1  Help & Tutorials / Help / Making a weapon appear, and then vanish after usage on: February 11, 2014, 03:53:57 PM
Hi!

A lot of you may or may not remember me from my BattleToad PSA. And if you don't, well, that's OK. But I'm temporarily coming out of retirement for one more job, but first I need some PSA pointers. My first one? Weapons, and how to make them appear, than DISappear.

You see, my hack will be Captain Falcon over Fox, but I still want the B button move (The Blaster), to remain the same. I figure the best way to do this was to have the blaster show up when it's used, then go away when it's no longer in use. But how would I pull this off? In-depth coverage would be much appreciated.

Thanks!  Wink
2  Help & Tutorials / Help / [SOLVED] Making/Getting/Creating/Whatever An ISO WITHOUT being a pirate... on: January 22, 2014, 06:04:21 PM
I'm trying to preview my hacks in Dolphin. The only problem is that I lack the Brawl ISO. I tried going to YouTube for tutorials on how to create your own or get one or whatever, but they all link to torrents. I ain't taking that risk, so is there a tutorial that exists somewhere here or elsewhere on how to get a Brawl ISO?
3  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / BattleToads: The Final Frontier...I mean, The Final Release!! on: August 31, 2013, 09:40:40 PM

They're done! They're finally done! I never have to worry about it again!!!

...OK, That's a lie, but still! No more grabbing glitch, no more throwing glitch, no more freezing whatsoever, the toads are ready to rumble!

You may wonder why I didn't upgrade to Aafyre's latest model for the toads...Well:

A) I didn't feel like going through all the model importing trouble and risk screwing everything up again.
and B) The Toads' feet in the DK model have certain bones which make it possible to pull off the transforming boot moves.

If you want to go and update the model, that's fine with me. Just get the OK from KJP and ShadowMarth.

Special Attacks:

B: Kiss My Fist - An Enlarged Falcon Punch.

B Side: BT BattleHammer - The toad slams his opponent into the ground with his fist transforming into what looks like a giant mallet.

B Side Aerial: Skull Buster - An unaltered Ganon Aerial Side B.

B Up: Toad Teleporter - Ganon's Up B WITH A TWIST! The Toad will vanish while its up in the air and reappear if it catches somebody!

B Down: Stompin' Time!! - The Toad punishes his opponent by stomping his opponent into the ground with a Big Bad Boot. If done in the air, it's the same as Ganon's Down B, but the foot is still a boot!

There's also a couple of extra goodies in the A Button moves. I'm just too lazy to list them.

A Few....Let's call them "Stnanks", of what to expect:

* The BT BattleHammer move, if done by a ledge, will immobilize the toad until they're hit again.
* The forward and backwards throw do not send the opponent in the appropriate direction.

But overall, these flaws are minor and in no way screw up the game by freezing it or whatever. If you want to fix these stnanks and release it to the Vault, once again, be my guest. Just ask and give credit to me, KJP and ShadowMarth.

Also, on a minor note, I'm retiring from Brawl Hacking, since I was never very good. Which is a shame, because I really wanted to get started on Earthworm Jim. Alas, I lack the time and patience to be with the gods of Brawl Hacking like SDo0M, BeyondYou, and of course, my once good friend (whom probably forgot about me), KingJigglypuff. So, thanks for all the fun over the years. I'll still pop by the Vault every now and then, just not as often as I did in, say, 2011.

So thank you, enjoy, give credit if you fix any of the minor stnanks, and finally, if you want a video of the toads in action, please don't ask me as I have closed down my YouTube account.
4  Help & Tutorials / Help / BrawlBox Will NOT Save Chages Made to Common5.pac on: June 05, 2012, 08:03:20 PM
I've tried all day to add a new stage to my roster, and the Common5.pac just flat-out REFUSES to cooperate. It'll always force-close just as I go to save it.

I'm at my wits end. What do I do?
5  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Attacks and Animations / BattleToads PSA - Guess What? IT'S FINALLY DONE!! on: May 31, 2012, 02:25:04 PM
Yes, I kid you not! Me and ShadowMarth are finally complete with the what may seem to be the longest PSA to ever finish!

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=19008&Moderated=All

Item-Grabbing glitch is gone (Thanks, snoopy!), and while I'm still working in some areas in the throwing department, it still seems to be playable.

Feel free to ask me any and all questions! If you want to help in any way, whether glitch reporting, new move suggestions or someone willing to make us a Kirby Hat, don't hesitate to speak!
6  Help & Tutorials / Help / Item Glitch in need of fixing! on: May 26, 2012, 07:49:44 AM
Even though I've been following Snoopy's Model Swapping Guide to the best of my ability, I'm still having trouble! Grabbing items and opponents will still cause the game to freeze!

7  Help & Tutorials / Help / What happened to my Stage Select Screen? on: April 06, 2012, 08:22:55 PM
I double-checked everything: The MiscData[80] folder, the files within it, EVERYTHING! But now, every stage is labeled under "BattleField" (with the F-Zero symbol for some reason...). This makes it EXTREMELY hard to determine which stage is which?

Also, I can't even save the settings in my Common5. BrawlBox just downright REFUSES to save it.

What the heck happened?
8  Help & Tutorials / Help / Need help tweaking and adding animations in BrawlBox on: April 04, 2012, 08:30:57 PM
I'm using version 0.65c of BrawlBox.

This being said, I'm trying to do some animation tweaking to my BattleToads Hack. Only problem: after doing this, the program will glitch up, and force-close. When I re-open, I can't even fix what I did wrong!

The same thing happens after adding a new animation in place of another.

What do I do?
9  Help & Tutorials / Texture and Portrait Tutorials / How to Make Battle Portraits on: April 03, 2012, 03:38:44 PM
We all know how easy it is to make CSPs (heck, it's even easier with Riivolution). But what if that wasn't enough to satisfy you. Wouldn't you like to be reminded who you are as the battle goes on? Well, have I got the tutorial for you!

What you will need for this tutorial:

* A CSP made by you or anyone else, or an image from the internet (getting an internet image may take longer, however)
* A 48 x 56 Adobe Photoshop Document

And, uh...That's pretty much it.

GETTING STARTED:
First you need the image. Let's say we want to replace Pit's Image with one of Waluigi's. For this instance, I WILL NOT be using the already-made BPs that came with the hack, but instead be using...THIS:

STEP 1: Determining What You Want
Since the BP can only be 48 x 56, you'll first have to determine which feature of your picture you want. Since all I'm focusing on is Waluigi's Head and somewhat of his pose, my end result would look like THIS:

How did I do this? The ever-so-simple phase of shrinking the image in Adobe Photoshop.

STEP 2: Shrinking The Image in Adobe

Open up Adobe Photoshop (I use Version CS3), and click "File". From there, click "New". From there, you will be shown a box that looks like this:

Make sure the box matches the one shown here. Type in "48" for Width, and "56" for Height. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, make sure the "Background Contents" section is selected as "Transparent", as its the only way the game will read it without all the white space, which we will remove in our next step.

Now simply shrink the image to your desired size. It could be the head, the emblem of which the character has, whatever the heck floats your boat. Now about all that white space...

STEP 3: Removing The Unwanted Space

If your background is white, black or has some unnessicary backgrounds you want to berid of, use the "Magic Wand" tool in MS Paint. It looks like this:

Now enter a number between 0 and 255 in the Tolerence Section. I'd prefer staying low, somewhere around 45-60.

Now you can crop the unwanted space and delete it until it meets to your liking. Your finished result might look like THIS:

FINAL STEP: Inserting it in BrawlBox

All characters in Brawl follow a certain code. These are the codes for the Battle Portraits located in the "portrite" folder of the "info" folder:

InfFace001 - Mario
InfFace011 - Donkey Kong
InfFace021 - Link
InfFace031 - Samus
InfFace041 - Yoshi
InfFace051 - Kirby
InfFace061 - Fox
InfFace071 - Pikachu
InfFace081 - Luigi
InfFace091 - Captain Falcon
InfFace101 - Ness
InfFace111 - Bowser
InfFace121 - Peach
InfFace131 - Zelda
InfFace141 - Sheik
InfFace151 - Ice Climbers
InfFace161 - Marth
InfFace171 - Game and Watch
InfFace181 - Falco
InfFace191 - Ganondorf
InfFace211 - MetaKnight
InfFace221 - Pit
InfFace231 - Z-Suit Samus
InfFace241 - Olimar
InfFace251 - Lucus
InfFace261 - Diddy Kong
InfFace271 - PKMN Trainer
InfFace281 to InfFace301 - Charizard, Squirtle and Ivysaur, respectivly
InfFace311 - King DeDeDe
InfFace321 - Furry Goku (AKA Lucario)
InfFace331 - Ike
InfFace341 - R.O.B.
InfFace361 - Jigglypuff
InfFace371 - Wario
InfFace401 - Toon Link
InfFace431 - Wolf
InfFace451 - Snake
InfFace461 - The Hedgehog That Is Not Shadow  Im srs here

Since our prime target is to replace Pit, I'll open up file "InfFace221", right-click the original image in the "Textures" section of the file, hit "Replace", and locate the file to wherever I saved it, until finally, the image is swapped. Save what you fixed, and you're done. Congradulations, you made a Battle Portrait.

But what if you want to make the same thing, but for the various different colors that the character has? Well, That's for another day...in another tutorial...

I see what you did there ...
10  Help & Tutorials / Help / Adding Animations in BrawlBox on: February 05, 2012, 07:55:39 PM
I'm trying to replace an existing animation with another. Whenever I do this, BrawlBox gives an error and force-closes. I've occasionally avoided this, but when I do, select animations become missing and look strange when I click on them.

What do I have to do?
11  Help & Tutorials / Help / OK, NOW We Need Some Help! on: January 31, 2012, 04:52:38 PM
Me and ShadowMarth, as you know, are making a BattleToad Moveset over Ganondorf. At first, he couldn't grab items. Now, He can't grab PERIOD. We tried everything. Removing seemingly troublesome animations, playing around with the MotionPac, and hell, we even had to START FROM SCRATCH, and still get the same result!

Somebody PLEASE help us!

12  Help & Tutorials / Help / Help Previewing Sounds! on: December 17, 2011, 02:23:36 PM
I've followed all of Psycho's steps, and I'm STILL getting nothing...

I'm trying to Preview Falco's Sounds, but for some reason, after exporting and naming his file "[17F].rwsd" like I'm supposed to (minus the quotation marks, of course), His sounds do not appear. Instead, I find his FileNodeIndex at 0, whatever that means.

Please help me.

14  Help & Tutorials / Help / The Problem With Ganondorf! on: October 27, 2011, 07:42:32 PM
I know this has been addressed in A/A Help section, but I really didn't get a definitive answer of what to do.

Basically, I just got v0.65 of BrawlBox. I'm trying to fix up the animations of my BattleToad Hack so it can be ready for its final release. However, whether I load a custom animation or fix an animation that made defaultly, when I try to save, I get this message:

The given key was not present in the dictionary (along with tons of lines of numbers and junk)

So, yeah. I know something's wrong. To make matters worse, I don't even get a chance to fix it. It force quits whenever I try to undo or fix whatever it is I did wrong.

What do I do now?
15  Help & Tutorials / Help / NEW BattleToads MotionPac - Testers Needed! on: October 24, 2011, 06:04:25 PM
As you know, The BattleToads PSA project was started by me, but couldn't be where it is today without the helpful work and guidance of people like Aafyre, diegoforfun, KingJigglypuff, Snoopy, and MANY, MANY more. I recently made a few tweaks to the MotionPac. Here is the link:

http://www.mediafire.com/?8rp92jbfrdj9wbb

So far, the following things are noticable:

* Cannot use items that can be held or the game will freeze. (This may be due to my new WaitItem Animation...)

* No .PAC files, meaning in Classic and All-Star Mode, will transform into a drugged-up Ganondorf.

* Games Freezes After Using A Throw.

* Probably A Few More...

Besides these factors, I need to see how the toads turned out in this latest release I made of the MotionPac.

And, if you'd be so kind, tell me what I need to do to fix some of the problems listed above...
