PSA Info Refresher: Return to Brawl Modding

Okay, there's a couple of questions of I have about PSA which I've forgotten the answer too.

For one, I know there are two different versions of PSA I should use (plus the Dante's mod, which I think is for... Dedede and the Pokemon trainer?), which are the two latest versions.

Which version do I use for which situation? If I recall correctly, the newest one can cause corruption problems, which can single-handedly take a dump on all of your hard work. For instance, when should I use the latest one, and when should I use the other one (I think it's v1.3 and v1.4)

Uhhh... any new updates on PSA? anything I should know since I stopped modding (which was about 2 months ago).
