     Thanks in advance.
