I worked a lot on the stage yesterday and today, especially on the textures. But I have a question : since i'm a genius (ironically of course) the number of walls on the sides is not a power of 2, which is really annoying for the textures. To keep the textures good looking, I decided to keep the model's lenght, and to place a part of the model backstage.
This is what I mean :
Of course, you ca not see it in-game. But the result is very good :
So what do you think ?
And here is a small list of everything I have still to do :
- Get the right grass texture - Get the right stone texture - Vertex the broken stairs - Make the forest spirits and the fog - Do the Forest temple in the BG - Get the right lighting
If you can help me, especially for the textures, send me a PM
I'm finally back, so I'll work again on the stage tomorrow. - ForOhFor : The Phantom Ganon room don't interest me so much, so it is great that Mewtwo will do it
You should try using a bit higher res textures though, or it doesn't blend with the game, y'know?
Also, don't forget the stump in the back. ^^;
For the textures, they will be slightly improved, since Mewtwo told me they don't have to be squarred, so they won't be so streched in the final version. But even if I have a few HD textures (from the HD OoT project), I won't use them, since I want really the feeling from the N64, you know what I mean ^^'' But you're not the only one who asked me to use higher res textures, a few friends at school did too. And for the stump, I already placed it (you mean the place where Saria is sitting, right ?)
- Memories : I hesitated to put Water Temple in the poll. In fact, it will be chalenging to make (with the water, the sand on the ground, the very special lighting...). But I'll take my time to do it, and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do it well
But for forest meadow, for all the stage makers here, I have two questions : 1) How could I do the light green fog which is in OoT and gives a mystic atmosphere to the place ? 2) How could I do the tiny forest spirits (the sort of shining balls which are flying around) ?
No, I don't think Volvagia's battle room is easier then the first room in the temple (because of the fire holes). The only difficult thing in the 1st room would be the fire statues...
As much as an overpowered version would be fun, I think it might be better to start off with a balanced one first. Ummm, go ahead and look at the main post, but some of that stuff is subject to change, so keep an open mind. ^^
Actually, I think it is easier to make it overpowered first, and then balance him out
Amen to that. FF and KH are cool (Naruto not so much), but we don't need every single character from these three in Brawl!
Personally I like Naruto and thought the CON Naruto PSA was the best PSA there is. Still though I agree, there are WAAAAY too many FF, KH and Sonic (well, I'm a Sonic fan but even I still say why the hell do we need 20 Shadow the Hedgehog hacks) fanboys and usually they're the only ones that gain popularity.
Look at the downloads for the Sephiroth PSA by Hollow and compare them to my Viewtiful Joe PSA. We both released them on the same day, but his hack has 4 times as many downloads as mine XD
Yeah, sadly the name changes all. If Sephi has been called "Lambda Marth PSA" it wouldn't had so much downloads. I played both Joe and Sephiroth PSAs, and IMO Joe is better...
I completely agree with you, Mewtwo2000. I personally do not have any stages made by anyone else OTHER than you, except for one or two. If a stage does not look like it could have COME with the game, it aggravates me to play on it. I cannot play on several custom stages because of this. Your stages are so nice, so beautiful that they feel almost perfect.
That said, FoD is looking so incredible. I cannot wait 'til you put the random stuff in the background of the main stage, like the swirly tree. What will you use to make it, I wonder? If only it was possible to make a .OBJ import of the stuff in the background...
Why "almost" perfect ? xD
Mewtwo, FoD is just amazing ! Will you animate the helix which is down the stage ?
Just to say that I'll be out of home for maybe a bit longer, because of the snow (it is for now almost impossible to drive >.<) Until I'm back to work on forest meadow, I'm doing a poll to know which OoT stage I should do next
ur making great progress dude, i remember u rerquesting me that fairy sword and i still havent done it... xD now ur becoming an awesome stage hacker, we really need stage hackers, so thats always welcome, actually any hacker is always welcome as long as he doesnt steal work...
GREAT JOB! I HOPE TO SEE MORE STAGESS FROM U AFTER THIS ONE!
Thank you very much Don't worry, this stage is just a "test". The real things will soon come. I'll just do another OoT stage and after a Jet Force Gemini stage before it to improve my technics !
And I hate to steal work. Seriously, in even in real life, I hate it. What's the point of stealing something someone else made ?
The solution is getting a single model, with a bigger texture. This way the lighting will be normal ^^U
I've looked at your stage, and you're doing a really awesome work, but you don't really need that amount of models. Those textures are from the N64, they're not hi-res, so you don't need to keep them for each single place.
Also, you can make for example 512x32 textures, they don't need to be squared.
Anyway, those models you're using are acting weird, that's not normal. Individual blocks are working fine, why those ramps aren't? Doesn't make much sense.
You can always vertex a squared block and place it where the little ramp models are...
I didn't knew textures could be not squarred O.o I'll try it out, thanks ^^ Note : I wont be at home from Friday to Sunday, so I will not be able to work on the stage :s
EDIT : I vertexed a normal block into a ramp, and this is the result !
If someone has the same issue as me, just ask me the model, I'd happy to share it ! ^^
