@dpg: I'm thinking Ike. The sword'll make a [censored]in 2x4, like in BP's vertex.
For Pokey, either Ness or Wario. In the games, Pokey used people to get to power, and didn't really fight. So that's a tough one.

For Flint, good call, can't wait to see how you execute that. As for Pokey, Ness and Wario seem odd. Wario since his moves seem way out of tact, and ness uses PSI. As you said, he wasn't all that helpful but maybe T.Link could work. The sword could be a plain stick or bat, and the bombs well, are bombs, heh.

Could you put quote over mario this time? Or Toon Link? Both of them are better for PSAs.

The fur looks very nice, maybe needing a bit more sharpening. (Fox's might be a good thing to look at) Oh,and I'm sure you could copy/paste/edit fox's nose in there as well, I've always liked how they did it. 

As for the body, it could use less white. It's good that it's shiny, but maybe a cyan color would work better for highlights? Keep in mind, it's going to be lighted by the shader, so don't add too much contrast... I often make that mistake, haha.

I actually tried sharpening it a bit more before. Didn't like how it looked, so I smudged and sharpened it again. A bit more work-and this was the result...As for the highlights on the suit. I'll see what I can do...

Maybe sharpening was the wrong way to go. more contrast maybe? you kind of want the fur to look rendered+shaded before it's in-game, since the lighting system isn't going to do it

I would prblly use it as a base though since Sin and punishment 2 models are pretty low quality, like the sane quality as brawl's assist trophies.

My vote goes to Young Link.

He's my favourite vertex, but without the limitations of vertexing, you could spruce up his arms, and wouldn't need to disable various bones and whatnot because of his hair and other things.(Actually, you could probably still rig his bangs to the hair bones, but in a way that won't have them move about in an undesired manner like the vertex's?)

The only problem I can see is whether or not he could still change expressions, given how Link's expressions work by moving the actual vertices on his face, instead of bones, textures, or multiple face polygons.

But maybe by using the vertex as a base and then making edits to it here and there, the expressions could still work if his face was kept?

Who would you plan to have him over? Link, Toon Link, or both? Both would be swell, but an understandable pain(I'd personally prefer him over Link, myself)

It's not Vert092 working on it, it's ExorcistRain and Shun_One and it's not a custom model it's a vertex and the results would turn out much nicer imo if Pik did a custom model and worked his texture magic on it as well.

Looks good, but you should slim him down a bit. Also, my biggest issue with BY's Masked Man was that head was odd looking, kinda like a egg. Hopefully yours will come out different.

I think the reasons BY's head looks "egg-shaped" is because he made the body too thin- I think animated, this would look fine. Still though, you guys were right. I thinned out his pants by a bit.

By the way, who should he go over?
Lucas? That'd be the obvious choice, but his manerisms are a bit too whimpy.
Maybe Ness? He has the same bone structure as Lucas, but is more confident. Still, he might be too cheerful for the Masked Man.
Then there's Marth, his moveset+mannerisms would be best. But even with a size mod, his proportions'll be weird.

I find it's usually best to shoot for 1024x1024 textures for best quality, but if it ends up not working, cut one in half, and keep cutting the size in half until it works. I dunno about polys though.

Agreed. It looks like most Brawl textures were painted at 1024x1024, and then sized down.

However, I've decided to mainly use a 256 size, and occasionally use 512 for the body file.

Pik, I would suggest you see how many polys the character you're replacing has, and make Masked Man have less than that. As for textures, if you do this, you might be able to go for 1024 on a few textures.

Well, take as much time you need...

As for polycounts, you can go up to around 15000 before experiencing any noticeable lag. I'd personally keep it under 12000 if you can.

Textures are more of a matter of the characters file size limit, though I'd doubt you could go all 512 though.

Ness and Lucas both have I believe two or three main textures. The rest are face expressions and stupid [censored] like that. Those don't need to be 512x512.

256x256 should be more than enough for that.

Oh, and the masked man won't need expressions, since he's like... dead... It looks cooler that way, too.

But here's a side view. How's the shape looking? Is he balanced, etc? If so, I'm ready to use this as model concept art.

I might not have wings at all, but I guess there'd be no harm to make them the FS eyes.
I'm also debating whether or not to include the cannon and the sword. The cannon'll make rigging easier, plus it's a staple in his design; So I'm leaning towards it.

I've decided to put him over Ness. The sword'll just replace the bat, probably.

I'd say go with the arm cannon. I don't actually remember masked man not having it out but yeah, I think it'd be cooler then just his hand.

Only problem is that ness's bat is on his right hand just like the arm cannon, so you'd have to swith them around to look natural.

I actually disagree with this, Pik usually bases on a sprite with looks, however the Masked Man presents many looks, he uses his wings rarely, he is most times without the arm cannon (specially in the final battle where he takes his mask off), Pik is just trying to do a modern version of the Masked Man for us, he even included some kickass buttons that weren't part of the original design to add more detail to the character himself.

But yeah stallion, he'll be having the cannon and the sword, don't worry. In MOTHER3, the wings were rarely used (like mvit said), and weren't really memorable for me- So making them FS eyes would be perfect. A PSA could make use it for his up B or some [censored].

Its for the best I guess. He used his wings only twice (I think, did he fly into the 6th needles location?) any ways, I know you want to make it accurate, but you should put the canon on the left arm so the sword is not on the canon, it also better if some one attempts to make a psa for him.
Possibly me when Shadowmarth starts his psa school. But I may not, depending if I would have the time for the class and whether some one better would rather do it.
Sorry about that man, but if you ever got Lucas trophy in Brawl, they spoiled it there to. Still pick it up, there are still a lot of other twists to the story, which is a amazing story.
