Mine is 1.15 MB and it freezes before even loading the SSS. I had to take off my Ganon's Tower SSI and SSP I made last night (to go with Mewtwo2000's Ganon's Tower stage), and it resolved the problem.

1.14MB is the limit. Reduce it by posterizing and minimizing the max number of colors for the thumbnails. Mines like 1.12MB or something.

I just have to change the icons a bit? I can leave the previews alone? Anyway, thanks for the help. So I should just open all my custom pictures up in GIMP, index them with less colors, and I should be good to go?

Previews and names are fine. Just reduce the colors in the thumbnails and you're good to go.

Oh alright then. Yeah pretty much all my SSIs are indexed with 256 colors. I'll just reduce it to 200 maybe, I don't know. Or I'll just change only the Ganon's Tower one, and if I add any more stages I'll just have to degrade other SSIs.

I'll just have to degrade other SSIs. It's not nice to hurt the stage icons' feelings. /end irrelevant post

I think I have the colors of my thumbnails under 100 colors. I mean, you aren't gonna be zooming in on the thumbnails and expect perfect quality.

I replaced all my old icons with new ones indexed at 100 colors that are about a whole kilobyte smaller in size, yet my selmap's file size hasn't even budged a BYTE. In fact, it increased my selmap's size by 3 KB. Why? Size before indexing all my icons: 1.15 MB (1,21 2,521 bytes) Size after indexing all my icons to 100 colors and replacing old icons with them: 1.15 MB (1,21 5,742 bytes) (+3 KB) Exporting the entire MiscData[80] and putting them on a fresh new selmap: 1.15 MB (1,21 2,521 bytes) (-3 KB but still not reducing past 1.15 MB) Tell me how reducing quality of an image increases file sizes?

Have you posterized your images? It reduces the colors even more. GIMP does have an option for posterizing.

I don't think it will make any difference because these new icons are about 1+ KB smaller than before. Even without posterizing it should have decreased the file size by at least 12 KB (I have 12 icons and each are 1+ KB smaller than before). I'll try it anyway, though. What should I posterize it to? Like the rate? Also, is it ok that I keep editing the same icons and reducing their sizes? Edit: I'm sorry, about this post, I was mislead. My SD card told me my sc_selmap.pac was 1.15 MB, but yet it did not freeze the game. This was the file with all the indexed at 100 colors icons. I think my SD card is in dire need of defragmenting, as I've had it for about three years and never once did it. It's getting senile.

Huh, so you say your SD card says 1.15MB, yet it didn't freeze? Maybe you should defrag.

I downloaded Smart Defrag 1.50, and it said my SD card (drive F) only has three fragmented files -- a FitSnake and FitLuigi MotionEtc.pac and a FitLuigi.pac -- out of 471 total files and directories. It also said I had 0.38% fragmentation. I just defragged it, though. It didn't fix the issue of my file saying it's 1.15 MB. So, defragmenting complete but did not fix anything (just as I thought); what else would you suggest?
