Alright try pausing and saving after you complete each step in that tutorial. The problem may be something else unrelated to adding bones and knowing the exact step that causes the crash can help narrow the problem down.
Funny how I never thought about that. I'll give that a try then. Thanks Ebola I'll let you know how it goes!

You should just be able to press Ctrl + Alt + N on any bone to add a new child bone. If that's causing a crash try the latest version of Brawlbox (v0.77).
Yeah I already tried both of those options but none worked. Basically Brawlbox v068b is the only version that can edit the pac file of a character for some stupid reason! Anyway thanks bro for trying to help me and no worries because I'm not giving up that easily.
3  Help & Tutorials / Help / How can I add new bones to a character without Brawlbox crashing? on: October 28, 2016, 10:41:45 PM
Hi everyone is there a way or is it even possible to add new bones to a character in Brawlbox without it crashing? Basically I'm using Brawlbox v0.68b and I've been trying to follow a youtube tutorial about model changing for characters and I believe it's required to add a new bone. On top of that I saw the guy add 2 new bones for Mario after adding new textures and a polygon to him and his Brawlbox v0.68b didn't crash when he saved the pac file but mine does!  Sad So is there something I'm missing here?

Earlier I was talking about the animations but I just thought I needed to add more Actions to make a counter but since it's impossible to make new Actions I see I have to just edit the Actions that are below a character's Final Smash Action like Mario's Final Smash Action is 278. I also see that Mario has 2 Actions below his Final Smash. There's 279 and 280 so I assume those are the ones that I have to edit to make the Counter Attack right? I know how to handle the Sub Actions by the way it was the Actions part I was stuck on since I've never looked into those before.

Hmm I'm having trouble with adding new Action Groups with Brawlbox because it freezes every time I try to save after adding a new Action. Any thoughts as to why this is happening? Oh yeah the reason for me trying to add a new Action Group is I'm not sure if I should use the Actions that are below the Final Smash Action of a character or make a new Action in Brawlbox. I'm quite stuck on this one bro.

Sorry I wasn't clear when I said animation slot I actually meant Animation Data in a character's motion pac file. Basically I saw an option in Brawlbox to make a new animation for the character motion pac that I opened which in this case was Mario. I was wondering if I needed to make a new animation in Brawlbox and reference the counter attack to that or simply reference the counter attack to a preexisting animation.

Hi Bero do you know if this awesome tool you made will work with Project M? The Project M team heavily altered the AI somehow for them to tech the way they do in the latest releases.

Great tutorial KingJigglyPuff! By the way do I need to give a character a new animation slot in Brawlbox for the counterattack or do I simply use a GoTo subaction command?

A Counter? That's certainly possible.

So things aren't cluttered, I can make a basic tutorial on it.
Pac Man's Fruit and Hydrant aren't currently possible, as those are Articles, but Super Armor and the Ghost effects are possible. Power Pellet would possibly be a mix between the two. Though it would likely require advanced coding.

Super Armor is applied via command while the Ghost effects would be applied by either GFX, Model Changer, or VIS0.
Awesome bro when can you find time to make a tutorial on making a counterattack?

Hey KingJigglyPuff do know the methods or have a hint on how to make a counterattack for a character? I'm trying to give Ganondorf a counterattack in Project M. Oh by the way sorry if this isn't the right place to ask but I've been searching through the web for a solution but have found nothing. It's quite frustrating. Embarrassed
