1  Help & Tutorials / Help / Need help getting Brawl Minus set-up with Dolphin emulator on: November 11, 2016, 03:55:57 PM
Hello everyone, I used to frequent these forums about six years ago, made mods and such, then I lost general interest for a while. Well, here I am again, re-interested, but this time, since I no longer have my Wii, I am using a Brawl ISO with the Dolphin 4.0 emulator.

Because of the fact I have been out of practice for six years, I have forgotten almost everything about how to mod with Brawl Minus. So, my question is, how can I get my Brawl Minus to work on my Dolphin emulator, the same way that it did on my Wii? I have done the SD.raw editing with WinImage and inserted my files into the sd.raw with it in the same structure they were when it worked for my Wii. I got Gecko OS to work as well and launch the game through it, Dolphin's SD card is inserted, etc., but despite all of this Dolphin still just loads everything as vanilla.
2  Help & Tutorials / Help / Brawl- hacks loading along with Project:M on: February 10, 2011, 08:22:27 PM
I run the Project:M Demo XML with Riivolution, but it also loads my Brawl Minus main menu, textures and music along with Project:M's CSS, SSS, GCT, results screen and strap loader.

Why is it loading both? Can I not have more than one different set of hacks on the same SD card? For example, two 'fighter' folders that contain completely different hacks in each to cater to their respective codeset that gets loaded?

My projectm folder is in SD card/pf, which is the same folder all my Brawl Minus hacks are in.
3  Help & Tutorials / Help / Game froze randonly mid-match last night on: February 05, 2011, 10:05:57 AM
I played several different 15-stock Brawls last night all with no problems. Then when I went to play on Mewtwo2000's Facility stage (a Stage Roster Expansion stage), it was fine for a minute or so, then the game froze after a character got on a Warpstar, and no, the warpstar is not the cause of the freeze because it has been used before without freezes; this is the first time.

The characters in my battle were not the causes for the freeze either because I've used all of them before. I don't remember who was in the fight, but I know I was being Zero (Link PSA), Overlord Ganondorf (Ganondorf PSA) was Player 4, and black and red Wolf texture was in the match. I don't remember who the other computer was.

The stage also is not the cause for the freeze because I've played on it several times before and it was fine. So what the hell could have caused this?
4  Help & Tutorials / Help / My stage is now pitch black with a rainbow dot in the center [SOLVED] on: January 31, 2011, 04:24:30 PM
I had the stage working, then when I came back to the computer and deleted all of the Final Destination animation data and resized my foreground model, this very weird thing happened:

That is a miniature picture of my stage above that colored dot.

The stage is supposed to look like this:

5  Help & Tutorials / Help / How do you get photos from your Wii memory to your SD card? [SOLVED] on: January 31, 2011, 03:19:43 PM
I use Riivolution so it doesn't allow me to save snap-shots to my SD card, so I had to save it to my Wii. These snap-shots are previews for my stage I made, but I don't know how to get them onto my SD card so I can upload them to here. I don't even know where to locate them.
6  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / Portraits, Menus, (etc...) / (spect)acular CSPs and stuff (no requests) on: January 26, 2011, 03:33:44 PM
This is just a little showcase for all the CSPs, CSIs, SSPs and SSIs that I have made to compliment the actual hacks they represent.

Just a heads up, my rendering skills aren't the best (I use the magic wand in GIMP), plus the black skin of this forum really brings out the white lines of the badly rendered ones, however I can assure you they do not look nearly as badly rendered in the game.

I also provided each portrait with a link to its respective hack, so just click on the image to be taken to the hack it's for.

7  Help & Tutorials / Help / Two questions in regards to CSPs and such {ANSWERED] on: January 25, 2011, 08:23:29 PM
-Why do we need to index our CSPs and such? What happens if we don't?

-Is it ok if I start using TarGa files now instead of PNG? What is the RLE compression thing that GIMP asks me to do, and what should I have it set as? It's set to "Bottom Left" by default, but I have no idea what that is.
8  Help & Tutorials / Help / Hanenbow has no tracklist...? [SORTA SOLVED] on: January 25, 2011, 04:37:53 PM
I'm porting a Final Destination-based stage (Stone Tower) over to Hanenbow, but as I was looking through my tracklist, I couldn't find Hanenbow's tracklist anywhere. I even did a CTRL+F find, and still nothing. So how does one put custom music over Hanenbow? Or will I just have to choose a different stage to port this hack over?
9  Help & Tutorials / Help / What font is this? on: January 24, 2011, 06:47:54 PM
Does anyone know what font this is? It's used for vBrawl and the BSP portraits.

Because I want to replace Link's name with Zero, Meta-Knight with Gray Fox, etc.
10  Help & Tutorials / Help / .....What just happened?? on: January 20, 2011, 08:37:17 PM
So I'm playing Brawl through Riivo while having a RiiFS server running, pause the game and edit a CSP, then when I exit the match and get to the CSS, the Wii stops making the whirring noise and then I get this message:

"An error has occurred. Please eject the disk and turn the power off. Read the manual for more information."

Now that's not word-for-word because I don't really remember what it said (I have a terrible memory) but that's pretty close to what it said and I believe you could still get the point regardless.

So anyone know what happened? This has never happened to me before.
11  Help & Tutorials / Help / Game freezes silently if I chose a stage from the Stage Roster Expansion[SOLVED] on: January 19, 2011, 10:58:27 PM
I used to always be able to play on Stage Roster Expansion custom stages with Gecko, but now that I switched to Riivolution it freezes with no beep whenever I try to play an SRE stage. Sad

Any help?
12  Help & Tutorials / Help / Installing Riivolution on my Wii -- is it safe? on: January 19, 2011, 10:39:14 PM
I've been loading Riivolution through Smash Stack because I'm afraid of installing any kind of unauthorized hacking stuff on my console. I'm afraid it will get screwed up and I will eventually kill my Wii and lose all my data. My SD card already got killed from using it with the file patch code, so I don't really trust this stuff so much anymore.

So I want to know if it's safe to use the "Install" feature on Riivo to install it onto my Wii. I have version 4.3U, or whatever the latest version is since I update whenever there updates. Will Riivo still work as a channel regardless of the version of my Wii? Will my Wii get bricked or screwed up in anyway? I just want it on my Wii so I don't have to use Smash Stack to load it anymore.
13  Help & Tutorials / Help / CSS and SSS freeze randomly; sometimes they don't freeze, too. on: January 19, 2011, 03:23:16 PM
This has never happened to me before. I'm using Riivolution and my game will freeze at totally random times. First it froze at the CSS, then the SSS after I picked a custom stage.

It shouldn't be freezing anywhere because I have everything set up properly and I can use these hacks, it's just that Riivo is being retarded and chooses totally random times to freeze. None of these hacks are faulty or bad.

The game has never froze in the middle of a match or anywhere else, though; it only is doing the random freezing at the CSS and SSS. I haven't done anything different to my common5.pac that would cause the game to freeze; it has pretty much everything the same from when it worked in Gecko.
14  Help & Tutorials / Help / How do I stream my hacks using RiiFS? on: January 19, 2011, 01:35:01 PM
I'm pretty sure I have everything set up right but I just don't understand why when I place hacks in my RiiFS folder while having my RiiFS C++ server and Brawl- running, that hack won't appear in the game.

I have two "smashmods" .XMLs, placed in my 'riivolution' folder on both my SD card and my computer's RiiFS folder in my C drive. I also have two "riifstemplate" .XMLs in the same places and configured them with my IPv4 address. I open up RiiFS C++ server and it says this: "RiiFS C++ Server is now ready for connections on 0.0.0.0:1137" and stays like that until I start up Riivolution, then the server says it's connected and then starts entering all of this "return" crap very fast, about five times per second, so I know I have the connection right at least.

Also, this is what my riifstemplates both look like:

Quote

    <wiidisc version="1">
        <!-- id is optional, omit it in order to make Riivolution connect to the server regardless of the game inserted in the drive. -->
       <id game="RSB" />

        <!-- address may be an IP address or a hostname/domain. -->
       <network protocol="riifs" address="(my IPv4 address here)" port="1137" />
    </wiidisc>

With RiiFS and Brawl- running, I did a test by adding a Ness texture -- FitNess03.pcs -- to my pf/fighter/ness folder (I edited both smashmods.XMLs to have the FPC file layout) in my RiiFS folder, then when I selected Ness's blue costume in the game he didn't have the texture; he was just in his normal blue costume.

Why can't I stream hacks?
15  Super Smash Bros. Brawl Hacking / General Hacking Discussion / Riivolution and Homebrew -- what's the difference? Which is better? on: January 18, 2011, 09:42:08 PM
I've always wanted to know which one is better and what they differ from each other.

I'm currently running Riivo off of Smash Stack.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
