It's also kinda weird how only a handful characters actually have chr_41 files (the clone trio, Mr. G&W, DHD, Falco, ROB and Wario).
I don't know the answer to your first question because I know next to nothing about Smash 4 modding, but I will say that what those characters all have in common is that they are the unlockable fighters. Do Ness, Ganondorf, Bowser Jr., and Jigglypuff also have chr_41 files?
I've heard some people say that they used to interpret the sprite for this enemy as the winged shells holding up the octopus. Maybe it's because of how the lines never bend, or how the shells seem to go higher/lower, but I've always interpreted the whitish lines as being metal poles. It certainly makes for a more interesting enemy.
Looks pretty sweet. I am now interpreting those poles as antennae so that the octopus gets proper reception for its built-in radio.
What do you guys think of this face? I also did an alternate outfit as I think that if Samus would have had a game on N64, she might have retained her old green haired, red zero suit outfit, but hey, that's just me.
I think the face is too high. I'd lower the eyes, nose, and mouth by at least the mouth's height and see how that looks (eyes should rest just above the center of the face between the hairline and the chin). Perhaps lower the ears by the same amount—typically, the bottom of the ear starts very close to the end of the jawline.
I think the texture itself is great, it's just the placement makes it seem so incredibly strange.
Hmm...would it be possible to throw a FNaF head on that model? I mean it's a combination of all extremely popular internet characters, and FNaF is a major hit at the moment, so it'd make sense. Oh yah, is Vegeta's scouter on that thing? It should be if it isn't already. xD
Had to look up what that was, but...[grumpycatno.jpg]. Also that became popular well after the time this started. And also has more to do with the internet in general than KCMM, as BBA Mega Man pointed out. This is a convoluted mess of overdone Brawl mods.
I think I had planned on adding Vegeta's scouter, though, but I think I was going to stop there. Also. Kage Ryu has started finished rigging. The hell are you doing did you just do, Kage. Whyyy, Kage, whyyy?
back when greninja was revealed, quite a few people started uploading greninja hacks. we joked how overrated it was becoming, then Kage Ryu put shadow the hedgehog's head and shoes onto him. eventually, we kept on saying more overrated hacks on the vault, continually adding them to the monstrosity. thus was born the most overrated character in history, 2nd only to Sora from Kingdom Hearts the version you see is an incomplete version of the final model, which had zero's arms, lloyd irving's sword belt and mega man's buster over pit's bow. cant remember what was over the shield.
Nope, that part wasn't me. Pretty sure it was Demon of Elru that did that and everything up to the image he posted. I only added the stuff after that (Little Mac shorts, Lloyd's swords, Zero's hands, Young Link's shield).
And yes, I still have the model of that abomination. I had also added Mega Man's Mega Buster and Naruto's Rasenshuriken, but those were on hidden layers because they cover up the right arm.
It's still not rigged. I had lost interest a long time ago because my motivation is equivalent to a goldfish's attention span. I'm no longer employed, so technically I have a lot of free time now, but I don't want to promise anything and get people's hopes up.
I can post now! Seriously, I haven't been able to do so much as view the main forum page for like three months. I'd lose my connection to the site if I so much as tried to view a thread, let alone post.
Anywho. Dropped in to say this is pretty cool. I don't even have any idea who this character is, I just like that you've rigged a proportionally-correct humanoid over Fox. Nice job.
Leaving this here, recolors have been made, will post pics of those when done with adding expressions to the FitGanonMotionEtc.pac.
Nice. And an interesting idea. Though I would put the mask off-center from the bone it's attached to so that he's holding it by a grippable point and his arm isn't going through it. Like, put the right edge of the mask over the part of the bone the sword's grip would be.
It's the Orb User family! What you see here is actually three different versions of the design: Classic, Modern, and Subspace. All three designs come in all three colors. I didn't put any thought into how these guys could be used in a hack, so you'll have to get creative if you want to use them.
Not all that hard, but if either of these fail, then you have double sided faces in play. On that note, anyone know how to Fix those with say, Zelda's dress? Softening the edges in either program produces undesirable results.
I'm not sure there is a way to fix that for Zelda's dress and torso without just deleting the doubled faces. BrawlBox and whatever tools the developers used handle double-faced meshes just fine, but Maya treats every shared edge like a hard edge. I don't even get why it was necessary unless they really need backface culling on for some reason. The hack way to fix that is deleting the extra face (only on one side, though) and smooth the edges, then set its material in BB to not have culling. Let me know if you find a better solution that keeps the model as-is, though.
So combine the dark and light scales into a different layers? Then mess with layers' transparency/opacity? Could you further elaborate? This better be worth it...
I think what he's trying to get at, or at least what I'd recommend, is something called "ambient occlusion". In short, that's just a term for adding shadows to places where shadows typically appear in nearly all lighting situations (such as defining muscle creases or where his lower torso and pants intersect, for instance). Brawl textures to this a lot and it's very noticeable, but most probably don't know a term for it. It's easier to do this on a different layer above the texture in the texture's .psd file to prevent messing with the original texture.
