256  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Brawl Vault Problems, Updates, and Suggestions on: June 12, 2012, 07:08:58 PM
But that appears to actually be plagiarism, which does break the rules...

But that's not Pride's fault. I saw the stage and made a post here asking someone to remove it. After that, this guy uploaded the stage again and Pride sent me a PM about it, his job as a BV Staff member was great.  Grin

You're missing the point pretty severely. In fact, saying that you told a BV staff to delete something and it promptly was deleted with no further investigation is directly counter to the point I am making.

I didn't say anything was anyone's "fault." I was gently reminding everyone of what is actually grounds for deletion, because people seem to be getting overenthusiastic about it. It wasn't directed at anyone in particular.

Like this. Right here. This is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

It's not a question of "permission." It is ridiculous to complain about "permission" when we've been editing Nintendo's work for years and are now, with model importing, taking the work of other companies, e.g. Capcom -- all without permission. And they actually have copyrights.

Lack of permission is not what you should be interested in and is not grounds for deletion.

I checked the files, he changed 3 textures and released it. That's basically this part of the rules, isn't it?
That depends on the scope of the changes. That's why I said the BV staff needs to look and make sure before deleting. Plagiarism is a pretty serious charge; they shouldn't be deleting stuff out of hand, based only on the claims of the plaintiff.

It's up to them to make the call. That's part of what they volunteered to do.

I would like to quote for you guys the rules regarding submissions to the Vault.

Quote
Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Anyone found to be plagiarizing someone else’s work will be banned indefinitely from submitting to Brawl Vault.
o THIS INCLUDES MINOR EDITS TO OTHERS’ WORK. If you copy what someone has written and superficially change a few words, it’s still plagiarism; the same concept applies here. For example, creating a night/rain/snow version of someone’s stage or changing a character’s shirt from green to blue and releasing it on your own is plagiarism.

Certain board rules also apply to BV submissions and reports :
    Flaming
    Trolling
    Spamming
    Disruptive Behavior
    Offensive Material
These are the only grounds you have for deleting a hack. If someone asks to have a hack deleted because it's based on their work, you need to make sure it's actually plagiarized. Otherwise, just edit in a credit if needed.

To put it more plainly: Derivative works are not subject to deletion.

Once you put a hack out there, people have just as much of a right to mod it as they do to mod the original Brawl files.

I say this because it seems you guys are getting a bit overzealous in deleting stuff -- you're certainly being far harsher in enforcing your "copyright" than Nintendo is.

Didn't he say he didn't want to download them one by one...? I don't see any way to do that on Dropbox, unless you need an account to do it.

I was told to post this little gem here

FYI, you were told wrong; this is the thread for BV-related stuff.

Anyway, no. We're not keen on hosting it ourselves, and there's no simple "upload to imgur" bar we can add. (I'd copy the imageshack one from the Add Hack page, but picano seems to dislike it for some reason; dunno why but I'll trust him.)

If you click "Organize" near the top of the screen when viewing your PB album, you can sort by filename and make finding pictures a lot easier. That should help?

Edit: The imgur API is surprisingly simple to use; I'll look into adding an upload option. It won't be anytime soon, though. Right now, any work I do on this site (that isn't easy like installing a mod) is directed at another, rather large project.

I assume you used code from the "show posts"? It appears to show the same amount of pages for each while there should be much less pages of topics
I didn't use [censored], just installed a mod.
263  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Board Suggestions and Updates on: June 11, 2012, 10:54:43 AM
Could you guys possibly implement a system that lets you find all the topics YOU started yourself? All together, not like when you look through your posts, but an actual place for it like. Unread Replies. Unread Posts Since Last Visit. My Topics.
Done. Find it at the bottom of your profile summary.

264  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Moderation [Appreciations, suggestions, reports] on: June 08, 2012, 05:21:00 PM
Well, it's supposed to be "darkblue". Aka this color.
And that's exactly what it is, if you look at the CSS.

I'm gonna leave the warning text white and change the bar back to red.

267  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Music & SFX / Re: vyTunes: Updated June 6 [Misc.] on: June 06, 2012, 03:59:01 AM
I was going through my brstms and found a whole bunch of stuff of mine that either wasn't in this thread or wasn't even in the Vault. They're all miscellaneous songs that I did for requests or converted since I was looping them for Duodecim replays anyway.

The new songs are:

Something in my nice table layout seems to have broken. I'll fix it or devise a new one soon, I guess.

And finally...

As for DMC4: I tend to convert music only from games I've played, and I haven't touched my copy of DMC1, which I've had for three years, yet...

I just wanted to mention that I still have not played this game. I've got a problem.

Innocent until proven guilty.
269  Welcome / Rules / Feedback / Brawl Vault / Re: Brawl Vault Community Support on: June 02, 2012, 09:25:21 PM
I wouldn't know why not, it fixes the broken download either way.
I was thinking that it's technically not the uploader's brstm, but yeah, it really doesn't matter.

I remade this one: http://www.mediafire.com/?b6zh1owx3zb9za9

Not sure if you guys accept remakes, though.
