46  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: Defragging SD Cards for Brawl Meaningless? on: May 16, 2014, 10:47:43 AM
Yeah, defragmenting is useless, here's what I normally do when it freezes:

I just delete the hack(s) that I just recently added, and if that doesn't work, then I just make a backup of my hacks, save them in a folder onto my desktop, and delete everything on my SD card. Then, I re-apply the hacks, 5 at a time, and test run them in Brawl.

But may I ask, how much memory can your memory card hold? And do you use Riivolution or Gecko? Do you use any audio related hacks?

I just left the files on there. If I did a format I would (by definition) have to put the hacks back on the sd card.
Well, for me, defragmenting something would be the same as formatting, except formatting is defragmenting and changing the format of the drive. What format is your memory card? NTSC? FAT?

It's funny how popular the Hidden Cookie is becoming now.

Rage award shows more that you've absolutely nothing eyecatching in your Vault. And I'm sure that's partially the reason that Blog Curators are here for...
But there should be something that allows you to chose the order of your awards (if there isn't one already.), because if you have one of these shameful award, well... It's kinda dissapointing to have to show it all around... Jussayin'...
LOL, Blog Curators prevent people from getting awards like the Rage Award.  Laugh

Just kidding.

You said you were defragmenting your SD Card, right? Were you also reapplying the hacks back on to the SD Card? (In other words, did you make backups of your hacks?)
51  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: Help needed on: May 07, 2014, 08:26:14 PM
I am new to hacking, but I've homebrewed my wii etc. all I need to know is this, I downloaded the aqua mod and it still sounds like jigglypuff, there were some files I didnt know were to put like sfx and a bit others, so when I use them the game freezes, any suggestions or tips? also has happened to me with vanitas, and tera mod same sfx/freezing deal  I am not sure where I went wrong although there zip contained a lot more then the usual  FiT and motion
If you're using Gecko, then SFX and Music will NOT work.
52  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: Posting to the vault? on: May 07, 2014, 08:22:46 PM
To be more specific( and to avoid making a longer title) if I were to port somebody's shadow model or moveset over another character, would I be allowed to post it to the vault? The only reason I'm asking is because in the past the vault was really strict when it came to posting other work(crediting/permission) but now there are these brawlex packs which don't credit everyone who made something in it.
It is allowed on the Vault ONLY IF you give credit to the person that you got the hack from. But it would be best to ask for their permission, first.
53  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: All of a sudden Random Freezes on: May 07, 2014, 08:20:07 PM
music can be a problem if you had a custom song on, then took a new one and replaced it. tho it shouldnt freeze. i would say make sure your sd card isnt locked. if needed, remove all hacks and add them bit by bit just to see if anything causes freezing
I've been making lots of music hacks, and I haven't been getting any freezes from importing BRSTMs.
Also, I read somewhere that using custom music can degrade a memory card... is this true?
I don't believe custom music can degrade a memory card.

So I imported a RayGun model and I get this:

1 error has been found in the model itmbumper
This error will be fixed when you save:
- Object0 has texture matries and non-float vertices, meaning it will explode in-game.
It's fine, it normally says that, but it turns out fine for me. Well, at least it does for me.

56  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: Hacks keep getting Silent Freeze at SSS? on: May 07, 2014, 08:04:07 PM
Normally, you'd get the silent freeze if a single or combination of hacks can't be handled in game. Mostly because of filesize I think. Even just hovering over a specific character in the CSS with a mod over their default costume could make a silent freeze. I'd slow down, and hover over specific characters with colors you know you've modded to try and find out what's causing the freeze. If you can't find it, you can try formating the SD Card
Yeah, it's like he said. But don't format your SD Card. It's a problem with the combination of attacks. I know this because I have had this sort of problem before. It's a somewhat common thing.

You don't need pretty stars or a possition as a staff to do great things on the vault, non-staff members are the blood that keeps the hearth of the KC-MM healthy. They are the ones that can donate pictures to hacks that need it, or report immediately when the rule is broken, or when a troll is on the attack. If you prove yourself to have the maturity to enforce the rules concistently and be a good citizen with no major incident involving moderation or pure insults to other fellow members, and get less lurky... you'll be set. (don't overfocus that goal)That is my tip to you. Im on mobile sorry for the typos.
I guess you're right. And, lol, that speech was pretty amazing.

The only way you could "help the Vault" would be to feature hacks from every corner of the Vault.
Yeah, exactly.
Unless you mean a Vault staff member...
And no, I don't mean by being a Staff Member.

59  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: Game freezes after cutscenes? on: May 07, 2014, 07:42:54 PM
I changed Marth, Ike, Meta Knight, Shiek, Zelda, Bowser, Giga Bowser, Mario, Lucas, Ness, and some others by using Partitio chnage on Wii Scrubber 1.4.
Uh, wow...  that might be your problem, lol. OK, so, you said you used the Partition files from this website, right? Which version of the Wii Scrubber did you use?

Uh, the download link is broken.

I made a simple Mario texture, and when I preview it in BrawlBox it looks fine, but in-game it has a bunch of black shadow-y things all over Mario. Is this common? And if so, how do I fix it?
May I see the download link for the hack?

Just out of curiosity, what's the difference between a .pac file and a .pcs file and do you need both to get a texture to work?
Well, all I know is that a .PCS file is a compressed file that contains textures, 3D models, and animations. A .PAC file is pretty much the same as a .PCS file, except a .PAC file is uncompressed. You need both of these to override a character's texture and/or model. Hope this helps.
