Great work on Jack Skellington.  The figure itself is perfect.  Personally, I woulda made the mouth quite a bit bigger.  I think that massive smile that he puts on a lot of the time really characterises him.  But hey, that's just me.

I love the Jack Skellington, really great job! The only two things I would have done differently is give him a bigger smile (but that was already brought up) and make him over Ganondorf (or do a one slot size mod) because Jack is friggin TALL :p. Either way, I love it and I think it looks awesome already.

It would have probably been better on Ganondorf moveset wise aswell, but I don't think I could have done it well enough on him  :-\
I am going to do a One-slot size mod for him though... I just wanted to release it on Halloween :af:

Would it be possible to take Falco and make him more Kazooie-ish?  It could be a hybrid of kazooie and falco....like how she would appear in Star Fox (You can leave the coat and other features the same), or a more traditional kazooie (like how she appears below, but her torso does not need to be bent at a 90 degree angle).  Heck, why not both, if able?  

Mainly, I would like to see changes in his feathers and facial features through texture and vertex.

To eliminate the need to change feet of Falco, it would be just fine if Falco's boots became the "Turbo Trainers"  (Running Shoes power up) from banjo-kazooie and tooie.

There have been a couple of Dimentio hacks on Toonlink, so I was going to do it on someone else... More fitting.
I made base models for each of these to see if they were possible and decided on either Ness or Lucas for Dimentio ;D

Dimentio should clearly be done on Lucas or Ness. In fact they have special abilities, like him, and maybe we could recolor the attacks (IDK if it is possible) to make it even more "Dimentio like".

Anyway, what do plan on working on next?  Are you going to do Dimentio over Ness/Lucas, seeing as he was the runner-up in the poll, or are you gonna surprise us with something else?  I don't mean to be annoying, but after seeing how well Ibuki turned out, I'm really excited for your next hack!

About half way through doing Ibuki, I started working on Ragna The Bloodedge (http://www.techarena.in/files/image/guide/032010/BlazBlue_Calamity_Trigger_/Ragna_the_Bloodedge.jpg). That will probably be the next one I release ;D

Since that poll has finished, I came up with a lot of ideas for hacks... So I'm not sure what sure what I will do after Ragna :-\ But Dimentio is being worked on aswell...Slowly

Yeah, but it was made a while ago and doesn't follow the source material that much.  It's really just Ike with a few Dark attacks and some altered specials.

There is a quite few Blazblue and Guilty Gear hacks I would like to do...
I desperately want to do Taokaka and possibly Nu from Blazblue, And I want to do Sol and Jam from Guilty gear.
But with the exception of Sol, there isn't really a decent base character to put them on :-\

...And that Psa doesn't match Ragna much at all :P

I know that Rydia requested Lambda-11 over Peach/Zelda, so you're not the only one who wants some of these characters :laugh:

As for the others, I really can't think of who Tao and Jam would go over.  No character is really 'built" like Tao, and I'm not sure if anyone could get any of the girls hairstyles to match Jam's.

Zelda might work for Lambda/Nu but what could you make the blades out of?

Toakaka might work over Marth. The head could easily be made into a hood and I could use his sheath for the tail... But there isn't really anything I could make her hair out of :(

Jam would be overall pretty easy, but I know what you mean about the hair. That would be the only difficulty.

(Fun fact: I have only ever played Blazblue once :P)

I have quite a few requests to seive through, along with ideas of my own... So I've kinda got to organise them somehow. I'm thinking about making a 'wishlist' sort of thing for future hacks, But I'm not sure how that would work out yet.

I guess after you made hacks with vortexing you made pritty good ones so people want their requests forfilled so they  choose you, like with my request i choose you because i seen your work so i guess you gonna have alot of people asking you for requests so you pritty much booked.

I don't mind people aksing me to make certain hacks, it's just hard to sort them all out and evaluate them.

Some requests do get on my nerves though... There are people who have absolutely no will to do anything themselves, even if its something piss easy, they insist that I do it

From Sonic and The Black Knight she is Merlin's Granddaughter in the game and you could see from my randomnized Signature(Shows Normal form and Dark Queen form)and Avator(Normal form) that what she looks like in the game.

This is just a suggestion, but why not make Spear guy from Yoshi's island?(http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100531074349/fantendo/images/b/b1/Dancing_Spear_guy.png) Just replace the hammer and sword with a spear. It's just an idea though.

Trust me, the poll will change.  They always do.  His last poll had, I believe it was, Dimentio in front with Sol and Ibuki trailing slightly, but, by the end, Ibuki and Dimentio were tied for first and had left everyone else in the dust.

Petey - I think he would be easy to make big head and tiny body
Sol - I think some of the stuff he wearing is gonna be hard to vortex but might go smoothly

It won't be too bad doing both and i would love to see one become a winner though.

Well, you know who I want to win, so I'd be fine with you doing Sol before Petey, even if Petey wins.  Still, it wouldn't seem right to completely blow off Petey fans if he does win the poll.

Maybe if there's a tie you can do Sol before Petey, or maybe if it's like one or two votes off you can do Sol first, but if Petey wins in a landslide (which doesn't seem all that likely) you should do Petey first.

It isn't that I don't want to do Petey... It's just deciding which character to put him on.

Sol is an straight up Ike vertex, but I don't really think any of the Characters fit Petey moveset-wise. I have a fair few choices appearance-wise though.
As I see my choices for him are: Olimar, Yoshi, Ness, Peach (yes, Peach), ToonLink, and possibly even Kirby or Ice-Climbers :-\


Any which way, Someone is bound to be dissapointed with who I eventually put him on:(

Olimar has the biggest head relative to his body size, and he already has the plant-based moveset (even if they aren't Mario plants), so I'd say that you could do it on him.  Plus, he doesn't make any noise, which would be nice.  I can't imagine Petey saying "PK FIRE!!!!" or "This is fun!"

Still it's you're call, so put him over whomever you would feel to be the best fit.

Olimar was my first choice, he would need a major size-mod though

i have two possibly helps
1.-whats your operating system? windows 7,vista,xp,etc. i saw many problems come from that and you have to do something
2.-There are 2 possible ways to resolve this issue:

a.. Copy the acdb16.dll and acdb16enures.dll files from C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared to the program folder for the applicable
product.
b.. Change the Start in location for the applicable product's shortcut
icon to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk shared.

So, if you could find the missing file (AcDb16ENUres.xmx) in the Autodesk
shared folder, and copy it to your 3ds folder (where acad.exe is), it
might solve the problem.

Well, it's certainly fitting, though I can see it being hard to make out of a bat.  Also, some people may not know what they hell it is if it's not all that detailed.

I'd just go with a wand.  Seems to be the easiest.  But, it's your call.

I agree with Victory Badguy. And I was actually going to post that you should make it a wand/staff, with Dimetio's jester hat thingy on top.

In other words, make the wand into that, but instead of the skull, put like half a sphere, and color that like his face, and put his hat on top of it.

I didn't like how the sleeves looked and I was struggling to texture them so I decided to redo them... But because his sleeves are on the same vertex set as his legs, I have to redo them aswell (that shouldn't take me long though)
Texturing him seems to be the most challenging at the moment :-\

I want to release Ragna and Hazama together so I will probably put something lesser up before then ;)

i know u are a much better vertexer than me, but still ima say this:
did u vertex using an already edited texture to see if it will map ok? this can help alot, even if u use a character's original texture while modeling...

I didn't completely start over with Ragna I just re-did his sleeves because the looked too chunky and were difficult to texture :-\
I really don't think Hazama will take long at all, his design is quite simple and Marth is relatively easy to texture ;)

I make the texture the same time I do the vertexing, so then If I need to re-map any textures I can. Thats why I was struggling to texture him.
Part of his arms are mirrored but the rest aren't... My original sleeve vertex messed up the already edited texture map and I just couldn't correct it.
It all looks good now though :)

Right at the tipidy top of his shoulder, just beneath the seam that connects to the main jacket.

People with a keen eye will notice minor differences in his appearance compared to his official artwork(s).
I tried to make him as acurrately as possible but certain parts of his texture are damn near impossible to work on (Boot buckles in particular)

The cuffs and the upper part of the jacket should be left as a block colour or else the texture mapping makes them look all screwy. Similar thing with the plates on his upper arms... They stretch because of the animations.

You can make a recolour pack if you wish though... A V-Joe recolour does sound pretty interesting I'll give you that ;)

BlazBlue Continuum Shift has colors where all the shadows on the sprites become jet black, making them look like their are from Dark Horse Comics or Marvels most recent artwork on MvC3.

1. It's the texture I think needs touching up, not the vertex. You idiot.

2. I wouldn't release it as a separate hack because I am not a sheep like those fools who jumped on the Shadow Hack bandwagon just to get DLs not too long ago. I would offer it to Panda as an alternative texture. If he doesn't want it, that's fine with me. I'll keep it for personal use or just throw it away (seeing as it will have lost it's purpose).

I never really like how my hacks turn out in the end but this one is one of the exceptions... Especially because I thought it would look a lot worse than it does.

Ok, adressing the texture issue: I would like to improve the textures summore but it is very, very difficult to add the detail and get the textures to line up correctly.
The cuffs of the sleeves and upper jacket are block colour that fade into detail. I did this to better hide the fact that that the Texture mapping distorts the texture so much that it looks horrible. I would rather have them with lesser detail than messy detail.
The overall texture is still unfinished. I still need to add more depth to his second clothes and the sword mainly.
It is also quite a challenge to create realistic looking textures for a character who is normally rendered with very flat colours...
Even if I did make perfect textures, brawlbox would flatten them some when I import them anyway >.>
tl;dr - The texture mapping prevents overly high detailed everythings

I wouldn't mind. -but he'll probably end up getting a Color Mega Pack like Ragna.

Ragna's color pack will consist of all the colors from CS, and all his DLC colors as well.

Hazama (Terumi) will get the same treatment.

My only concern for Ragna's pack is the last color: The Comic Book-style one where all the shadows on his body are made pitch black, cause I honestly don't know how the hell I'll do it. So I'm thinking of replacing it with a Manga Sketch texture, with toned shadows and stuff, or just a Grayscale Ragna.

I don't mind him getting a mega recolour pack aswell, as long as I get the original back first ;)

I'd just go with the most feasible option for Ragna's last recolour... It would still look cool regardless of whether it was a manga sketch version or not.

On a related note, I haven't been able to attach the buckles on Hazama's collar. I could leave them out or I could try and make them out of his FS eyes... What does everybody think? :-\

I am using the chest plate for the collar itself (so it doesn't look flat)... I tried using his shoulder pads, but couldn't manage to re-attach them.
Looks like I can only re-attach stuff that is only weighted to one bone :(

oh yeah forgot that both shoulder pads are one polygon... my bad... xD

Pik's method is basically increasing the size of the textures to increase their resolution. For example, making Ike's bigger textures 1024 x 1024 to increase their resolution.

When I did it with Ragna's belts, they looked kickass...-but the Gecko File Size limit inhibits it.

-The problem is, Ragna's filesize makes it impossible to increase the resolution of his textures very much.

I don't know how much I could increase it, but if I had to guess. I think 1.5x times normal size may be the limit.

It appears Hazama's original texture will take a while to spruce up properly...

The top of his hat looks round in the second screenshot, but I can't entirely tell.

All in all, He'll require special attention to detail, and I'll need to compare him to Marth's Original texture for Shading references on the arms and such so I know where to put them generally and such. Then I'll try adding more fine details after that.

His hat is gonna be hard to texture... I used the jewel on Marth's tiara to make it, so all of the UV points atop it map to the same place :-\

After looking at Ragna in game a bit. I have a few further critiques (PLEASE DO NOT COME DOWN ON ME FOR THIS!).

1. To be honest, Ragna's hair would've looked better if it weren't curving all over in some places. I personally think some pieces (heck, most of them) should be flowing straight backward at differing angles, especially towards the back of his head. It would make it seem more like his art from Calamity Trigger, and it would, I think, look much better.

2. This one is painfully obvious, but there is nothing that can be done about it...-and it's his legs.

That about sums up what I have to say about Ragna, and I have nothing further.

I can see more of what I will need to do with Hazama now with these. The hat will be simplicity itself.

I agree on 1., I haven't played the game, but as soon as I saw the previews before releasing i looked for Ragna's pic 'cause I was intrigued, and I could notice the hair issues you mention, Velen. (Hopefully, after I agree w/ you on this, no one will come down on you for this. XD)

Well, let me use a Calamity Trigger image to illustrate what I mean.


Notice how Ragna's hair is. It looks like it's flowing backward behind him with the roots of his hair at the forefront of his head.

I guess what I am saying is "make his hair more comparable to his official artwork than his game sprite?

Also, where does the white part of Blood Scythe's blade near hilt come from. I'm trying to properly texture it.

Looking at your reference. I see more and more errors in comparison.

Here is your reference again for comparison's sake.


1. The hair around his face is too long, and you can barely see both of his eyes.

2. The vertices are quite a mess.

I think the main problem for me may be how you distributed the polygons to make the hair. To me, in some places, it looks like you used too much of one area or two many at once to make the hair look like it does.

However, the way it looks now, I think, is a step in the right direction.

That's my two cents, and I'm very sorry if I offended you with this...

I can fill for both your new critiques though.

I originally intended to use Ike's hair textures and just recolour them, but when I saw them on the model it looked god awful, so I it blocked it all together. I could probably thin the hair over his face though.

The vertices are a mess. They are a mess on almost every Ike with a hair vertex.
The problem is that Ike's hair is one polygon and can't be broken apart. So when you vertex it, you have to be careful not to move them too much or else the normals go to [censored] and you'll have a bunch of vertices flowing through each other :(
If it wasn't all attached, it would be far easier to manage.

Well, I'm not gonna start from scratch on it, so you will just have to make do :-\

At least it will be better and greater! xD

I was looking at the pic showing off the knife but what actually caught my eye was the face. It looks a lot closer to Hazama's than I had guessed from the previous shots.

Report: Two more Ragna Colors completed. The Shadow and Brown colors from CS.

Figured out to make something similar to the former one: Poster Edges in Photoshop, It works wonders.

Though after the first twelve, I want to get on the others as soon as possible and was wondering if Dr. P would like to test these colors himself in-game? The first set of 6 are done, and I'll be working on the others.

i know he has so many recolors in his own game, but what's the point of making so many recolors, when u cant use them all in brawl???

Haven't worked on anything Ragna-related for some time, namely due to schooling, and I won't be staying on her much longer cause I got work to do for Math and ebing prepared for the final on Monday. Recently I have been working on BY's Brawl V Joe, re-texturing the whole damn thing.

I'm too lazy to make from scratch and imports are just... Not my style I suppose :-\

Well... You could do it like some might in the future. And use a Brawl model as a base... Think of it as a more powerful vertex editing, one with little limitations. Plus, you won't have to rig hand bones this way. :P

Personally though, I'd aim for characters without a 3D model. Like some anime characters, or characters who showed up in 2D games... Or, even 3D characters, who showed up only in the 64 Bit days.

I've already started another Arc Systems character using an import as the base.

If I do decide to try importing, I don't think I'll be doing any in the near future... My ancient computer is too clogged up with crap as it is ^-^

look at beyond's kratos, it isnt completely from scratch, he used a male torse to start off, u could do similar stuff... but anyway, vertexes are great too
