1  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / Re: A REAL Gengar hack? on: September 01, 2010, 01:01:12 PM
When I upgrade to Windows 7 (which I have been putting off on installing), I'll put my tablet to work, and I can colour/draw the texture. However, I'll need a vertex/model-maker...

Anyone good with model imports or vertex hacking?

2  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / A REAL Gengar hack? on: August 31, 2010, 08:32:13 PM
Hey everyone,

I'm not too good at texture hacking. I'm told I'm beast at art, but my BrawlBox is malfunctioning.

So I was wondering... Would a Blastoise cover-over Gengar be possible?
I'm thinking, Gengar model import/vertex hack.
=============================================================
New PSA, all moves dark-attributed, ofcourse.

MOVES
B-Up: Hypnosis (lasts a bit longer, based on Jigglypuff's Sing)
B-Side: Shadow Punch (With the power of Charizard's Rock Smash, but not Kirby's Hammer)
B-Down: Shadow Sneak (kinda like MetaKnight's B-Down?)
B: Dark Void (stationary attack, but somewhat deadly), or Shadow Ball! (Easily jacked from Lucario.)

A-Up: Jumps up, small burst of darkness
A-Side: Just a Tackle-sort of thing, kinda like Ivysaur's A-Smash(side)
A-Down: Spins around, easily stolen from some character
A: Lick?

Jumps lightly, like Higgly or Kirbs. Moderate knockback.

If possible:
TAUNTS

Taunt: Grrs. Just like, Charizard-style, I suppose.
Side-Taunt: Eyes glow bright red
Down-Taunt: Flings tongue around

I'm sorry, I know I really shouldn't be asking for a texture like this, and I know I can't expect what I'm thinking of. I'm trying to learn right now, but my Vista doesn't work with BBv063d.

Hmm... That's odd. That's never happened to me or anyone I've heard about. You have .NET Framework v3.5 SP1 and a video card that supports OpenGL 1.1 or higher, right? You probably do, but I'm just making sure.

One more thing, is the Kirby model you are using as a base the original FitKirby00.pac (as in unedited) or one that has like a vertex hack or polygon removal?

It's a regular texture hack, no vertexing, removals, or palette (sp?) overload.
Foxxy's currently trying to help me though, so 's all good, thanks though.

Yup, BrawlBox. Making a texture for Kirby.

I'll try to preview the texture (in the correct and specified way), the preview window opens. All I get is a blank window, and even after waiting 20 mins, it didn't load, and I have a damn fast laptop. Click once on the blank screen, and I get the Vista message saying that the program is not responding; do I want to restart or close program?

Thanks

Haha, I would, and thanks for your help, but it'd take about 2 mins to upload to some server, etc.

Maybe if i linked you and then you did it tomorrow...?
Plus all I really want to know is how to fix it.

Thanks

Hey Foxxy,

Thanks for trying to help.
Yeah, I think I am. I'm clicking whatever subfolder is above the character .png's, and right-clicking, then clicking "Preview (Ctrl+P)".

Anything wrong? O__o

Oh, hey, n00b question right here!

Specifications:
-BrawlBox v0.63d
-AdobePhotoshop CS2
-Microsoft Vista (with updates)
-Brawl Minus v1.0 (NTSC)

I know the process to editing a texture. I exported what I wanted to change, modified them without renaming, replaced, and saved the texture as a .pac AND a .pcs.

Now, that didn't work, and then I found out about texture previews. I can't preview (it freezes) when I try to. No, I am not trying to preview the shadow. That I can do just fine. Other than previewing, a texture'll look fine, til I try it in-game and it doesn't show at all.

Yes, I named all the textures properly, and placed them in the correct folders.

Thanks in adv for any help you can provide

Huh. Funny how you can talk about an idea for a texture, but when you talk about textures overall, you never get answered. It's the people like us who gots ideas but can't put them in motion.

(That's probably why there are so few good textures/PSAs out there.)

I've also heard of fines up to $500, depending on how hacked your Wii is. Usually Brawl Minus is simply deleted, and your Wii wiped, but if you were hacking the Shop Channel, or basically pirating their paid software, then yeah, you can get fined.

Hey Silver,

There is currently no known way to get around this. However, I do know of a seventeen-step downgrade from Menu v4.3 that has a 30% chance of bricking your Wii.

Sorry, got off-track. No, a method of hacking around the force-upgrade has not yet been developed. ...Yet.

Sorry for the useless post.

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if you could help me with MY problem (sorry to post random here), but I'm running BrawlBox v0.63d on Windows Vista, with Microsoft.net installed, and when I run BrawlBox I can't preview or use the actual texture. I did the .pcs and .pac, and used Adobe PS CS2 to edit the .png's. Can anyone help?! D:

Well, I'm pretty new too, but I know that you probably need the .pcs file too, for your custom texture. Also, make sure you're not checking the shadow of Wario, (the lower option to preview) as opposed to the actual preview (the upper version)

I've just started using BrawlBox, and I could use some help. I'm currently running BrawlBox vo.63d, but when I try to preview my texture (note, this is the texture, not the shadow), all I get is a white screen, and one more click, *WHAM* Not responding.

Also, I'm not stupid, I know how to edit a picture, and to export a .png out, edit, then replace.

After I've changed what I wanted, I saved it as a .pcs, as well as a .pac file.

I put both files in the correct folder (private>wii>app>RSBE>pf>fighter>kirby), and named it Fit<Character>0X,
but when I try to use it in-game, (Brawl Minus v1.0), I get the default costume. Can anyone help? I'm dying here.

Thanks,
GoingDigital
