you can't just rename the bones, you have to use the Bone Tree Editor to move the ExtraBones.  and you have to change at least one to not reference the first bone, which is why the shield is still small.

but sure, go ahead and send me the files and i'll do it.  do you want just a ThrowN bone, or do you want a few others as well?  i'd probably have to see the bone structure first though.  they should already have a decent TransN and HipN spot.
I did move and had to rename for it to work, ah never mind I'm not very good at explaining, yeah just do that ThrowN one and let's see if it works, then maybe I can do others myself if I'm required to.
Okay I'll PM you the file soon (the one which I haven't changed the bones in).

something you should add to the program, (at least I think it's necessary or I'm doing something wrong) is ability to increase/decrease all child-bones bone index with one click.
Right now, if I move one bone and therefor need to change bone index for the rest I need to go change it on each single of the 50+ bones.
Would be a very nice feature, if you still consider improving the program.

but if you want to use the ExtraBones, get TheShyGuy's Bone Tree Editor program, put the ExtraBones where you want, and change the BoneRef's in Tabuu, and you're good to go.  i did test out if it they could be used as the important bones (TransN, HipN, and ThrowN), and from what i remember, they all worked.  it was shortly after that i went back to school and have done almost no hacking since.

Didn't work for me, and at first all extrabones got the same bone index afterwards.
I then changed all their names (ExtraBone01, .... ExtraBone30). Got some error when trying to save in BB but it saved. Then I tried moving the bone again. I got it moved changed name to ThrowN and changed FitCharacter.pac in tabuu to have the right index.
Shield is still small... Or do I need to do this as well :

but yeah, you can use the ExtraBones.  it turns out that FortWaffle's bone adding program basically copies the entire model, pastes it to the end, changes a few pointers, and adds the bones into the data at the end.  if you want to change it, then open a model in hex before you add the bones, write down where it ends, add the desired amount of bones, re-open it in hex, go to where you wrote down, and you'll see the header data of the model again.  just go down to the bone data in the second model data, and make the changes you want, and it will change it.  this is why i was under the assumption that you couldn't hex changes after adding bones, i never realized that there was a second set of data that was read.
?

EDIT: maybe I could upload the file and you could try it?

Hello,
I'm having some trouble. I'm making a model import with jolteon.
I need the shield to work, and for that I need a separate bone, so I tried to change the bone with index 1 so it no longer is a parent for the following bones.
When it resizes the rest of the bones do that as well.
So I thought I might need to put it below the other bones (not as a child).
But when I do that (and change index for all the bones) I can't save it.
Can I do something else? or could I perhaps fix it so I can save it?
I think I can't save it because of the added bones. They need to be the last bones (if I'm not mistaken) yet they need to be child bones to where they initially were...

(Now that I think of it... maybe I could add those bones AFTER I move the index 1 bone...)
EDIT: It's not 'cause of the extra bones (at least not only 'cause of them). I changed it's index and could save but I couldn't move it below the other bone.

I'm not sure if he can or not. I know that he has glitches. And yes, i know that i can get pokepark animations. I have a proposal: Why don't we make the vaporeon + jolteon a combined project? we can make it a collab project, and help each other out, then when we release, we do a shared download count. Interested?
Perhaps, but currently I'm afraid we won't be able to do these, you see, they have too few bones (at least jolteon). I added bones to jolteon and to the animations so I could use them. But I'm having the so called shield glitch, caused by one of the extra bones having the same index as pikachus shield bone, the ThrowN bone.
This can be fixed if you have bones which won't affect the model when resized. Unfortunately jolteon does not have any of those (well the extrabones) so I'm kind of stuck.
No one would like a character without shield so until we can fix this I won't be able to complete my project.

If there is a way to set position for the extra bones that would solve this and all my other problems.

EDIT: tried your vaporeon, and yes, you have the shield problem too

may I ask, can your vaporeon use shield normally? Im making a jolteon (you can easily get the animations out of pokepark as well if you didn't know)

You can't control where you add bones unless you can discover how to assign bones to the polygons.
Yeah, I realized that Sad but if I (or anyone) would do that then we would be able to make our own bones...
but hey, since we can locate bones... shouldn't we be able to set position for bones?
seems that my work is all waste now...

Try Renaming the next bone after it XRotN
That moves its back left leg so it looks like a scorpion tail xD
but it animates Shocked

I believe I need to add bones at custom places or change bone index for some bones...
10  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: small shield and walking in ground on: June 24, 2010, 06:11:32 AM
...just rename the bone that has the same index as TransN.
well that works for the moving, but now jolteon always is in the ground (except I think it was stopping where it suddenly pops up very fast and down again)
I'm not sure if I can move the bone either as it probably is important for how jolteon looks.
I will try changing the ThrowN now...
maybe I should mention, none of the bone names are the same in jolteon as in ivysaur

Does Jolteon walk right?
And you could use psa to make the bubble bigger.
Not sure how you mean, I have no animations yet, and Jolteon doesn't move when you press right while on the ground except for the small movement the tap causes.
Okay, but I'd still need to move the shield to a more fitting position I think. I'm not sure which bone to move at all. Is it named something special for other characters?
12  Help & Tutorials / Help / Re: NO! My SD Card Deleted Itself! on: June 24, 2010, 04:54:06 AM
so if it really is empty, no files there, fully accessable but nothing on it, there's nothing you can do, is it?
I had an sd card that nothing could read which was working before. I managed to retrieve all the files from it.
If that's how it is for you too I might know a program that could help but if the sd card is empty you can't do anything I think...

hi, I have a couple of problems of which I believe two are simple to solve but I don't know how to myself...

I've started working on my jolteon again, I've got rid of shiny thing and resized it. I had to use bone add when I put the model over ivysaur.

The shield is very tiny and when you try to walk you get stuck in ground. Also grabbing edges is acting odd, you get up right away and sometimes (at least before) you teleport to middle of stage or outside the boundry killing you instantly.

This has something to do with the bones, right? So what do I do? Move 'em? Resize? and how do I know which one to do what with? or could I like, psa it to attach the properties to other bones?

Sorry to bring topic up again, but I started testing solutions again.
I think I've fixed this problem, though if there is another way I would like that.
I removed a palette and now no more shiny layer but Jolteon is a little too dark. Well I guess I could light up the textures if I find no other way.

Someone could explain why the palette makes it all shiny and tell me if I could solve this another way?

Also I got new problems but I guess I'll wait a while and make a new topic...

(Current problems are: shield too small, but I think thats just changing a bone. Shadow is looking like ivysaur, I guess I need a model but one without textures and stuff because that one freeze everything. And I wanna get the whole brres file from pokepark but no idea how to hex that)

EDIT: I must have done something more because now its shiny again... don't know how to fix it and game freezes for removing stuff it didn't freeze from removing before

EDIT2: I had to turn of the palette for the texture too. Now it works but I'm getting freezes in the main menu now :S

I think I had this problem before, if it's the same then going to my music on the stage will also freeze and then it means my music is messed up for some reason so you need to reset it.. there's a code for resetting my music.
Sry as I don't know where to find it...
Try to find it and see if it helps Smiley
