91  Help & Tutorials / Help / A updated shadows tutorial for custom stages (I solved it myself like a badass) on: January 01, 2015, 05:40:33 PM
Is anyone here willing to share their knowledge on how to make shadows in custom stages? I been reading the tutorials found here but its too hard to understand or is too sumarized. A knowledge like this could be extremely helpfull for stagers. If I learn it I could keep updating it myself later...

Edit: I learned how to do it myself. Yay!

I am sorry for asking questions repeatedly and I don't know,If it is dumb of me to ask,But does this texture hack work on Dolphin Emulator Project M 3.0? Because,If it does,This will be one  Kirby Dance moment.  Awesome Face Crazeh right?

Yes. I use it, I also use it for 3.5, but excluding the textures that is not working for 3.5 yet.

True, Mario Galaxy without rimlight is just... Mario 64 in space.

Well, I think I can find the names by comparing the file names that are downloaded from the model resourse website... typically, the rippers do not rename them.

alright im needing some help, i am trying to inject these textures into the ProjectM iso and i keep running into issues, the first time i overwrote the current project M files before running the ISO builder, but i was only running ISO builder for 3.0 not 3.5, the ISO built and ran but i would get random crashes mid match some times, i finally realised that maybe it was that i was using the wrong ISO builder batch file, so i downloaded the updated one and built the ISO again, well i built 2 iso's one without the Smash 3 pack, and one with, the one without runs without a hitch now, literally no problems at all so far, but the one with smash 3 pops up asking me to insert the smash bros disc, ive never had that happen before with any of my backups. i changed the game ID on the one with smash 3 to RSBEWU instead of RSBEPM since i already had the iso without smash 3 on the HDD, is it possible changing the Game ID is whats causing the insert disc error? thanks guys FYI these textures look great really takes full advantage of the 480p limit

Hello; dbgenerations
Im too much of a n00b to understand this problem. Also, a brother of mine is running smash 3 pm 3.5 on an iso using USBloaderGX, of course excluding certain aspects from our release that freezes PM.... he has no issues.

ISO builder? Isn't that when you burn files on a disk or something?

And Im running our current unreleased build on mine using dolphin, no issues.

This is an issue that is not related to smash 3, therefore is not our fault and you must look elsewhere for assistance.

May I use the models and textures of this for my BrawlEx pack?

If you don't make our Peach well endowed, then yes, go ahead!

*is able to import SMG models into brawl along with proper materials and shaders*

did i say something? anyways... nice stage i guess... at least we get another sonic stage

am i the only one that assumed DSX8 was actually offering help? O_O

English is still confusing for me, I swear that reading it the first time I understood that it was a rude statement... reading it 10 times with the help of someone who understands english more than I do got a "I wanna help you" or a "ain't no big deal you can do it!" vibe.

Im sorry for the misunderstanding.

but yes, i was offering help to replicate the shaders and materials that he needs for his SMG stage that he wants to do.

I don't think it needs some material and shader editing, unless its because I have no idea on how it would look with its materials and shaders edited ... in fact, the stage is almost ready for release.

What it does need is shadows, I changed my mind about adding them, but playtesters re-changed my mind.

did i say something?

Edit: Wait a sec... wait a sec... waiiiiiit a sec... what did you mean by that section? I think I am misunderstanding.

shadows?
i hope you're talking about shadows, because that's what i see that's missing... xD

Im learning the ropes, Im trying my best to get things right.  Shadow making is something I've been secretly attempting for weeks now, but can't get it right.

Can you make Sonic again but with his brawl model and his smash 3 textures?

No.

That explains why I could not gain access to it then. Thanks!

For now, I'll just finish the stages that I already started with your exports that used .bress before. I'll give ripping one more try afterwards.

Actually, perhaps I'll attempt it now just to get the correct shaders and light settings for the wisp stage.

Well, that was easy, I ripped the shaders, materials and scene data from the planet wisp stage and mimic them over to Brawls Data:

Progress:

After 4 minutes the stage turns into this:

I find it finished, but there is one thing I must do first for the icing on the cake.

Let me say that the most updated released public version of Brawl Box is beast, I especially like it because it focused on stage design (I don't make characters, so I might had missed those details) but man this is looking pretty awesome.

Sorry I don't feedback more often, I don't speak code  Undecided

Iwvi fixed it, I fixed it over that fix because I did not know it was fixed... so, its twice fixed. Thanks!

Oh, good. Maybe I'll do that too...

the shader is not necessary. I did a test, it does change how the whole model looks, it made mine darker.

The material was all that was nessesary.

I think Green Green's Tree has the transparency you're looking for. The ModelData[2] in the file, under materials, mat34, be sure to copy the shader it uses as well.

It worked! Thanks!
