Again, Vyse has been quite busy, so he hasn't been able to finish with the Vault. I've been nagging him about it a lot, but he does this on his free time, so he'll need time to finish the update.
However, we'll soon be opening the new sections for Sm4sh Wii U/3DS Modding, so at least we'll have that.
Coming from "the guy who has looked at the entire Vault. And I mean ALL of it", I'm led to believe you've done a [censored]ty job at looking at the entirety of the Vault. Mega came back weeks after Megaupload died, and it's heavily used.
Can we remove "Dropbox preferred" from the "Submit" page? Dropbox has a 20GB daily data cap and multiple violations result in long periods of "Error (429) This account's links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled!" ShadowLuigi~NG~'s, russmarrs2's, etc.'s vaults have already experienced issues with this. Mediafire and MEGA are better alternatives. I'd even argue that Dropbox should be discouraged for file sharing usage on a public forum.
I too have been having these issues, however, as you said, this is only an issue with very popular modders (or, on my case, a guy who shares stuff with Dropbox on a lot of places. I'm sure that ended up killing mine so I've had to re-upload stuff on another account).
Thing is, nothing is certain. It is a hassle that Dropbox wipes the whole Vault of these users once it expires. Mediafire (AFAIK) only kills the highly downloaded mod on the other hand. Mega also requires you to kind of encrypt the names so the files won't be removed, which can be a hassle. Out of the three, I can't say which is the best, so instead of removing Dropbox, I opt for adding Mega (And maybe Google Drive/One Drive) to the suggested upload methods.
Hey I was just wondering, I'm a little bit new to the boards and well I made a request topic where I take requests. Are OTHER people allowed to post links themselves when people ask for requests or should they create their OWN topic for it? Post Merge: May 26, 2016, 04:25:13 AMHere is the link to my topic if it helps (on page 2 and 3) http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=76488.0
There's a catch though: You must own the DLC to play them. Odd considering we are already pirating the game by using Loadliine. Whatever floats this dev's boat I guess.
Sounds like renaming "Brawl Vault" to "Smash Vault" will definitely be easier to do over mirroring the layout of everything and slapping a new logo on top. The only worry that comes to mind is how would stage or character selection work? Characters would be easy since most carried over to the newer version of the game, but the stage list would almost double. All those images would have to be separated with a Brawl and Sm4sh Divider. Just a thought.
Is there a different thread going on where everyone is talking about this? Or just PMs as of now?
Sm4sh will get its own CSS on the Vault, don't worry about that.
Anyways, has there been any input on getting a vault setup for smash 4 yet since the new exploit is around? Maybe call it "Sm4sh Vault" to keep individual games of the series separate while keeping a similar naming conventions?
There's been some discussion about it, and progress is moderately slow as Vyse is the sole coder of it. So far I believe we'll be going with Smash Vault and use our actual Vault, but make it so the current submissions are tagged as "Brawl" mods, and so people will have to tag their newest submissions for the game they are (Be it Brawl, Smash U, or Smash 3DS).
The choice to only view selected games' submissions will also be added, so you don't have to browse through the huge amount of mods in the Vault to find the Smash U mods.
This is what's kind of "decided" as of now. We'll be creating the Sm4sh Forum sections sooner than the Vault though.
This really isn't the place to be asking questions. GBATemp, as difficult as it is, is the best place to ask atm. Or maybe if soneek shows up, but he can't FAQ for everything.
Just to reiterate, wade through GBATemp and you might be able to find an answer there.
I'm totally aware I can get that answer there or at /r/3dshacks | /r/wiiuhacks, but I decided to ask here since I had no hurry for an answer.
EDIT: Boooy it's been a wild ride. Set up the means for Homebrew Launcher/Loadliine/A few Save Editors. Now just need to read carefully how to save import/export.
