yes, I plan to do all of the links costumes. the DLC will take some time to do, due to the broken cloth. trainer will be the next one I do because it will reuse parts of the current link I am working on. all that I will have to do is optimize the body and the weapons

that looks ok, i like the shine and stuff the dark border makes it look like it has normal problems. or something like that.

can't wait for that link, what if you use brawl link's torso?
not against using it, just thought i ask why use brawl link's torso.

if that sounds rude or something i don't mean for it to be, not sure of another way to word it

forgot to post here about getting and import hyrule warriors link





just gotta add a few more verts to the scarf so that it can be properly rigged and UVd.

adding the faces for expressions increases the poly count back to a ridiculous number. when you set them up the number drops back down, hopefully this won't cause a problem for him.

also, I will be using link's brawl eyes so that I can easily port over the shader and materials.

skyward sword hero link will be put off for awhile longer, plan to use the hyrule warrior DLC one instead. all that's needed is a fixed hat, may use the default hyrule warriors link hat and re-UV it if the cloth fix thing isn't released by the time I get to him.

skyloft link will be released as normal, current having material problems. i will make a hyrule warriors DLC version for him, to go with the hero version

it took awhile but now he is optimized, a page back DSX8 said around 15k for impa should be good so hopefully the same amount should be good for link. if not I will try to optimize some more.

adding 3 faces for link's expressions increases poly count to 19k, but when setting them up you have to delete them so hopefully it works out. i compared 2 ver of my skyloft link and that what it looks like, original model with all faces had one count and after setting up the expressions the count was lowered.

not all the models r on the model resource. I have the ripped files from the iso that i got from Twili on another site, and twili got said models from a wii u iso unpacker user that wont share his tools.

as for smash bros models, we could optimize them

I take it you ripped Link yourelf, or you got the model from someone?
yeah, I got the model from the thread from the link that was posted awhile ago. been following the thread for awhile. then they gave the models and shared how to get them and stuff and I used that to get link and his stuff. then learned that the UVs wasn't saved, so I waited until more progress was made with UVs and textures.

i planned to do SS link, SS Zelda, and impa. SS link's hat is broken and that can't be fixed until fixed cloth script or whatever is done, rigs wasn't preserved yet so I didn't bother with SS Zelda(she is posed differently), and impa didn't have the feather things fixed so I didn't bother with her either. so to preoccupy me I got link the link above

i believe his scarf be broken in the back... good luck with that xP
yeah, I made a place holder while I worked on everything else. didn't do anything to it but extrude what was already there and re-UV. will vertex and stuff later, not worried about it right now



I also made some more progress on optimizing as you can tell from poly number drop

i got bored so I started link





still optimizing, all that's left for optimizing is:

finish optimizing back shield,
replace the arm shield with new optimized back shield
optimize the face and neck
optimize the arms starting at the white under shirt to the fingers
optimize the hair
optimize the hat.
after doing all of that if I am able to, then I will do expressions.

currently at 20k so hopefully I can do the expressions

everything works but I don't have it setup for in game pics yet. because of how his arms are rigged in brawl I had to separate it into two objects. so it no longer twist like my current upload, instead it may disconnect or a visible seam may appear. I myself prefer the seam over the twisting arms.

Thanks, I'll try the experssions thing out and as for the Link, looking good. The render has too much of a harsh light though. Looks as if he is on stage.
thanks for the feedback, still working on trying to render with max.

Edit: hero link has new hair thanks to taiko. skyloft link will also recieve new hair.

I just asked taiko if he would do dark link so he will be done soon

and thanks for the offer Ashley and red but I don't need help. the expressions were already made when I posted and the texture edit will be just darker seams, and resized to be larger. they are a bit too light in skyward sword.

as the sixth costume for the SS link I am making, I decided to revamp skyloft link, he now has:

- longer sword and sheath for hitbox
 - fixed back of shirt
 - non soulless eyes (use vbrawl link's)
 - expressions
 - more detailed textures later

thanks, unfortunately I didn't get to finish him today. there are a lot of objects to navigate through, tons of materials and shaders to make, and I kinda forgot to do the recolors. I went ahead and did a few of those tonight, can see those if you click the pic below (it's a thumbnail)

can't see but he uses brawl eyes so that he doesn't have the soulless look. just needs materials done for all of his shields, swords, and stuff.

sadly objects influenced by physics r broken.. and the uv's r majorly destroyed.. altho the game has boob physics.. i like that a lot c:

note: these r just previews of a WIP rig imma be doing, so when other objects (along with UV's) gets fixed, ill show another WIP of them. Both midna and Ruto have already been fixed and are both 12k poly's.. the others needs more model editing.
