I need help taking out the name tags that are on the characters' icons on the CSS, the one you place the coin on.

Open the your common5.pac in BrawlBox, then go to:
sc_selcharacter_en -> MiscData[70] -> Textures (NW4R) and they start after MenSelchrChrNmS.000

I know where they are I just can't seem to be able to make them transparent, when I replace them by a transparent image I get a black image in game.

I down loaded someone elses sc_selcharacter and the person had them transparent, but seemed to achieved it in a different way since MiscData[70] was basically intact.

but anyways I really need to know how to do it on my own...

Hmm.. when you looked at the other person's .pac, did you extract the textures? Because if they were made transparent through the alpha channel you wouldn't be able to tell just by looking at them in BrawlBox.

how can i make them transparent thorugh the alpha channel?

Edit: So I transferred the guy's MiscData[70] to my sc_selcharacter and the name tags still show so he didn't edit MiscData[70] to remove them apparently.
