Immediately after I click any mode that requires you to select your character, like Training Mode and Vs. Mode, it freezes before I even get a glimpse of the CSS. I spent a long, annoying time experimenting with removing and restoring my files and I came to the conclusion that it's definitely a problem with my sc_selcharacter.pac, but it's only 3.48 MB, so I don't understand why it freezes if I add more stuff and it still stays at 3.48 MB? And no none of the files were incorrectly made or corrupt. Also, can a sc_selcharacter.pac become corrupt and cause a freeze if edited too much? Because sometimes I feel it freezes because I replaced too much stuff in such little time.
After more experimenting it seems if I add any new CSP text, like Naruto text replacing Ike's for example, it will crash before even loading the CSS. The game runs fine if I don't replace any CSP text. The text was "Save As..."ed from KC:MM to my Desktop, and it's a 13 KB PNG file which should work because my Zero one did. What am I doing wrong?
PAC. files? I didn't see any pacs for them could that be the problem?
There's your problem. You need to download the FitName.pac, FitName00.pac/pcs and FitNameMotionEtc.pac files for each character. You can get them from the Data Partition download in the Resources section.
What do I have to do to make them look exactly like the others? I use the LeviBrush font and 144x24 size, but I don't know what to do after that. What do I have to do layers-wise, what size does it need to be, what aliasing does it need, etc.; I need to know all this because I tried it with no idea in my head what I had to do and the font appeared all rough, fat, and was aligned to the left instead of the center when I viewed it in BrawlBox. I use GIMP by the way.
@DrPanda: I'm not following you at all. Clean off what outline? Blur what edges? And what do you mean use layer properties? Remember in the OP I stated I'm a super noob with GFX so try to explain this stuff in laymans terms to me. I'm sorry but I just don't know that much about GFX making and whatnot (but I know some).
A tablet is like a mouse that you use a pen for. It's basically like...well it's kind of hard to explain. Basically it's like a stylus, which makes drawing much easier for the computer. It's how I do half of my textures.
and how do i do that? (sorry i only know how to change the brawl music :/)
Download a .thp file from the Brawl Vault that you want and put it on your thing. I don't have Riivolution so I don't know where it goes and all that, I just know that's the file you need. Sorry
Well I did do that. I set mine to 00 because I'm using Phantom Wings' Stage Expansion Code. Well Eternal Yoshi's edited code to be exact. I just hope I did this all right. :p
I don't know if it will work because I tried converting a stage's .rel to make it compatible with the SRE but it didn't work. I don't know if it was an error on my part or what.
I know is not yet perfected either so that may be the case. At least I know the basic Idea of it now and the file names. Thanks for all your help! Is there anything else I need to know?
Yeah that's true I guess.
No problem; glad to help.
Uhh no that's pretty much all you need to know in regards to .rel conversions without the use of a program that does it for you like Bero's.

So I downloaded HxD. Can I use any old random stage .rel? I'll open it in HxD, find the 38 A5 00 00 38 80 00 XX and replace the XX with 01, correct? Than just put it on my SD Card? Am I actually right...?
You can open any single .rel file in existence with that program. Even ones that aren't stages.
01 is the ID number for Battlefield; do you want to convert your .rel to a Battlefield one?
After you replace the ID number, save the file as "st_XXX.rel", XXX being the name of the stage you want the .rel to be. So it'd be "st_battle.rel" if that's what you're trying to convert to.
I couldn never understand Hex...do you know the way to do it with Bero's program? I've used it before and it worked fine for me.
You don't really have to understand it. All you have to do is find this string of hex: 38 A5 00 00 38 80 00 XX within the file, where XX is the stage's ID number. Just replace that with the ID of the stage you want to switch it to. That's it. A list of all the stage ID numbers and more information, go here.
But no; like I said, I can't get Bero's Stage Switcher to work because of the weird non-sense errors it gives me. This forced me to learn how to hex edit .rels myself (which is probably basically what Stage Switcher does anyway), so that's the only method of converting .rels I know how to do.
