Title: Any errors moving back to this domain?
Post by: Vyse on April 19, 2012, 04:39:29 AM
I'm pretty sure everything is working, but I've been wrong before.

So if you find something, post it here. Or PM me, or e-mail me, whatever works for you. I'll fix it. Probably.

KNOWN ISSUES
Database Connection Problem
max_user_connections exceeded

Please don't post these anymore.

I get this a lot, and the page doesnt load:

Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

also, i get this 75% of the time. this makes the full page not load, and its mostly at the vault itself:

ERROR: User qzerzerq_kcforum already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections

Title: Re: Any errors moving back to this domain?

I'm getting this error nearly every other page

"Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later. "

First time i've ever got that one.

I got that during some BrawVault hack fixing as well.

Title: Re: Any errors moving back to this domain?
Post by: Vyse on April 19, 2012, 01:54:02 PM
I'm not sure if that's something I can fix. I'm hoping it'll stop happening once the forum's had some time to build up its cache again.

If it doesn't, that means Jack was wrong about this host being able to handle us. In that case, we'll get an account with picano's host and transfer this domain to that. I completely understand the transfer process now, so it wouldn't be a big deal.

My only complaint is that now I have to edit every link I have to the other host to this one now. *sighs* I have quite a lot of them, if only Brawl Vault could've edit any links that had http://forums.kc-mm.com/ (http://forums.kc-mm.com/) could be changed to http://forums.kc-mm.com/ (http://forums.kc-mm.com/)
Otherthan that, I just get a few errors when posting a comment, but it at least still uploads it after refreshing the web page. :|

This page is called KittyCorp:Meow Mix / KC:MM not Brawl Vault.

I set up a word censor that does that exact thing, but obviously it doesn't work for anyone that doesn't have censoring on.

I also asked picano to set up a redirect that would forward any unotaku links to their corresponding ones here, but either he couldn't figure it out or redirects don't work that way.

Patience.

I've also texted Jack to see if he knows of anything that will improve it.

There's also the simple fact that, now that Jack's hosting us in addition to his other sites, his bandwidth usage has more than tripled. The server may simply need time to... adjust.

MetalSonic brawler had the same error.
I haven't come across it yet, but any idea what it means by "max_user_connections active"

by da "max_user_connections active" i think is because lot people are online at da same time

More than likely -

To my knowledge, both themes are working fine. I think that might be on your end?

Actually, i've had it a few times as well. At the top of the page it would say that too many users are on, and it keeps the page white like that picture.

I've never had that happen to me. I've changed the settings to use persistent connections, so those errors should be less frequent, but there isn't really anything else I can do.

Same here. And also, yes, I got the "Nothing to display" glitch as well. It happened when I was looking at the results screens section.

I also get this sometimes.
"Connection Problems

If it stays this bad for another day, I'll look into getting an account on the host Picano was using. We didn't have any problems there.

The only obstacle might be money, since I know Jack already used a bunch of ad revenue to pay for a year on this host.

Not sure if this particular issue has been brought up yet. If it has, my apologies. Have barely any time to check through all the pages.

Anyway, onto the problem.. I'm sure some of you are familiar with the stars that StarWaffle started using for the BV entries, but now it looks like this:

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=24172 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=24172)

I know we have a little ad money left, and there might be some donation money lying around (though if Jack already dipped into ad money, I'm guessing there's not -- gotta ask him), and Miacis and I are both able and willing to chip in. So that probably won't be necessary.

Thank you for the offer.

What can I say about this domain in polite terms...it blows logs. Every time I try to go to a character on the Brawl Vault, it always goes back to the Brawl Vault. God, this place sucks now, I'd rather quit brawl hacking than deal with this "new" site. Can we PLEASE go back to Unotaku?
As Vyse said a bit earlier, we're getting our own account on that host. Just working out details with transferring the domain.

Please be patient, we really couldn't expect those errors. x_x

Why didn't we just stay at the other domain?
Because it was always supposed to be temporary?

Because we (actually, the users, via donations) bought the kc-mm.com domain, and we're damn well going to use it?

Because the URL is unsightly and way too long?

Because the different URL broke a bunch of stuff?

Because a different domain ruins all of our previous search engine networking? (not really sure what the term for that is)

I can probably go on.

This place doesn't suck, having to transfer causes issues. There are going to be issues, just give a few days for everything to be ironed out.

For everyone complaining about the transfer issues and acting generally crabby, I feel that I must remind you all that KCMM isn't the only forum about Brawl hacking that you guys can go to. There's always Smashboards and I'm sure the guys at LSTeam would be more than happy to see some activity there.

Seriously, if all of this is pissing you guys off so much, just leave and come back when it's fixed.

This was my philosophy at first. Then I got an e-mail from the current host stating that the "max_user_connection" error people are getting is their fault, because they arbitrarily limit accounts to 15 simultaneous connections.

They also told me that the database connection problems were just "the nature of the beast" and there was nothing we could do about it. Which is obviously bull, since no other host has had that problem.

So. We're moving.

Let's clarify things a little bit, 'cause I see lost of people getting some names wrong.

The very first host we had was DreamHosts. We had our own account here, so our URL was forums.kc-mm.com.

The second one was GoDaddy. We were borrowing picano's account, so our URL was unotaku.com/kcmm/forums.kc-mm.com. (Unotaku.com is simply Picano's anime club's website, hosted on GoDaddy.)

Our third and current host is HostMonster. We use our own account there so our URL is forums.kc-mm.com.

Our fourth and next (and I hope final) host is going to be GoDaddy again. We will use our own account there, this time, so our URL will stay forums.kc-mm.com.

Jack, like Dantarion, hosts several other domains completely unrelated to KC-MM for other people. He used the ad money to pay for another year on his account in general, not just for us.

Given how much Jack has done for us and the money troubles he recently discussed on the blog, I don't begrudge him the money.

Any issues during the transfer Vyse?

edit: The Brawl Vault Staff stars are gone :<
Vyse can't reply right now, so I'm just transmitting all the issues to him.

The Attachment issue should be solved. And the BV Staff stars have been restored. ^^

in kits words..

Quote
Trying to connect but failing.. unsure how to clear the "DNS Cache" as i whiped nearly everything from my browser. The new message you put with the IP says "Sorry! This site is not currently available"
([url]http://50.63.214.1/unavailable.jpg[/url])
and if I put /index.php I get some HTML code
Code:
<?php
// pageok
// managed by puppet - hostingcms02
header("Content-type: text/plain");

// Total size of directory
$totalSize 0;

// List of files in cwd
$dir  = opendir('.');
while (($filename readdir($dir)) ==! false) {
&
#160;  $files[] = $filename;
}

// The results of filesize are cached, clear that cache
clearstatcache();

// Total file sizes
foreach ($files as $file) {
&
#160; // Add file to total size
  $totalSize += filesize($file);
}

echo
"pageok\n\n";
echo
"Directory Size: $totalSize\n\n";

?>
Hope to come back cause I wanna get caught up on my news again lol

Weird.

Everything works on my phone.
The topics, home, etc. But on my CPU its still maintenance mode.
Any idea why this is?

you need to flush your dns cache. load up commadn prompt if u r on a windows OS, and typ ipconfig /flushdns. you need to close pout of web browaers first. then restart ur computer after flushing

Editing a submission in the BV is possible without any issues, but this does pop up above the KC-MM logo and such

All the links in the Descriptions boxes of the Vault entries are replaced with http://

I just flushed out the cache from my google chrome. ∙_∙
"Empty Cache"
"When: The beginning of time."

Closed, opened, came back to KCMM, and everything worked. Ω_Ω

That's your browser cache, not the DNS cache...

I know that.
But when I cleared out just the browser it worked. :/
I cleared out the DNS cache after I cleared out my browser. Θ.Θ

Just give it time.

There is nothing for us to fix. The DNS is configured correctly.

@GBC and Slayer: that's not a KCMM-side problem, it's a problem at your side.

Yep. It's a time-sensitive issue.

The Team Page on the blog gives this:
Quote
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Code:
Database Error: MySQL server has gone away
File: /home/content/61/9260761/html/kcmm/forum/Sources/Subs-Post.php
Line: 1896Database Error: MySQL server has gone away
File: /home/content/61/9260761/html/kcmm/forum/Sources/Load.php
Line: 2308

I've been trying to modify the primary post on one of my own threads, but every time I try to submit the changes, I always end up with this error. Oddly, this problem never really occurred, up until now.

Title: Re: Any errors moving back to this domain?
Post by: Vyse on May 03, 2012, 04:42:38 PM
I haven't seen that myself, but if I had to guess, it's probably related to this:

Quote
(5:43:15 PM) picano123: but I say give it a while. GoDaddy didn't work much at all for the first month I used them
(5:43:38 PM) Vyse: How so
(5:44:04 PM) picano123: sql randomly gave out

So... give it time, I guess? There's nothing I can do about the MySQL server; that's not under my control.

Title: Re: Any errors moving back to this domain?
Post by: mnsg on May 03, 2012, 07:33:21 PM
It seems that my only solution was to reduce the amount of content that the primary post was displaying. By doing that, I was able to get my primary post modifications to be accepted.

Ironically, the changes that I make to the secondary post and later, tend to get accepted without any major problems, regardless of the character amounts.

Vyse, looks like the problem is back again.

[url]http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=24172[/url] ([url]http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=24172[/url])

Not sure if those have to be coded, added to the html or what.

Somehow the vault forgot the ascii again as all of mine with my Special looking K, B, and d are all goofed.

Solved.

I posted this in the BV thread:
Actually, the database has the correct collation this time, so I'm not sure what the deal is. I'll try to figure it out, but in the meantime, a quick edit -> submit fixes it.

I never did figure it out, but edit -> submit still fixes it.

Yeah, I fixed it on the last host by changing something in the database.

But on this host, the thing I changed was already set, so I had no idea what to do. Still don't.

I can't seem to be able to log in on my DSi... It keeps giving an error 304103: Could not connect to remote server.

It doesn't matter when or where i try it, it keeps doing this. I deleted the cookies, cache and history of my DSi, no luck. I had this same problem when trying to register on my DSi as well, perhaps a compatibility issue server-side? :-\

Yours perhaps, my DSi's internet is perfectly fine. I can browse the forums no problem, it's only the login/register now. This wasn't a problem before either.

Hang on, it went through this time o.o

I think it's the register/login page, cause the login on the top right worked :|

edit: Eh.... now it can't post... >:|
Stupid DSi connection to the server xD
