1  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Metal Gear Solid Needs More Hack Representation! on: January 02, 2013, 07:48:00 AM
So hi guys.  It's me, you know, the guy who started this thread. I'm back for like three seconds.  There's little to no chance of me getting back into hacking, at least not now, as I'm too busy with other things, but I thought you guys could make use of this thread over on Facepunch:http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1188569, where they've ripped quite a few models and textures from Portable Ops and the HD Collection, this thread:http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1112792, where they've grabbed quite a few models from Twin Snakes, and this thread:http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1227430, which is stuff from Peace Walker.  That's a lot of potential character hacks.  Godspeed.
2  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Character Vertexes and Textures / Re: Brawl - Metal Gear Solid creation hacks! *continuation of Irishladdie's dream* on: August 21, 2011, 03:40:03 PM
For the record, I'd be happy to continue working on vertexes when I find the time if somebody else can test them for me and get pictures.  The main problem is I'm not bringing my Wii to college, otherwise I'd try to at least finish the things that I've already made good progress on.  I'll make a separate thread for all of the random stuff I never released, but anything Metal Gear related I'll definitely post here.
3  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Metal Gear Solid Needs More Hack Representation! on: August 21, 2011, 12:05:08 AM
I'm leaving for college tomorrow, and because 3DS has been frustrating and glitchy for me, I've basically accomplished nothing.  Would any of you be interested in a release of my unfinished stuff so that someone, somewhere, may someday complete it?  The best stuff to be honest, has nothing to do with Metal Gear, but there's quite a bit of Metal Gear stuff too.
4  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Metal Gear Solid Needs More Hack Representation! on: August 04, 2011, 12:07:32 PM
oh, and just recently I managed to fix EVA's color glitch. I'll keep you posted. I'll post it on bv later when I have time.

Will you be modeling sniper wolf (For example, to have a so-called skirt), even though you're really rusty?

Yeah, I mean she's already half-way there.  And it's not the actual vertexing part I'm rusty with, all that involves is moving dots around.  It's the patching and the getting things into the game and the back and the forth and the auggggh...
5  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Metal Gear Solid Needs More Hack Representation! on: August 04, 2011, 11:25:18 AM
Sniper Wolf is pretty much wherever she was last time I posted, sorry.  I was working on about twenty hacks at once when I went AWOL, and some were receiving priority over her, in particular an essentially complete version of the Masked Man from Mother 3, and a Samurai Meta Knight.  And I'd be glad to help in whatever way I can Friedslick, but I'm just letting you know, I tried running the PSX emulator on my laptop way back when, and while I could technically get the MGS3 ROM to "load", not even the first cutscene would play all the way through (at about 1 FPS no less) before crashing.  I know the textures are a pain to rip, I just really want to finish my Boss vertex, because I want to say that was the first hack I started, and it would be nice if I had the real textures.  I think once the 3DS version comes out it should be a lot easier to rip those (although who knows), but that release has apparently been pushed till next year and I'm going to college in twenty days.

I'll try and at least finish Sniper Wolf for you, since I would be kind of a [censored] to just leave you hanging, although I hate vertexing hair like nothing else, I think I may have gotten better at it since working on that Liquid hack.  The problem is I'm just really, really rusty, and really, really preoccupied.
6  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Metal Gear Solid Needs More Hack Representation! on: July 26, 2011, 11:24:40 PM
Hey, I'm back.  I'm basically going to tell everybody what I told Terminator and say that I'll try my best to express deliver some long forgotten hacks in the month before I go to college.  That said, my life would be much easier if we could just get the complete texture rips from twin snakes, MGS2 Substance, mgs3, and now I guess Peace Walker.  I don't know to what extent ripping 3DS textures could be easier, but perhaps MGS3D might be less difficult to mess with.  Also, can anyone explain to me why we have EVA's MGS3 textures but literally nobody else's?  If it was possible to get hers, it should be possible to get everyone's.  I know she's teh hawtness and all, but I could be finished with my boss model if I had her in game textures.  I know it's time consuming and tedious, but clearly mariokart64n DID IT SUCCESSFULLY months before we even started trying, he just ripped the hot girl and lost interest after that.  Somebody needs to get him to help us if he's still around so we can just have all of the damn textures and be done with it.  And I don't want them all sitting on somebody's hard drive, I want mediafire links to every character MGS1-3, IN THIS THREAD.
7  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Metal Gear Solid Needs More Hack Representation! on: January 16, 2011, 10:58:18 PM
What's getting annoying is that his front textures seem to "mirror" to the other side, and it does NOT look good at all.
There's a way to fix that by unwrapping the UV's in 3DS and then fitting new unmirrored Textures to the model.  It's how we now have Ice climber textures where Nana and Popo can have different faces, and I think it's been done to give a couple of other characters asymmetrical textures as well.  There are a few people on the forums who who know how to do it.  I am not one of them.  Look through the vault for some hacks that have been edited to have asymmetrical textures and PM the creator to see if they're willing to Snake.  That would help us out a lot.

This is for you, Irishladdie:

I hope I can get my cookies Tongue
I've been scrolling through this thread, and I remembered the Rising Sun camo.
This is my current work:

I know it looks like it sucks, but that's what I came up in a few hours...
If somone can just fix his body texture it's done.
It's the Fit_Snake_Bes issue that isn't allowing me to finish. Sad

The Legs look great, the arms are pretty good too, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be having as much trouble texturing the body if you just used the original Snake model instead of using the Twin Snakes-Collared one as a makeshift Naked Snake Wink.  I see what you're trying to do but it doesn't resemble Naked Snake's suit enough to make using that vertex worthwhile.  See if you can finish it up on your own and if not I'll try and work my way around the Fit_Snake_Bes stuff with some cool tricks I just learned in Photoshop.
9  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Metal Gear Solid Needs More Hack Representation! on: January 04, 2011, 06:37:16 PM
Hey thanks for not giving up. I thought you were gone for good! I got MGS4 for Christmas Smiley.
Anyways, nice face vertex and I'll love to see the progress on her hair. It still needs body texture fixing, since it's still Samus like.
It'll be hard, but I think I can pull it off.

I'm hoping to talk to you very soon, it's damn school Sad
...I need to learn how to vertex.

Edit: YAY PAGE 32!!

Vertexing's not hard, deciphering Mariokart's tutorial is.  Once you get the hang of both it's a breeze.  And it may look like the model's face needs a texture update because it's still very "samusy" but that's actually because ZSS and Sniper Wolf actually have very similar faces, just different make up.
10  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Thinking outside the (Brawl)Box, a message to KCMM hackers on: January 03, 2011, 07:00:34 PM
In total agreement.  I went away for months because I was getting so bored with the drudgery and hoped when I came back I would find a bunch of amazing stuff... But no.  The hard truth is creativity is just more time consuming.

BUT [censored] IF I SEE ANOTHER CLOUD OR SHADOW...
11  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Re: Metal Gear Solid Needs More Hack Representation! on: January 03, 2011, 06:57:29 PM
Hey I'm back...  At least today.  I've had a lot on my plate and it's not all gone.  I'm just here to confirm I haven't given up on you guys or Brawl Hacking.

Terminator, here's what I've got on Sniper Wolf.  Here's what I've had for months:

I'm sorry, I still plan to finish it and you're welcome to learn 3DS and do so yourself, but life intervened.  I've still got to do all of the hair and vertex Samus's big ol' badonkadonk (seriously Samus has a huge ass) into a form fitting skirt.  This will take a few hours of concentrated effort and I'm not sure when I'll be able to do that right now.

Also Friedslick, go ahead and post what you've got MGS3 wise and I'll see if I can figure out how to fix the images.  Not with my recoloring stuff, I think I followed what Mariokart was saying way back.  And any textures you've got for the boss, even if they're super screwed up, I'd really really like to get my hands on those ASAP, fixable or no, I can work with them.

Hopefully I'll talk to you guys before March. Grin

Uh, This is getting retarded. Wario's appearence barely changes when trying to edit him, especially his face. It's his big mouth. I'm thinking about getting a port of a largely vertexed Snake model ported over Wario. A Snake model would need the following things:

(1) Vertexed fat body.
(2) Vertexed Head, so he has no more headbandtail and headband.
(3) Vertexed weaponry attached to the body. *hint ammo packs*
(4) Vertexed neck, so his suit kinda goes over it. My MGS:TTS Snake model could be used as a base.

I may of left out a few details, but that is all.
If that cannot be done, making a Fatman texture for Wario will be really hard.

Where's EVA's textures? At least I know how to texture ZSS <_<

Friedslick's got them.
13  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Project RIDLEY PSA *VERSION 1.1 IS OUT* on: November 21, 2010, 06:54:06 PM
I'm not going to quote your post Weyard because it's enormous, but it put me at ease.  I just kind of vented my frustration with the Hacking community at large on you guys.  At least we can agree that the Anime and Shadow stuff needs to go bye bye.  Idk though, maybe I'm just a purist, and granted I do use Brawl + so I barely remember what the old Brawl actually felt like, but I've always been hesitant to meddle with the original 35 characters.
14  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Project RIDLEY PSA *VERSION 1.1 IS OUT* on: November 21, 2010, 12:36:32 AM
I'm just going to go ahead and say that Zero Suit Samus' moveset is probably one of the funnest ones to play as hands down, and replacing it would be silly.  Maybe Sakurai approaches game design with things like fun in mind instead of canon accuracy or whatever, seeing as he's a game designer and not a fanboy.  I'm all behind what you guys are doing, but I don't think that the Brawl modding community is anything more than the crazies running the asylum sometimes, especially when I see people getting all high and mighty and saying they could have made a better game than Sakurai.  The truth is, he made the game that Nintendo wanted to release and not everybody was going to be pleased with it, and there are about a million more factors that constrained every one of his decisions to put things in the game than the three (ability, time, [censored]-giving) that restrict us.  Don't make modding your "revenge" against those heartless game developers who spend their lives trying to think of new ways to entertain you, and please don't whine about Nintendo taking canon liberties with their own licensed properties.  Nintendo are and always have been gameplay first and story second and I would not have it any other way.  Just make the hacks you want and stop complaining about what was missing from a game that we've now made nearly unrecognizable.  There are more anime characters in the vault now than Nintendo ones for god's sake.  We can do whatever we want to this game.  Whining about what Sakurai did or didn't do at this point is such a worthless waste of good time and energy.  Especially when you nitpick at the numerous things Vanilla Brawl got perfectly right, such as coming up with a really fun moveset for Zero Suit Samus, rarely seen outside her suit, just like Sakurai had done before with Captain Falcon and Fox, never even controlled outside their ships before Smash 64.  He may be pulling things out of his ass, but that same ass shat THE FALCON PUNCH, which had no basis in F-Zero whatsoever.  That's one brilliant ass in my opinion.

All that said, I'll still do that vertex when I get the chance.

Edit: Also your willingness to tweak balance in favor of storyline accuracy for a new Samus moveset concens me a little bit.  Please promise me you'll try and integrate Ridley into the balance scheme.  I remove overpowered characters from my game once I discover their cheapness and it would sadden me to do that with Ridley.  We all know the Cloud PSA is crazy bull[censored].  Everybody should shoot for a PSA as well-balanced as Zero or Mewtwo.  Even Zero is a little overpowered in my opinion.
15  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: Project RIDLEY PSA *VERSION 1.1 IS OUT* on: November 19, 2010, 05:28:25 PM
^Um Ridley technically wasnt in Fusion, it was an X parasite mimicking him.

Ridley's body was frozen by the Federation after they recovered it from the Bottle Ship. His corpse was taken to the Research Facility in Fusion, and it was mimicked and destroyed by an X parasite there. The X parasite's version of Ridley has huge and deformed, however the froze corpse that it had stolen his information from, looked almost exactly the same as his Super Metroid form. And as I said earlier, the Other M Ridley is a direct clone of the Super Metroid Ridley, meaning that in Super Metroid, Ridley was meant to look like this.

I'm finished arguing about this. It's like everyone hates Other M so badly that they don't want anything associated with it to be used, period. I see enough of this unjustified resentment on other forums. There is nothing wrong with Other M, aside from the occasional problems with the control scheme.

If irishladdie727 is able to vertex it so it looks right, the community will have another good Ridley vertex to use if they so please, if not, they can continue to use StarWaffle's amazing model. It's just so people will have a little variety.

Back on subject- Still waiting on help with the remaining B moves.

Well from what I hear, the writing and voice acting are terrible, and they set feminism back even further than Peach has with how they characterized Samus, but I haven't actually played the game...

I can definitely do that vertex, but this is crunch week for school, so it might be a few days before I can start it.
