i use dolphin AND my wii with BrawlEx very frequently and neither one ever just randomly doesn't load. its always something i have done and when i fix what i did wrong it always works.

I set up everything using dolphin and it works. Then I use my wii (changing the hooktype to AxNextFrame) and everything still works. Using CFG usb loader.

And yeah, I have that hack since it's one of the ones I like to use. I didn't know it was broken - I'll upload it some time soon. I'll probably do them tomorrow, since I'm helping someone get the BrawlEx Clone Engine running at the moment.

I'm actually using these textures to a BrawlEx Clone slot I made for Claus.

You know, I was incredibly surprised those Toon Link textures proved to be so popular! My jaw dropped every time I saw them in the top downloads box the first week or so, lol. I was so proud I screen-capped it  

Those are really AMAZING textures. They deserve every download.
