1  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Character Vertexes and Textures / TheSacredPhoenix's Texture Compilation Showcase, 2010 Edition on: October 04, 2010, 03:39:21 AM
Hey everyone!  A while back in 2009 when texture hacking was on the uprise, I compiled a bunch of my favorites and went crazy making CSP / in game portaits for all of them.  You can probably search the forum and find my old one, but this post is to showcase what I've compiled thus far.  Included are a lot of the better Vertex hacks (my original release was pre-Vertex hacking), and basically just a giant step up from my original.

I figured that since it fared well the first time I did it, mostly being noted for all of the CSPs I've made, I figured I'd throw it back out to everyone, as well as congratulate and thank everyone that is active here and other active texture sites for all their hard work.

I have not made any of the textures myself, and with the exception of maybe half a dozen official game art and half a dozen other people's CSP (Ridley, Mob Mario comes to mind immediately), the CSPs are all made by me.

If anyone is interested in downloading this set (it has alternate loaded stages with mapped buttons holds too for almost all stages, and Online Training + a dozen or so Subspace over New Pork), let me know, and I can upload the files tomorrow.

Without further adieu, check out the videos of both the Character Selection Screen and some Sample Gameplay.

2  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / GUI (Visual ) Game and Watch Creator! on: November 17, 2009, 06:17:46 PM
Alright guys, it's done!  I know a bunch of people on Smash Boards expressed interest in it before and were excited to see if it'd get done, and alas, I buckled down and taught myself enough Perl to finish it =P  Figured I'd share it with you all at this forum, and maybe someone can add it to the Gallery page?  (Like the GWitizer link)

Basically here's the idea : GWitizer is a great tool, but unnecessarily difficult and tedious to use because you have to find the RGB values of all the colors you want, type them in one by one, and don't make any mistakes, because if you do, you have to start over.  Kind of tedious, yeah?

What I did was program a graphical interface, complete with color wheel and color chooser and all on Java, made it user friendly, made it send over all the data to the original GWitizer and automatically create your PAC and PCS files without ever needing to press one key stroke on your keyboard.  Add in that it's user friendly and something you don't even have to install and what you get is (I hope you feel this way, I do!) a nice little tool designed to make Game and Watch custom colors easier than ever.

So here's the download link first of all.  (Even people who downloaded the not completely working version a week ago need to redownload this, it has too many changes to try to edit that one.)  http://www.mediafire.com/?cmz5owtlkdx

There are more detailed instructions inside of the text file in the download, but here they are for those who want to know how to use it before they download:
1) Open ColorChooser.jar
2) Follow graphical interface instructions
3) Click bottom button
4) Copy over and rename the Game and Watch files that were created.

And that's it!  Easy, huh?

Special thanks to picano and elrefugio, who were both listed on the original GWitizer readme, so thanks for making the actual engine that creates the PAC and PCS files!

Want to see pictures?  Look no further!

Upon opening, shows previews and you can click the buttons to change whatever you want.  The rectangle represents Mr. Game and Watch's body color and outline and the oval represents Mr. Game and Watch's attack and final smash color and outline.

You can use the regular color palette...

Or go for the full spectrum layout.  The images update in real time as you confirm any color.

Want the same color effects as your Game and Watch?  No problem!  Don't want the same colors?  No problem either!

When you're done, click the bottom button, wait about 15 seconds, and TA-DA!, copy over your new Game and Watch .pac and .pcs files onto your SD Card and rename.  That easy!

So lemme know what you think, or where to go from here, etc.  Sorry, but I don't think I can ever program it to be able to pattern or texture pattern Game and Watch customs because I still use GWitizer as a code base, and if that program doesn't support it, mine doesn't either.  But if there is anything that people are looking for besides that, let me know!

Enjoy! ^_^
3  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Character Vertexes and Textures / TheSacredPhoenix's Texture Pack (With Custom CSS, CSP, and Ingame images) on: November 05, 2009, 12:22:03 PM
Hey all, I posted this on Smash Boards and received good feedback, just wanted to share with you all because you've been a great resource for actually acquiring textures.

Taken from my video description:
WHAT I DID DO:
- Take pictures of every character on Pictochat (except Shadow and default Nintendo colors), use Photoshop to crop and edit them, then turn them into acceptable .tgas. I did all of this myself without using .tga's that other people created. Yes. It took like 30 hours.
- Compiled my favorite textures of every character except G&W (which I made using picano's tool) from around the internet.
- Edited spunit's code to create my Custom CSS (Character Select Screen).

WHAT I DIDN'T DO
- Create the textures themselves. These magnificent works of art were done by skilled and innovative artists from Stack Smash, Kitty Corp, Meow Mix, and other smaller individual developers.
- Create Gecko, Ocarina, CSS, etc, code. I did edit some of the CSS code to arrange the icons to my liking, so I do take credit for the design, but not the code itself.
- Create anything related to the stage.

SPECIAL THANKS
- Phantom Wings - for making textures able to be loaded off of the SD Card, among other things. Serious props, thanks a lot.
- spunit262 - for making a character select screen I used as a base for mine.
- Kitty Corps and Meow Mix - for all their guides and galleries.
- allisbrawl - there was this one post that gave really simple instructions on how to get crisp and non-pink bordered .tgas in a very simple manner.
- Fit Artifex - for making a custom "4 Ways To Play" and Strap Loader screen.
- ecco / A Flying Turnip (depending on platform he goes by different names) - for assisting me on roster decision as well as test play.
Estimated time of compiling everything, renaming everything, taking and creating tgas, and the rest : about 50 hours. It was well worth it though, it's a great game and the depth of what can be modded is just astounding. Maybe my Computer Science degree will push me to try my hand on something more than just collecting other people's creations. We'll see.

So, here we go:

VERSION 1.0
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0uz16HGO_s" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0uz16HGO_s</a>

VERSION 1.1 updates.
What's new : Strap loader, 4 Ways to Play, Game and Watch colors and CSPs, and some stages that I liked from others put on. Also, Auto Ruleset code implemented to 3 Stock, Infinite Time (yeah, yeah), Stock, Turn Stage Choice, and then other "normal" options. NO GAMEPLAY CHANGES MADE. I am kinda against that. I am considering No Tripping, but I probably won't do it.

Wanna see it in action? Sure you do! See first video for all characters, this is just a video of additional changes.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixk5JXnwNTw" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixk5JXnwNTw</a>
Enjoy.

This is my CSS arrangement too. See the first video for textures on the CSS, and also in game images too.

Wanna download it?  Go here.http://depositfiles.com/en/files/rul7fqt4u
: Includes code file, a list of the codes I use, all textures, CSP and CSS changes, Strap Loader, 4 Ways to Play screen, and for kicks I even threw in my TGA files that I spent like, 30 hours working on.

So tell me what you think or if you download it or whatever.
