Does anyone happen to know if bone edits can solve some of Samus' issues, like her shoulder width and stuff?
that's the magic of bone edits, they can fix many proportion issues. and yes, shoulder width is an easy fix, only requires 2 bones, one for each side. i'm just a bit curious if i could find the bone that tells where all the missiles and charge shots come out of, so i could make it come out of the back cannon instead... but yes, bone edits will help with those issues.
correct me if im wrong but you cant have 2 bones named the same in brawlbox... O.o
you can have bones named the same. it'll simply apply the same animation to them. i did this with my Klonoa import, the ear bones are named the same as each other.
Just one question snoops. If you have them come from the torso, then do they have their own shoulderN? cause if they don't then it will look weird if the other set of arms goes back and clips into the second one. Maybe you can either have the arms on the back follow Shoulder N and the others be attached to the bustN, or have both arms follow the same Shoulder N bone (I think this is the best way). Then It'll look good. But in case of someone animating it, maybe you want two sets of shoulder N? I think it is a waste of bones though. So how did you do it? I'm curious
it was a bit of a simplification that i said they only came out of the BustN. this is the structure i made for Machamp.
i gave him ShoulderNb type bones that are positioned to be above the first set, then the rest of the extra arm bones will be named the same as the first set, that way the second set will have full motion as well.
importing is a lot easier than what snoopy is doing, an import takes me less than an hour to complete, so it cant be that hard, can it?
and basically this. bone edits usually aren't necessary, and can be complicated, but can be very worth it. and i tend to over complicate things anyways.
then the parent bone would be the ThrowN, and the extra arms may look a bit funny coming out from below his feet. they'd have to be added so that the BustN is the parent, that way they come out from the torso.
it's not that i can't add bones, it's that if i do, it'll throw off the ThrowN bone, which will then cause more issues, like the inability to be thrown without freezing the game.
yep, he's on DK, and has a functioning set of extra arms. fortunately DK had a lot of extra bones around, but not enough to give the extra arms more than a finger and a thumb bone. and yes, i'll be rigging him. i've been wanting to make a good Machamp, just haven't yet.
dang, been needing to make Lee as well, to go with my Chan. ah well, Spex can have him. and yes, Chan could be smaller, but i'd have to go back and actually fix that. my laziness says no, even if it'd be like a 3 second edit. also, just sent the Machamp boneset. the extra arms have a whole 2 finger bones each, but that's because i can't add any extra bones.
let me make the skeleton first, then i'll send it to you. though it really won't be too different than DK's, just the extra arms above the current arms. so you can start the posing if you want.
Machamp could work on DK, he'd just need quite the edited boneset. i can basically see how it could work, and DK has a bunch of other bones that i could use to make the second set of arms move. the only thing would be that he could only have 1 bone per finger for the extra arms, but it could work.
you will need the extra shell for Blastoise, at least from what i could tell with previous Bowser imports i've done. he is looking really good though.
also, i'm pretty close to done with Skyla. just a few more places to finish rigging, and materials to fix, which is why one of the straps is missing on her in this pic, and why the eyes are funky.
i'm only making a Charizard version, using the same boneset that i gave Ridley, so it'll work with the PSA, but not only be for the PSA. my opinion is that a model shouldn't be made only for a PSA, because not everyone wants to use PSAs, like myself.
Thanks very much, I'm glad you guys like it . Nanobuds told me that he'd try rigging it. I do seem to make enough models to keep everybody busy rigging so there's plenty more where that came from if you're interested .
well darn, that's cool though. and yeah, you got any others that still need rigging?
