If it's a 1 slot size mod it has to specify what slot it's for right? None of the mods that use them ever say what slot it's for

It's whatever you put the mod on.

One slot means you can put the mod over any color slot and it will only be for that color slot.

How it works is that the modder would use one of the less important bones from a character, re-size it to fit the size they want, then rename the bone so that the animations do not effect it keeping the size they want

DemonBoy explained it perfectly. The model itself has an edited bone (one example is Tormod's Dark Link, which has an edited YRotn bone which is renamed YDark I think.) and the FitMotionEtc.pac edits the YDark bone so that he can "teleport" and "disappear" in certain attacks.

Since it's an edit on that specific models bone, you can rename the file (For example: You have it over FitLink03.pac which is his red costume. You can rename it to FitLink05.pac and have it on his yellow costume) without worrying about the other Link costumes.

So to sum it up, you can have it over any slot. You just need to name it to the correct color/slot you want it to overwrite.

But this does NOT mean that you can have a Zero over Link hack (for example) and also have the 1-slot size mod and have both Link's moveset and Zero's.

So then the FitMotionEtc.pac doesn't actually contain the size mod?

The FitMotionEtc.pac DOES contain the size mod.

What exactly are you confused about?

I'm confused about how the FitMotionEtc.pac specifies what slot the size mod is for

like something in it that specifies the size mod is to only affect FitCharacter02.pac for example

the fit the FitMotionEtc.pac contains the animation files of a character, How all the bones move to create an animation.

The modder will re size a bone then rename it and add the bone to the animation files with the re-size they want.
since the renamed the bone it will only work for whatever color slot you put the mod on since the other color slots done have the bone name that the modder used

So the resized bone is only renamed in the FitMotionEtc.pac and the FitCharacter0X.pac that has the mod?

    kinda backwards there

The FitCharacter has a renamed bone and the FitMotion has the animations for that bone to be re-sized

If you have 2 mods with one slot size mods for the same character is there an easy way to rectify the 2 FitMotionEtc.pac's

    It somewhat possible.

what you would have to do is open one of the FitMotion files, find and add the remaned bone(s) animations to the other FitMotion.

It's somewhat possible because it could work but only if the FitMotion does not go over its size limit.
if it does then the game will freeze
