so, they fitcharacterdark.pac files must be the emerald files from SSE, but how do we make them change colors? when edited, the texture is just grey. is it possible to make custom emerald textures change color? how?

I've noticed that. The textures ARE called emerald textures after all, so they should be green like in SSE! When you use the code for emerald textures, they're green and change colors anyways. This makes me wonder, if we replaced the Fit[character]Dark.pcs files on the ISO with the default costumes, would they be color changing, green tinted normal textures?

You do realise those edge textures are just overlays onto the original textures. Its what tints them.

Okay here is how it works. The Fit__Dark files are only for the shine. The colors are not part of them. There is a different file in Brawl that has the colors that change. But those only effect fit__dark.pcs and when you play as a Emerald character the file is named Fit__XX.pcs

I tried replacing Pit's dark files with the original ones, but this only resulted in me fighting regular pit with no color tints.

You can modify more than just the edge texture parts for the Emerald textures.  Also, it's pretty wise to edit the Final Smash eyes so that they match the normal eyes of the Emerald texture.

    Examples

    My Cosmic Mario

    Marcov15's Cosmic Mario

When you look at those two textures, mine is more blue since I edited more than just the edge texture part.
