Hello, Kittens and Lurkers. It's been a long time since something of mine has made its way onto the Blog... Well it's time to fix that! Introducing the Raptor Public Demo Update! I'll give a rundown for those who don't follow my PSA thread...
In the first Public Demo, Raptor was a very underpowered character. Raptor suffered from quite a few things such as...
Poor attack range.
Poor attack knockback (distance opponents are sent back when struck by an attack).
Slow attacking speed.
Odd hurtboxes.
And low knockback resistance.
Well these are no longer issues! Raptor is back, and stronger than ever!
With increased attack range.
Increased attack knockback.
Increased attack speed.
A shrunken head hurbox. And more!
"More? What else did you do?"People who had the first Public Demo should know how slow and punishable Dash Attack was.
Well this issue is a thing of the past! Dash Attack's overall duration has been reduced by a decent amount. From 11 kicks to 3 kicks. Though you can now hold the A button in increase the move duration!
Now
you can punish foes who think they just dodged a poor move.
They'll also remove this sad excuse of a move.
This move gained a massive buff with a launching hitbox.
You can finally hit with this move more often now!
In addition to edited attacks, this move has gotten a complete makeover! For those who don't know much about this PSA, this attack is Side Special. It was initially Fox/Falco's Side Special with the Ability to angle. Well now, this move has gained a lot of utility.
The initial distance has been slighty decreased...
But now you can charge the move to gain more distance!
In addition to that, I have added more goodies to this majestic move!
You can interrupt with an Attack.
Or a Jump.
For those who did like the old Side Special, fear not! This move keeps the ability to angle!
You can interrupt with an Air Jump...
Or an Air Attack.
That's all for the Revamped moves.
"D:"But fear not! Raptor has some new moves!
"=D"The first new move is Up Special!
You can either simply hop (Animation is different from this image)...
Or charge for massive vertical distance.
What's that? Your foe is above you, and you think you won't make it in time?
Bam! Interrupt with an Air Attack!
The second new move is Down Throw! The throw starts with Raptor distancing itself from its victim a bit.
Raptor then grabs the victim's leg.
Drags them back.
Before rearing up and...
*Nom*
Whee~
The third new move is Forward Air! Raptor starts by rearing backward.
Before lunging out with a bite.
This move is poor onstage, but great offstage.
The fourth and final move is Up Throw! Blame Yoshi's proportions for this odd picture.
:IFlip Kick! Ignore the tail in this picture. It has been fixed since then.
Woosh!
You can interrupt early with an Air Jump.
And attack your victim while they're in hitstun.
Whew! That was a long post! Here are the change lists for each Alpha I've worked on since the first Public Demo release.
Alpha 1:
-Knockback increased for all attacks.
-Side Special reworked.
-Up Special added.
-Head hurtbox has been reduced in size.
-Knockback resistance increased.
-There was a glitch Raptor had that resulted it to access Down Special without needing to charge up after dying. This said glitch has been fixed.
Alpha 2:
-Down Throw added.
Alpha 3:
-Forward Air added.
-Dash Attack and Jab range increased.
-Air Mobility increased.
-Knockback Resistance slightly decreased to compensate for the Air Mobility buff.
-Running speed slightly increased.
-Decreased Knockback Growth for Neutral Air and Back Air.
Alpha 4:
-Up Throw added.
-Increased range for Neutral Air, Back Air, and Down Air.
Outside of Misc stuff (tripping, getting hurt, items, etc), Raptor is initially done. Though there is still much work to be done. This is likely the last demo before the final release.
But for now, you can download this PSA to add to your roster.
