How should I make one? Should I use Bero's rel program? Oh and I appreciate the help guys! But I just need to know what to do...
You could also use HxD to hex edit the .rel. I could never get Bero's Stage Switcher to work for some reason. It would always say "could not find file 'rel/", so I just switched to HxD and that works fine.
To edit the vertices of a character you vertex hack it. Read this guide.
That looks way too complicated; I'll just leave that alone.
It's not, just go slowly step by step. I can help a bit if you want.
No it's fine. I have no interest in vertex hacking right now. I just enjoy the hacks others make here. Maybe I'll come back here in the future if I ever want to start making my own, actually good hacks.
Ok, basically get your eraser brush and carefully remove the white outline from around the logo. Then either using a smudge or blur tool, go around the very edges of it.
Now, somewhere on your screen should be a layers tab. On this select the layer with the logo on it and change the mode. You can scroll through these until you find one which nicely blends the logo into the texture (I can't really explain layer properties very well...)
Also, This topic should have really gone into the help section (Unless you are going to turn this into a texture showcase thread)
Whatever; I'll figure something out. Thanks for trying to help, though. I'll try the layer thing, though.
I tried something different this time; I copied a bigger circle and pasted it over the white one so I could cover the shadows too, which I believe are the main problems. I set the blur rate to 100 -- the highest it goes -- and when you zoom out it looks really good. You can still kind of see traces of edit, but it looks a lot better than any of the images above.
I think the problem is the shadows and such. When I copy somewhere else on his hat that doesn't have the same shadow as the white area it's not going to look right no matter what I do. No matter how much I blur it still looks like a sticker or something because you can see the edges of the circle; it doesn't look like it's part of the hat, it just looks like someone put a sticker to cover the "L" and the white circle it's in.
Also, how do you produce high quality textures? I've seen some custom textures with unbelievable HD textures.
Well then I guess a mod can move this topic. I figured since it was about texture hacking it would go in the texture hacking thread; it's only common sense.
@DrPanda: I'm not following you at all. Clean off what outline? Blur what edges? And what do you mean use layer properties? Remember in the OP I stated I'm a super noob with GFX so try to explain this stuff in laymans terms to me. I'm sorry but I just don't know that much about GFX making and whatnot (but I know some).
Also, how does one go about bringing a topic to attention without bumping? My topic wasn't even a day old and it's on the second page already; now no one will ever see it. What should I do if this happens?
You'd have to bump it then. >_>
If it's a hack topic, you have to try making things interesting enough to keep people posting. If it's a request, hope it's something a lot of people want or something someone wouldn't mind making.
But I thought the rules said you can't bump if it's not contributing to the topic.
Also, it's none of the things you said; all my topics are usually help topics. And I know people know the answers to them, they just probably don't feel like answering or the people that know the answers aren't lurking that board a tthe right time.
I know that in Photoshop, there's a tool called "Patch" where you set a source and drag to get the source in another area. It kinda blends in with the colors.
That's...basically what I did lol. I copied somewhere else on Luigi's hat that's green (source) and then I dragged it over the "L" in the white circle (getting the source in another area).
I'm trying to make Luigi's hat have the Philadelphia Eagles logo on it instead of the L. You can tell by the picture I provided in the spoiler that you can clearly see I placed a big green circle over the white area. What I did was I just selected a big circular green chunk elsewhere on Luigi's hat about the same size as the white area. I then copied and pasted this new green circular chunk over the white area to blank out Luigi's hat so I could put the Eagles logo on it.
I also had to do the same thing for my Mario texture here.
What I'm asking is for advice that I could make this look natural like Luigi was made with the logo on his hat and you couldn't tell that someone edited his hat. I'm a super noob with GFX so I'd appreciate it if you try your best to help me understand how I could get this to work. I've been told to use the Blur tool but that never does anything.
Here's a screenshot:
Also, speaking of that, does anyone know how I'm supposed to tell what part of this picture represents which part of Luigi's clothes? Why are they all piled up together like this?
Oh I figured that's what they were. How do you get that stuff into Advanced Model Editor or whatever? What are vertices and how would you edit them to achieve that Lucario in the first picture?
I can no longer delete my topics. Is this something new that was just implemented into the forum recently?

lol rly? the Wii is technically unbrickable, you have to be really dumb and really go way off track on the instructions to even do anything to it, and even then, with a back up you can restore everything up.
btw can you post the disable custom stages code so I can add it in the op?
I'm still not taking any chances. When I was installing Stack Smash I got a message that said my system files were corrupt after I started up Brawl. That should be a sign to you right there that I suck with hacks and shouldn't be trusted with them. Besides, Stack Smash satisfies me; I can do without custom stages. Most of these hacked ones are way better than what you could create with that mode anyway lol.
So, both of you load homebrew through the stacksmash method...I see, it now makes sense. Why not just install homebrew?
Because I don't want to damage my Wii. Knowing how long it took me to set up Minus with just this method (which is easier) and how much of an extremely hard time I had doing it, god knows what will happen if I actually hack into my console itself. I don't want to risk screwing up my console; I have too much to lose.
I guess I did it right because I saved the icons and previews exactly as you said and I tried it out in-game last night and they appeared beautifully. Only problem is the icons are a tiny bit bigger than the normal stage icons, which is weird because these custom icons are 64x56... But it's not really noticeable anyway and they look like they were made in the game.
What exactly is "MenStageSwitch" for, though? And I don't believe I have a MenuRule.pac, either.
Well I can't answer your Riivolution questions as I don't have it, but I'm pretty sure Gecko has limits, but your issue with the songs freezing after the stage with only 18 songs is probably due to something else. I have about 56+ songs on mine and I never get freezes.
