Dammit what the hell, I need some help. Someone collaborated me and now I've got freakin collab download and collab download count. I just took my name off of that hack and put it as credit. But the download count is still on my freakin vault...
I put them on my alt's vault. Gonna change the name back to Linketsu on there. It's currently The Dusk Mage. Post Merge: October 24, 2012, 01:29:41 PMWhat does everyone think of a Luigi's Mansion that once destroyed never repairs for the rest of the fight? But it's much harder to destroy? I think it sounds fun.
For me I am pretty much strictly PSA. I've tried animating, just small things really and I spent over 10 hours just getting Link to dual wield and hold his other sword naturally. Then the same day I finished someone else releases their own dual wielding Link and I just throw mine out. So without a doubt, animating is extremely difficult to master. In case of Brawl it's even harder because you don't want your animations to look too smooth or it won't fit in with the game, but if it ends up rough and choppy that also won't fit in. (unless you want a Wario type character)
I've tried texturing stages and that wasn't too difficult if you swap, but I could say differently for completely custom made textures. I'm not at all artistically talented enough to texture anything naturally, and a great texture has to start as a great idea. Even if your detail is astounding the colors have to go well together and the patterns need to make sense for the character or stage design that they're on.
PSA isn't too hard for me though I could only claim being at most an amateur at it. I understand the basics easily, and some of the other things like placing graphics on bones, but it is pretty time consuming. I spent a pretty long time altering a PSA just to get Link to have a specific type of Arrow. Then there were numerous bugs when messing with certain subactions that just makes fixing them all take longer than actually making the hacks.
So... for what I've tried the most difficult would be...
^^Point taken, though I couldn't consider 100+ as a lot. Personally I'll be happy when one of my hacks hits 500 downloads. Either way, I guess people just want different characters no matter the quality then. I mean look at the Sephiroth psa, the newer models look great but the animations..
Anyway, sorrry about that whole off topicness. I guess a quality control thing could work, though i have no idea how.
Ah sweet then. Well, i may be late but from what I saw about the whole topics thing with ratings. I sort of think the number of downloads acts as a ratings system. I mean no one would get thousands on a single hack unless it's either really good, or the best version (at the time) of a really popular thing. I don't think anyone would be desperate enough to download their own hack hundreds or thousands of times.
However, if there were to be a system, it could be using stars AND a description as to why you rated it how you did. Which the rating reviews could then be looked over by moderators or whatever before approved. Pretty much like when a person gets moderated. I think it could work similar to ZFGC's Karma changing system. It prevents abuse but it also sounds like a ton of work.
It's more of a personal thing really. I think it's more organized (for me.) Honestly, the why doesn't matter as much as the can I do it? and resubmit? Alright then.
